Chapter 2:

Lesson One

Teaching the Girl

***Taichi***P.O.V.

Halfway into school, it is finally lunch time. Everyone in the class moves their desks to sit by their friends. Too bad Karasuma had to be in a different class than me.

I then spot Hinata sitting alone by the window. She gazes out the window like always. She actually looks quite peaceful right now. I take my bento out and begin to move my desk towards hers.

"Don't you dare even think about it." She says without me even moving my desk an inch yet. I sigh, this was going to be a tough. Despite her pushing me away, I still move my seat next to hers.

"So, Hinata I was thinking for our first objective lets work on controlling your anger. How about we figure out what it is that makes you angry?"

"Ugh, what are you blabbering about now? If you want to know what makes me angry you should know you are right now." She says with a cold expression. Maybe I should try a different approach.

"There's a start, you seem to get angry when people try and ask things about you. Which can mean one of two things, either you don't like people, or you just don't trust anyone. Why is it that you don't trust anyone with your thoughts or--" Hinata grabs my shirt collar before I could finish.

She looks like she's about to punch me in my face. I can feel the sweat dripping down my forehead as I wait for her to punch me. Only thing is the punch never comes. She releases my shirt collar and puts me down.

"Tsk, don't talk as if you know me. You don't know anything. You asked what makes me angry and this is what makes me angry. People trying to help me out of pity. Just leave me alone already." She yells at me. She then walks out the room and all eyes are on me at this point.

"Uh, nothing to see here." I say, trying to make everyone continue with their lunch. I then run after Hinata and when I manage to catch up to her, I grab her wrist.

"Wait! What about the deal? You said I could help you."

"Who even cares? The deals off. This was such a stupid idea!" She yells, snatching her wrist from my hand. Instead of continuing to run she sinks to the floor and buries her face into her knees. I feel like I may have brought up a topic she wasn't ready for.

I then decide to crouch down in front of her before taking a big risk. I gently rub the top of her head with my hand, ruffling her hair a bit.

"I'm sorry, I didn't know I was hitting a touchy subject. I just want to help you." I say as I rub her head. She looks up at me surprised, before she starts to speak.

"Why? Why do you insist on helping someone you hardly know?" She asks. She had a point.

"Well, despite what people say, I know you're not a dog. You're Akira Hinata, a normal high school girl that's just misunderstood. I just want them to give you a chance." I say and I begin to see her cheeks go a bright red.

"Whatever, fine." She says getting up from the floor.

"So, lesson back on?" I ask and she nods in agreement.

Just then we both decide to head back to class. Akira Hinata, I am not only going to make people realize that you're not a dog, but I'll make you realize it too.

Near the end of the day, I'm at the shoe lockers with Hinata.

"Ok, so what's something that makes you angry?" I ask once again.

"Well, I hate sitting in the front, doing homework and being the last one to get miso soup from the cafeteria. It's always cold by then." She explains.

"No, I mean what really pisses you off, not just simple annoyances or inconveniences." I state and she thinks for a second. I notice she has something in mind by her pause. "Hinata?"

"Well, I--never mind, an idiot like you wouldn't understand." She says, as she switches to her outdoor shoes.

"Well, of course I won't understand unless you tell me." She then looks at me for a really long time before finally speaking.

"I hate people."

"What do you mean people?"

"Well for starters, I hate when they don't give a crap about the school garden." She explains. I  look at her surprised, so Hinata likes flowers?

"Can you explain more?" I question, trying to get more details of what she means.

"Gosh, you're annoying! Well, to put it simply no one has respect for flowers or nature the way they used to. It's honestly a disgrace it's come to this." Hinata says closing her shoe locker.

"Taichi!" A voice yells over to me. I turn around and see it's Karasuma.

"Looks, like you have company, bye." Hinata says before walking away. Karasuma looks really worried.

"I ran over here as soon as I could. Are you alright? Did she punch you?" Karasuma asks.

"No, no I'm fine, we were just talking." I state honestly and Karasuma gives me the most confused look.

"Really? Well, you should really be more careful around the dog. You never know when she might strike." He says.

"Trust me, I'll be ok. I know Hinata wouldn't hurt me." I say to him, and we both begin to walk home together. I explain to Karasuma exactly why I've been talking to Hinata a lot lately.

"Oh, I see. You want to help with anger. Although it's coming from a good place, I honestly don't think that's a good idea. I mean you can get seriously hurt." Karasuma says as we walk.

"Once again, trust me, I'll be fine." reassuring him again, but I can tell he is still concerned.

"Do you really think that she will be able to control her anger though?" Karasuma adds.

"Yes, I'm certain." I say confidently.

"Well ok..." Karasuma says, before we both have to walk in opposite directions home. As I'm walking home, I pass a park and notice some kids stomping on some flowers.

"To put it simply no one has respect for flowers or nature like they used to..."

Hinata's words come to mind. Is this what she meant by no respect? I then get the urge to yell at those kids.

