Chapter 18:

Saving His World

My Wife, The Devil

David stared up at the crimson sky as dark clouds rolled in. Everything around him was spinning. A ringing muffled the sounds of panicked screams in his ears. He barely saw what looked to be Morgan slowly rising from the ground. Her wings had spread far as she grabbed hold of one of the angels. Before they could react, Morgan crushed her to dust.

The feeling of something on his body caused David to slowly sit up. There, he saw Sebastian sprawled across his body, a massive hole in his chest. “Sebastian!!” He shouted, grabbing the imp butler.

Sebastian coughed loudly, staring up at David. “Master… David… I apologize…”

“No… No no no, we’ll get you better, just-”

Sebastian cut him off. “It was I who started this… Master Lucifer… He had me deliver a letter to them…” His eyes locked onto Bethany and Gabriela, currently engaged in intense combat. “He wanted this… I could not refuse…” His body began to disintegrate, dust flying in the wind. “Tell Mistress Morgan… I am so sorry… For ruining her special day…”

David’s mind raced. He knew nothing of this kind of injury. His only mindset was holding him, but something in his coat made it awkward. He slowly pulled out a glass orb.

The honeymoon! He thought. In an instant, he put the orb on Sebastian, unsure of how to activate it. He slapped it a few times, but it simply stayed there. Then, Sebastian’s small hand touched the ball, and in a flash of light, he was gone.

David didn’t know if it worked. All he could do was pray that it did something. He slowly stood up, glaring at Lucifer. The fallen angel simply watched as Morgan flew up high, breaking through a red portal.

“It’s magnificent…” He muttered to himself. “She will finally put an end to this wretched experiment, and destroy heaven…” He began to laugh, only to receive a swift punch in the face. He turned his head to see David with a fire in him. His smirk widened. “Well, now… You come to defy the new ruler of your world?”

“You… You are not a ruler…” David muttered. He loosed his tie and clenched his fists with a burning hatred. “You have done nothing but coerce your daughter into following YOUR ambitions!! What about her ambitions?? Did you even want to see her happy?!?”

“Her happiness would have come from seeing this world bow before her!! That would make her happy!!” Lucifer snapped back, his face crazed and sadistic.

“No…” David shook his head. “You don’t know ANYTHING about her… You just wanted someone to be like you… You and your wife… They didn’t want a happy life!!”

“I’m tired of this back and forth!” Lucifer rushed David and grabbed him by the neck. “Say goodbye, peasant. You’ve played your part, and now you must go as all trash does.”

David attempted to try and break the grip, but it was like a vice on his neck. No technique could break it as claws dug into his skin. Even then, he kicked at Lucifer’s face, digging his heel back. “If I’m gonna die… Then I’ll make sure to use you as a doormat!”

SMASH!!

Lucifer was launched to the side by a massive pair of hooves, and before he knew it, he was across the property. He had to blink for a moment to figure out what was happening, but then rushed right back at the massive horse that had just kicked him in the head. Then, as he got close, a balding man grabbed him and put him into a German suplex. He lay there stunned at the prospect of MORTALS landing hits on him. Before he could recover, two other men came in and began to curb stomp him over and over. The four mortals stomped him over and over, and every so often, one of those hits actually did something.

“ENOUGH!!!”

A burst of purple energy pushed the three men and the horse back, and Lucifer stood before him. “I will not be disrespected in my new kingdom by some low-rate gutter trash! DIE!!!”

He threw out a hand, sending forth a torrent of flame, which came in contact with a massive golden coin and vanished into nothing. Bonnie walked from behind the coin, her glasses glinting in the red sun.

“You know, because I had this wedding insured, I will manage to make quite a bit of money from this…” She spoke, adjusting her dress. “I should thank you really.”

“Well, it was quite nothing-”

“But I won’t.” She looked the aged demon over. “See… This is a prime opportunity to prove ourselves. To show that the other sins are just as powerful as your insipid pride…”

From behind the coin came the other Sins, their dresses a mess as they looked Lucifer over. Their eyes screamed determination as they prepared to teach Lucifer a lesson.

No more words were exchanged. Instead, the demons clashed into an explosion of action. Swords, guns, and other weapons slashed away as they fought one another. Everything seemed to be a blur, but David’s attention was pulled towards the red hole in the sky.

From the hole, a flurry of angels came pouring out, flying straight down towards the city and the property. David panicked, realizing that these angels weren’t going for demons. They were going for everything.

Before he could think to flee, he saw something rush right towards the wave of angels, another wave that clashed with it and forced both sides to a standstill. David couldn’t see it at first, but upon closer inspection, he saw a mix of calacas and demons holding off the angels.

The sound of hooves came from beside him, and Mamón came rushing in. He had no face, but he definitely seemed pleased with himself. “Forgive me, niño, but I saw what was happening and decided to rally some friends. We all were watching the wedding and it was getting crazy.”

“Mamón… Thank you…”

“Thank me when it’s over. We still need to close that hole, and I don’t think my charm can close it.” He laughed a bit.

David shook his head. “We need to get up there. Morgan went into the hole! I need to save her!”

Mamón looked up, then looked down and shook his head. “I can’t get in there. I might be able to get you close enough if you can follow my lead and have something that moves and can take hits.”

David looked back at Mateo, who was currently being used as a stead for Shiva against Lucifer. “Well, there goes my first option…” Then, he remembered something and ran to his grandfather, who was escorting guests into the house. “Abuelito! I need to take the car! I can end this, I just need to borrow the car!”

His grandfather looked back at him with an expression that almost seemed bewildered at the prospect of him asking. “What the hell are you asking me, cabron? Get the car! And be safe, please!”

Smiling wide, David nodded and ran, hopping into his grandfather’s car and rushing right out. He followed right behind Mamón, amazed at how smooth and fast the car was. However, all of that came to a halt when Mamón flew upwards, and David’s car followed right behind on a trail of dust.

He didn’t scream. He couldn’t, not when he was so dead focused on making it to the end. He just needed to try and get to the hole. The two flew right into the battlefield, David’s car barely avoiding getting run through with a sword.

David realized how little room he had, only a car length to wiggle around. If he veered too far, he would likely tumble to his death. If he was too slow, he was likely going to fall from the dissipating dust trail. On top of that, swords, gunshots, and claws grazed the vehicle. He would not be afraid. Not anymore.

Then, the final stretch occurred, a large incline right to the hole. David’s mind could see it as Mamón formed the path. A straight decline followed by a sharp incline up. However, Mamón veered off at the last minute, leaving a few car lengths from the end and the hole.

“Dammit! I need to build up as much speed as I can! I need to get up there!” David hit the gas as soon as he declined, rushing down at speeds that made his heart leap out of its chest. He would not waver. He pushed harder as the car made the incline. The speed dropped dramatically.

“No! I won’t be able to make it!” His mind tried to think of a solution, but only turned up blanks. He shut his eyes tight, trying to think of anything.

His heart would answer with a solution, and it was one that his head thought was stupid beyond belief. Gulping, he slammed the gas all the way, staring up as the car flew from the path and into the air. David immediately open the door and scrambled up onto the hood as it ascended.

It rose up and up, getting ever closer to the hole. David licked his lips and bided his time. As soon as the rising sensation turned into a slight drop, he took one giant leap up into the portal. His hands slipped into the portal, and for a moment, David just hung there, dangling thousands of feet into the air. He watched the car plummet and hit an angel on the way down. Then, he was sucked in and was met by a blinding light.
