Chapter 4 Restart

As soon as she woke up the next morning, she went straight to Carla's cabin, to explain about what happened to her. These kinds of disputes are unusual in the village, Carla asked her to pay a visit to Jayden. He knows how to handle these situations better.

Jayden told her that probably someone finds her useless, that might be the reason this someone is trying to get rid of her, why?Another reason could be that a few huma disliked Melissa and they saw Maria getting close to her, Maria doesn't buy it of course there's something he doesn't want her to know.

She's adding fertilizer to the plants, after she finishes she planned to go check her cabin but Nate calls her.

Hey, Maria, come and see this!.

Nate found a rusty cross, during his free time he likes to explore around the village and dig to find interesting things, last week he found a cap, Maria looks close to the cross and tells him that is not rusty but dirt, she walked him to the river, cleaned the cross with water and voila*.

Maria accepts the gift and puts it around her neck, Nate smiles back and she went back to her room, over her pillow she found a note, You gain nothing by looking for me, you're going to end up dead anyways.

The note clearly meant a threat but that doesn't mean who wrote it was going to do something, her encounter with Nate may have been orchestrated to keep her entertained or her suspicions about Jaycob are right.

Nothing happened in two days, however most of her daily activities were all alone and pretty easy to be completed in less than a hour, she maintained acting like she usually does, but most of the villager left her isolated, she never tried to approached them until today, all went good, nothing seem off, nobody treated her different.

This doesn't explain why she was excluded, the huma who attemps against her life couldn't've threatened the entire village, maybe the entire village wants to get rid of her.

Maria went to Carlota and asked her why they dont expand, even if they can reproduce hopefully they can encounter other huma communities and may they already found a way to reproduce or even clone themselves, they gain nothing by staying locked up in a small village on montains.

They already tried, along time ago the village had around 97 huma living on it, the expansionism was always i their minds,a couple of disputes and huma getting lost made all the efforts to advance ended up turning against themselves, thats why it was decided to stay here, the idea of having two chiefs came because having all the responsibilities on one single person made them sick of power and turned them into tyrants.

So what if she leaves, Carlota hasn't explained what would or had happened to people who wanted to leave the village.

They can't, we”ve never gone out, we lack experience and survival instinct, so what if you go out?, ally with other rebels and start a war against us?, thats not going to happen.

Carlota closed her eyes after that, Maria was hit on the head from behind leaving her unconscious.
