Chapter 12:

What means to be Perfect

Ex-High Schooler Hero

Auron did not wait to enter his first release. Marks like arrows formed on his arms pointing to his hands and two smaller ones under his eyes. The wind by his side became agitated. He felt all his power, still he was hesitant.

“You are already hurt and I defeated all your allies with one move, how do you think you can possibly defeat a perfect being as myself?”

In his core Auron knew Turbo was right, but he could not stop right now, he would do this to the end, when he heard metal hitting the floor by his side.

Kazen’s sai was outside his whirlwind prison and he heard a new voice crackling.

“You have no time, pick me and prepare to fight.”

The voice seemed to come from the sai and the boy accepted the advice right in time, since Turbo came his way. His sword hit the sai, throwing Auron a couple of meters, but not inflicting any damage.

“Kazen cannot leave, but he summoned me outside so you can have a chance.”

“Who are you?”

“Watch out!”

It was hard to talk since Turbo continued attacking. He made slashing movements in the air and each one summoned a flying cut. Auron had his speed upgraded with the first release and, thanks to the sai’s warning, he could dodge all of them. Each slash cut the walls and pillars of the temple, making Auron think what would happen to him if he was hit.

“We have no time to talk, I’m Bob, Kazen’s familiar and right now, the only chance you have. Listen, Kazen sent a message through me. Turbo can’t use the Wind Star while holding the Infinite Whirlwind, so you have a chance.”

“I’m still weaker than Turbo, he is in his second release.”

Turbo jumped with his backwards legs, using wind to boost his speed even more. Auron tried to doge again, but a gust wall appeared behind him, cutting his back and once again used Bob to defend the swords, falling to the ground in the process.

“Listen kid, even if I’m a familiar I still am a fire elemental. Your first release plus my power may be enough.”

While the weird voice of the weapon ran through his head an idea came.

“Oxygen can give power to fire!”

Ignoring his words Turbo was over his head, holding his sword down.

“Don’t worry, I’m not going to kill my own nephew. I think taking just an arm would be enough to teach you the lesson.”

The boy pointed the sai to Turbo’s direction and screamed with all his energy. Flames came from the weapons as Auron summoned gusts, powering the fire. Soon an attack that Auron thought rivals the ones from Kazen was finished, covering Turbo in ashes.

The Infinite Whirlwind stopped and Kazen arrived to catch Auron before he fell to the ground.

“That kid is good.” Said Bob when Auron was already unconscious.

“Yes, they all are.”

Five people were on the small beach of the town as a beautiful sun set happened on the horizon. Auron was up, full of bandages talking to Lapis and Fulgor, both with their wounds treated. The wind elemental was holding his star and looking down, feeling uncomfortable.

“Thanks…” Said him with a lowered voice.

“What was that?” Continued Fulgor teasing the boy.

“You heard me already! Thank you. You both. I never could make this alone.”

“We barely did anything.” Said Lapis almost apologizing.

“That is not true… You came after me. No one has ever done that before...”

Fulgor slapped him on the shoulder, not realizing he was already too hurt.

“You are a pain in the ass, but I would not let you suffer like that. And your father is an even bigger pain. If you need a place to crash you can come to my house anytime.”

Auron could not stop the tears forming in his eyes with that gesture and he tried to hide to them. In the end he extended his hands to Fulgor.

“I’m sorry, I have been so mean to you. Thank you, thank you both.”

The two shook hands as Kazen was talking to Ferrum.

“Why don't you fight anymore? You are the only one who could give me a good fight.”

Ferrum smiled at each phrase Kazen sent, like he was still a child.

“I have found my new purpose, I don’t need to fight. You also don’t need to. There is nothing else you wish to do?”

He did not even think before answering.

“Of course not! Don’t you miss it? The cursed tree, the dragons? Salazar! We didn’t even defeat him, we just sealed him away, he can return anytime!”

“Well, in that case, it’s good that you are still doing this, but Salazar is an ancient story, just like our fights.”

Kazen could not accept that, his rival didn't want to be a rival. Instead he turned around seeing the kids hand shake.

“It’s time to go! Your parents are going to kill me and I’m definitely fired this time.”

He made Lapis hold in his back as he picked each boy with a hand.

“God, that is going to be heavier than before.”

While Kazen was transforming, Ferrum got closer with the same friendly smile.

“Call me. Maybe we can meet with Alis too, it would be good to stay in touch with you guys.”

For one second of clarity Kazen understanded his feelings. Just for one second, after that he returned to be offended by Ferrum’s choice like he betrayed Kazen, and the fire elemental flew away as the trio gave goodbye to Ferrum.

When they returned to their city it was already night as they flew under a beautiful full moon.

Auron went to both Fulgor’s and Lapis’ house, telling Fulgor’s mom and a bunch of women in Lapis’ family that they helped him together with a teacher and thanked everybody multiple times.

On the steps of Fulgor’s house, the only ones left were Kazen and Auron.

“I really think you can stay here, I mean, after the hospital which I am going to take you now.”

The teen looked at Fulgor’s home, a small house, which was smaller than his own, but looked a lot more like a home.

“Maybe later, I must have a conversation with my father. He has to learn that I’m perfect the way I am.”

Kazen gave a long sigh as he was tired of taking people flying everywhere.

“No problem, just remember to tell the school tomorrow that I was out helping you.”

Auron agreed and went to his home, feeling more free than he ever had.