"Hey kids! Stop stomping on the flowers!" I yell at them, and one kid sticks his tongue out at me and the other continues to stomp on all the flowers. I sigh, no use in telling them to stop now. I continue walking until I finally make it home.

"I'm home!" I yell as I walk in.

"Onii-chan!" My little sister Yuri says running up and hugging me. She claims she isn't a little kid anymore since she just turned eleven, but to me she's still a kiddo. "Onii-chan? Is everything alright? You seem like you have something on your mind?" My little sister adds concerned.

"No, everything is fine." I state reassuring her with a smile. Just then my other sister who was one year younger than me walks in.

"Hey, I see you made it home. I have to say, I'm impressed you survived this long at a new high school." She says.

"Very funny." I state sarcastically before heading upstairs to my room. I then close the door and plop on my bed. Suddenly the door opens, and I am now face to face with my mom.

"Taichi honey, will you do me a favor and run to the store and get me these things?" My mom asks handing me a list. I knew she was saying that I actually don't have a choice in this matter. So much for relaxing.

***

On my way to the store, I notice something in a display window of a small store, some beautiful roses. I walk into the store and right away an old lady greets me.

"Hello! What can I get for you dear?" She says in a sweet voice. I look behind her at the roses.

"Those roses, how much for them?" I ask and she smiles brightly.

"Why those are roses I actually grown myself, they're 300 yen. I must say if you don't mind me asking are the roses for anyone specifically?"

"Actually, I want these because I think they are truly beautiful." I say to her and then she leans in close to my face.

"Oh, I see they're beautiful, like a girl you know." She whispers and she now leans back giggling. I can feel my face heat up, it wasn't like that. "Well anyway, I'm just glad that someone out there still cares about flowers." She says as she packs up my roses with a bow. I hand her the 300 yen.

"What do you mean?" I ask as she finishes up with my roses.

"No one seems to respect flowers as they once did." The old lady says with a gentle expression. Where have I heard that one before?

Suddenly a great idea pops in my head, and I knew exactly how I will excute it.

***

The next day I head to school early. I wonder if Hinata was here. I then walk around the school and notice Hinata sitting in the school garden. I look at her as she picks up a flower and smiles gently as she sniffs it.

Hinata looks so calm and gentle like that. This is a side that I never seen before. I proceed to try and move closer, when I accidentally step on a stick. The snapping noise causes Hinata to turn her head in my direction.

"What are you doing here?" She says and her face turns cold again.

"Sorry, it's just you look so peaceful. I didn't want to disturb you." I state honestly. She then gets up and brushes herself off.

"Whatever. You already have disturbed me." She says and she begins to walk away.

"Wait Hinata! I got a surprise for you. I think this will help with what irritates you." She then stops in her tracks and hesitates before turning around.

"Well, what is it?" She asks coldly. I then walk up to her and hand her a slip of paper. She proceeds to read it, and I can tell she's speechless.

"What--what is this? What are you trying to do here?" She ask, which really isn't the response I was looking for, but I'll take what I can get.

"Well, you said people who don't respect flowers, makes you angry. I figured why not have an event where students can come and help out with the school garden?" I say and Hinata doesn't say anything, so I try to come up with something else to convince her." Not only that, if we hang up these flyers to help out with the garden around the school, everyone will know about it." I add. She then looks at me for a long time.

"Fine." She says before turning around and walking away. She then stops in her tracks and turns back around to face me again. She doesn't look at me in my eyes though.

"Thank you." She whispers.

"What was that? I couldn't hear you?" I say cupping my ear.

"I said thank you! Now, leave me alone already!" She says and now her cheeks are a bright red. Hinata is kind of cute when she gets teased.

"Oh, Hinata I also got this for you." I say walking up to her and handing her a rose. She just stares at the rose making a really gentle smile. I blush, the smile she made was extra cute just now.

"Thank you, Taichi." She says in a sweet voice. We both begin to walk into the school when suddenly a whole bunch of people surround Hinata.

"When can we sign up to help with the school garden?" A girl asks.

"Yes, we really do love flowers." Another girl chimes in while grasping Hinata's hands together. Hinata looks weirded out and I tiptoe away. I may or may not have already put information on helping out with the garden into a text to everyone already.

Hinata glares at me through all the people surrounding her so I run away.

"Tai-chiiiiiii!" She yells as she runs after me. While she's chasing me, I smile.

I honestly am glad to have met Hinata despite what people say about her I know she is just...

A normal girl.

After being chased by Hinata through the whole school it is time for class.

As Hinata and I walk into the classroom she stops dead in her tracks, her eyes grow cold. Her desk was missing. Someone must have tossed her desk out the window, based on the window that was opened.

"Everyone, quiet down! Have a seat now." The teacher says. "Hinata, where is your seat?" She adds directing her attention towards Hinata. I notice Hinata froze, clenching her fists tightly.

"I--." Was all she stutters out. She grits her teach in anger.

"Of course. I see you chose to cause trouble again today, I'm afraid if that's the case you will have to go to the principal's office again."

This was it, if Hinata was sent there...

She would be expelled...
