Chapter 2:

Chapter 1: A Human in Utopia

The Art of Falling in Love

I stared at the human I brought into my shop. He was badly hurt, most likely from entering the barrier, and not waking up either.

I sighed and poked at his cheeks, “sorry to say this but I can’t heal you. My magical infinity doesn’t work like that.”

The bell rang as Roshie came running in, “I’m here Naomi! What’s the urgency?” She was out of breath.

Roshie is a slight small woman who had medical infinities, too bad she’s a klutz and forgets things often.

“Did you bring your kit?” I asked and her purple eyes looked at me confused when a realization struck her.

“When you asked for me I didn’t realize you needed my help in medicine. I’m really sorry!” Roshie cried.

“Yes well at least your familiar has more common sense than you do,” I said pointing to her tiny dragon holding her bag for her.

“Lucifer! I’m soooo glad!” Roshie exclaimed.

Lucifer dropped her bag on her head, “you are an imbecile. Why is I an immortal being serving such a putrid girl?”

Lucifer was once the king here but was defeated long ago by Roahie’s family. He now serves the family in the body of a tiny drake. He has no power and is incapable of turning back human. Roshie is just unlucky that he became her familiar.

“Anyway if you’ll come this way, the person I was talking about is sleeping in my living quarters,” I said and showed them in.

The young human lay on my couch, his breathing heavy.

“He looks pretty beat up. I wonder if he came through the barrier?” Roshie asked.

“You’re the doctor here didn’t just guess,” Lucifer scoffed.

“Ah, right!” Roshie exclaimed starting her scan.

Roshie May be a klutz and ditzy at most times, but she is powerful in her craft. She’s the one I trust the most in this world. I can’t much else for her familiar though.

“So, hows he look?” I asked.

“It’s not as bad as I thought but a human going through the barrier is dangerous. At least without an escort. He’s got a couple broken ribs, his his arm is pulled out of it socket, along with some lacerations to his tendons. I’m surprised he could move to this location,” Roshie stayed.

I thought for a moment.

“I believe there’s more to it. I don’t think he came here on his own. I think another witch may have attacked him and he made it here.” I stated.

“How do you guess that?” Roshie asked.

“Because it’s pointless to run after being injured in the barrier. He’s be incapable of moving if he’d come through the barrier without help. That barrier is meant to keep non magic folk out,” Lucifer growled.

“Built in times of war and just never taken down. So we have an assault on our hands,” I sighed.

“Then we should report it,” Roshie said when the human began to stir.

He looked up with wide blue eyes filled with confusion, “where...am I?”
