Epilogue Part 3: Jairo Clyde, the Assassin

While we’re on our duty, we did our part.

“Thank you for attending this ball. I would like to thank the following...” Yeah, we attended the ball. All this time, I was looking out for Jen. It was then that Ken and Nee-chee roamed inside the castle.

“Thank you for attending this ball. I would like to thank the following...” She was also looking out for me, but then I saw her being kidnapped by Warrod.

“You—!” I was ready to face Warrod, but then the princess grabbed my hand. She used a witchcraft on me.

When I woke up, I was already in an underground tunnel. I found myself with the princess.

“What did you do to Jen?!” I shouted at her.

“My... my, dear Jairo. Shouldn’t you lower your voice when you’re asking somebody?” The princess said.

“What are you planning to do with me?”

“Haha, nothing special. I’ll just suck out your life.”

“I can kill you here right now.” I seriously said that.

It’s not like I’m confident, but whether it’s a witch or not. I’ll annihilate anything that blocks my way.

“I know I can’t beat you. That’s why, I’ll negotiate with you.” She said.

It was then that one of the mirrors started showing me something.

Jen appeared in there, unconscious. She was chained and hung above the wall. Warrod hung her up like a portrait. I was furious.

“LAY A FINGER ON HER AND I’LL KILL YOU BOTH TEN TIMES.” I was seething with anger. 

“Whoa, whoa. Calm down, my dear Jairo.” She said.

“I don’t want to hurt her, that’s why... If you give yourself up, I’ll spare her.” She added. 

“ARE YOU AN IDIOT?” I replied. 

“Haha, he really won’t listen to me. As expected of your nephew, Warrod.” They’re communicating using telepathy.

“He’s a gifted assassin. Everyone’s making a fuss over him.” Warrod said.

“Well then, Jairo. If you really wanted to see the dead body of this girl, I’ll send her to hell. You know I don’t lie when it comes to taunting.” Warrod said.

“Warrod, you—!”

“You know I’ll do it, right?” It was then that I agreed. Although it’s against my will, I give myself up in order to protect Jen. I was put under a spell.

“I don’t know the reason why you got easily captured by that witch, it felt like you weren’t yourself, it’s not like you...”

I was captured because of you. They managed to make you a hostage.

It was then I realized...

“He left her sister alone. Please find her for me, Jairo. If it’s you, I know you’ll keep her safe.”

I am already protecting Jen because I want to do it, not because you wished for it, Mirlo.

I now understand what you mean...

“That girl... I know you’ll protect her. Since she’s someone who you could not afford to lose. Dylan felt the same too after he met that girl.”

The next mission was a nightmare.

“So you managed to switch back? Good thing.”

“How the hell did you know that we switch bodies in the first place?”

“The lotus pad is an affection portal.”

“Huh?”

“You guys switched back because one of you started to realize that you love the other. Hahaha, isn’t that amazing?”

“I received a very serious note from the agency. Someone is after your life, Jen.”

“After my life?”

“Yes, it’s a kind of an association. I don’t know what’s going to happen, but in the meantime... I want you to always stick with Jairo.”

“No freaking way!”

“Jairo, you need to watch over her okay?”

“It’s so much trouble. Let her deal with it.”

“HEY LISTEN TO ME!”

“I know you very well, Jairo... That’s why, I know you’ll do it.”

“I said I don’t want to! I’m going back to the university.”

Although I said that, I didn’t plan to lose sight of her.

But Hashimaru just—!!

“Ah, about that lotus pad mission! Do you still remember it, Jen?”

“Yes, why?”

“I never mentioned this before, but that lotus pad has—!”

He just blackmailed me!

“OKAY! I’LL DO IT!”

“Haha, so you actually consider second thoughts! The Jairo Kyuen actually listened to me! Seems like I already found out your weak spot. Haha!”

She looked at me, and smiled.

That’s the first time I heard her say my name. She was so bright and so beautiful just like him.

I covered my face with my hand.

“Jen, now that you mention it... did your parents ever think of you? It’s not like I’m criticizing them, but shouldn’t they be supposed to be around here especially that you’re seriously wounded?”

Shinsui asked her.

“I don’t have a family. I grew up in an orphanage.”

So? How did she and Dylan meet? Were they really connected in blood?

“Hey, thank you! I owe you!”

It made me remember... her.

“You guys don’t need to sacrifice yourselves to protect me, okay?”

When she sacrificed herself to protect us, I was certain.

“I am not mad at her.”

I said.

“I’m blaming myself for not being able to protect her back.”

I promised Mirlo, and I promised myself that I will keep her safe.

Jen woke me up.

“Stop sleeping here, and get up.”

Well, I was sleeping inside the library.

“Leave me alone.”

I said that to her. I was about to go back to sleep.

“I’m just a concerned student. If the girls happened to find out that you’re here, my sanctuary will be flooded with your fan girls.”

Jen explained.

“I don’t care.”

I replied.

“Annoying blockhead.”

She’s mocking me.

“I still owe you.”

When she added that, I suddenly stirred up.

“What?”

Did she remember? That?

“Hey, thank you! I owe you!”

“Give me a discount from that ₱19,075.25.” She said.

“Eh?” That’s it?

“I told you don’t need to pay that!”

“I really insist!”

“HEY, YOU IDIOT! LISTEN TO ME ONCE IN A WHILE!”

“WHY SHOULD I?!”

We were so loud in the library, so...

“Please go out!”

We were kicked out of the library.

“This is your entire fault!”

“Hoho, why me?”

We were still quarrelling.

“Oh? You guys are fighting again?” Shinsui asked.

“Jairo, stop teasing Jen!” Ace exclaimed.

“She was the one who disturbed me though!” I said.

“Hmmm.” Nitsuji reacted.

“What’s with the ‘hmmm’?” I asked.

“Never mind that! Jairo, be gentle with girls. You’re never be popular if you keep doing that, hahaha.” Nee-chee said. He just laughed.

LIKE I CARE!

“Hahaha, you’re right!” Shy agreed.

“Why do you keep taking Jen’s side? Huh? Isn’t that kind of unfair?” I asked.

“Well, we don’t want to make enemies with Jen.” Shinsui and Nee-chee whispered to me.

“So it’s alright if it’s me?” They chose her because they're more scared of her. 

“Let’s eat, guys!” ken insisted.

“YOU ALWAYS EAT!”. Everyone reacted.

The happiness and the sadness you mentioned, Mirlo.

I think they’re just one.

It’s life.

The things that you’ve taught me... and the things that I’ve learned...

... I now know. That life could teach me and make me learn the things I still don’t know.

I have so many people I want to protect now. Thank you for teaching me to have a heart, Mirlo. I will live for them.
