Chapter 4:

Call At Your Own Risk!!

Hoshi Gakkou D-Club!

“Shining princess? What does that have to do with-“

“A Big Magnifying Glass!”

The room went silent.

“Asahi… You’ve been acting strange lately… Are you okay?” Asked Sakura

“I’m fine… I’m perfectly fine.”

Nothing was fine, and it seemed like Asahi and Tsuyoko were the only ones who acknowledged that. Asahi’s mind was only on Matsumoto, he wanted answers and he wanted them, then and there.

After the meeting, Asahi called Tsuyoko outside 3-C…

“So, What do you want?” Asked Tsuyoko.

“I want to know what happened to Matsumoto Kaguya…”

Tsuyoko rolled her eyes.

“Why should I tell you? Did you not hear me say it was classified information?” She said, folding her arms.

Asahi knew that, but he would keep on asking how ever many times until he gets a word out of her.

“You have no specific reason to tell me everything. But at least, tell me one thing about the disappearance of Matsumoto.”

Tsuyoko let out a long sigh.

“Matsumoto still exists. Just not in this timeline anymore. For whatever reason Warukami moved her.”

Asahi felt the smallest wave of relief. The Matsumoto he once knew is still alive, somewhere in the universe.

“Thats great and all but, who is Warukami?” He asked.

Tsuyoko ignored the question.

“You can still get her back. But it might cost you.”

“Might cost me what?”

Tsuyoko gave out the tiniest smile.

“Your life.”

Asahi wasn’t sure a person like Matsumoto was worth enough to risk his life for. He didn’t want Matsumoto to continue being an asshole to him. But he didn’t think it would be fair for Matsumoto to be stuck in an entirely different universe for the rest of her life.

After a long moment of thinking, Asahi made up his mind.

“Why not? I’ll do it.”

Tsuyoko’s small smile turned into a big grin.

“After school, meet me at the train station.”

☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆~

“Today we’re gonna have a volleyball game! So split yourselves into 4 groups!”

It was Hoshi Academy’s sports day, Asahi’s least favourite day of the school year. This was not because he didn’t like sports, but he wasn’t particularly good at them, and due to that, Asahi barely won any games. He’d never even got 3rd Place in the flat races, or won any medals.

“Yo, Asahi! Join us!”

Junpei and Sakura had formed a group with Charlie, Ren, and Ao, three close friends of theirs.

As the game went on, so did Asahi’s team’s points.

“You’re really good at spiking, Charlie!” Whispered Asahi, “Must be nice.”

“Ah, I’m not that good!”

“If you weren’t good, I wouldn’t have said tha-“

Slap!

While Asahi was talking to Charlie, Ao passed the volleyball to him and he seemed to have not noticed in time.

FWEEEEET!

“Oh Gosh! I’m so sorry!” Said Ao, rushing to Asahi.

“You don’t need to be, it was his own fault! Having his own little chat during the game.”

Ren wasn’t very fond of Asahi, and for whatever reason, he’d forgotten why. There was something, or something (or someone) missing from his memory…

After school, Asahi went to train station like Tsuyoko asked. She was waiting for him near a Telephone Box.

“I’m here Maeda. What do you want?”

“Dial your own phone number in the pay phone.”

Asahi raised an eyebrow.

“Why? Also, Could I have just dialed it on my mobile phone?”

“Just do it. I’ll give you 80¥“

Asahi took the 80¥ and dialled his number on the pay phone

“Now repeat, Satoru-kun three times.”

“Okay?..”

Asahi did as he was told

“Now hang up.”

Again, Asahi did as he was told.

“Now what?”He asked

“We wait”

For 10 minutes Asahi and Tsuyoko, waited. Asahi looked at the train map, Tsuyoko played on her Ninkendo console.

“I’m here.”

Asahi jumped at the voice. It was like a child’s voice, particularly a middle schoolers.

The voice came from a relatively short, Japanese middle schooler, his eyes were like a tanned gold, he wore an oversized sleeveless sweater with a school shirt underneath. His shoes were polished and the looked as if they were from the 80s.

“You called Satoru-kun, right? Of course you did! That’s me!”

Tsuyoko leaned in to whisper.

Don’t let your guard down at all. He may look all innocent, but in his heart, deep in his heart. He wants to do unimaginably horrific things to you

Satoru-kun, also leaned in to listen.

“What ‘you guys talkin’ about?” He asked. “Will you not ask me questions?”

“Of course, of course. I forgot!” Said Tsuyoko. “My question is, what would happen if me and Satō Asahi went to retrieve Matsumoto Kaguya?”

Satoru gave a wide smile.

“Going to the extremes to find a person as horrible as her ‘ey?” He said, “You will have to face Warukami, King of mischief. Shall he allow you to travel to AUT2038R, you will successfully retrieve Matsumoto Kaguya. But one of you’ll lose your life!”

Both Asahi and Tsuyoko’s heart skipped a couple beats. If they succeed in retrieving Matsumoto from Alternative Universe Timeline 2038 Re;. It would be certain death for one of them.

“Will anything happen to us if we don’t attempt to-“ Asahi was cut off.

“I’ll drag you ‘home’ and have fun torturing you for a bit!”
