Chapter 3:

Like It Never Happened…

Hoshi Gakkou D-Club!

Asahi found himself in the nurses office, although he didn’t have any injuries, or aches.

‘Was Kaguya’s kick really that hard?’ He thought to himself.

There was something strange about what happened earlier in the day, everytime he thought about it, everyones faces were blurred. As if something wasnt letting him remember everything cleary…

“You’re awake Asahi!”

Sakura raced over to Asahi’s bed, and without giving him time to respond she shoved some rabbit-cut apples into his mouth.

“Go on, Eat up! You’ve been here since morning and haven’t eaten!”

“Since Morning?” Asked Asahi, munching on the apple slices.“What about Matsumoto? Did she get kicked out?”

Sakura gave a confused face, as if she didn’t know what happened not so long ago.

“What do you mean? Who’s Matsumono or whatever?”

Asahi’s heart skipped a beat.

“What do you mean? Matsumoto? The one who was causing a commotion not so long ago?” He said, kind of hoping that Sakura was joking around.

Ohhh! You mean all the back in 6th Grade? She got expelled that same day. Why were you thinking about that?” Sakura asked, picking a spoon full of small, cut up fruits.

“I’m not talking about that! I’m talking about what happened today!” Asahi exclaimed, slowly gettin more and more agitated.

Sakura raised an eye brow, but didn’t say anything. She just gave Asahi the spoon of fruit and went on her way. Asahi was thinking about what just happened, until an opening door caught his attention

It was Maeda Tsuyoko, but now she didn’t have tissues wrapped like bandages around her arms and legs.

“Tsuyo…ko?” Asahi said, trying to remember her name correctly.

“Who said we were on a first name basis?” She replied, “Anyways, I came here to inform you that everything you saw, Matsumoto, the ropes, everything that happaned, Never really did.”

Asahi narrowed his eyes. He wanted to believe her, just a tiny bit. But could couldn’t.

“What are you talking about?” He asked.

“Everything you thought occured, never did, They were part of a fake memory.” Tsuyoko replied, walking towards Asahi’s bed.

“If they never did happen, like you said, how come you’re aware of it? What is a fake memory?”Asahi said, getting out of the bed.

“I can’t tell you, classified information.”

☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆~

English class, Asahi was in his usual state, this time drawing semi-realistic eyes and lips in the corners of his workbook. And again, he recieved a note from Maeda Tsuyoko, once again asking him to go to the former Class 3-C again, once again struggling to spell anonymous, though she didn’t really need to as Asahi already knew who it was.

When Asahi arrived at Class 3-C, instead of just Tsuyoko being there, Junpei and Sakura were too.

“You’re late again.” Said Tsuyoko.

“There wasn’t an assigned time to be here was there?” Asahi replied.                                                     ‘We had that excact conversation 2 days ago, funny’ he thought to himself

“Why are they here?” Said Asahi.

“To help form the D-Club!” Said Junpei ecstatically.

Asahi gave a blank face, as if what he’d just heard was the most bizzare thing ever.

“D… Club? Why D of all letters?” He asked, closing the door behind him.

“D for Detectives of course!” Said Sakura as if it was the most obvious thing in the world.

“Right… Oh Right! Junpei can we talk for a sec?” Said Asahi re-opening the door.

The two escaped to the school corridors.

“So, What’s up?” Asked Junpei, putting his hands on his hips.

“You remember what happened 2 days ago right?” Said Asahi, silently wishing Junpei would say yes.

“What happened 2 days ago? Are you talking about when you passed out the moment you stepped foot inside the school building? You really worrie-“ Junpei was cut off

“I’m not talking about that, damn! I’m talking about Matsumoto!” Asahi shouted.

Now Junpei gave a blank face, as if what he’d just heard was the most bizzare thing ever. He had never heard of anyone by that name.

“Matsumoto?” Junpei tried to recall anyone by that surname. “Never heard of them, maybe… Whats their given name?”

Asahi went silent. He couldn’t believe it. It was like Matsumoto was forgotten.

“Ahi? You-“

“KAGUYA!”

Junpei was severely startled by the sudden scream.

“MATSUMOTO KAGUYA! KAGUYA’S HER GIVEN NAME! DON’T YOU REMEMBER BACK IN 6TH GRADE!?” Cried Asahi, barely any of the memories he had with Matsumoto Kaguya were nice, but even so, he couldn’t bare the fact that she might have been forgotten.

“Kaguya, Kaguya, Kaguya…. You mean Kaguya-san from that one anime series?” Junpei said, that was one of the only Kaguya’s he’d heard of.

Asahi felt defeated, though he himself didn’t know why he cared so much about the demon she was to him.

“F-Forget it… Lets go back inside…” He said, glumly.

Tsuyoko laid down a piece of paper, alongside 3 Sharpy pens and a collection of Comic Markers and colouring pencils.

“Alright! We need an eye-catching poster for our club!” Said Tsuyoko. “Any art suggestions?”

“How about a detective since its the Detectives-Club.” Said Junpei

“Ooh, maybe something like Detective Colon?”Said Sakura.

Asahi was barely listening to what they were saying. His mind was only on Matsumoto Kaguya, “Why is this happening?” “Was it really a ‘Fake Memory’”, “No way it was, right?”

“ASAHI!” Shouted Tsuyoko, which startled Asahi a bit.

“Gosh, What are you thinking about? Anyways, what’s your art suggestion”

Asahi had no suggestions for Tsuyoko and the rest, so he said the first thing that came to mind

“My suggestion is… A shining princess.”
