Chapter 3 Hurricaine

Two days have passed since Melissa deceased, Maria has been asleep the whole time, life remained the same, despite the loss of two everyone acts as if noted had happened, maybe is because they understand that their lives are replaceable, their fate or nobody cares about the death of those two, the average age in the village is 1-2 years old, then Amalia 12, Yulisa 10, Nate 4 & Maria 2, even if nobody asks about the age gap between them, seems like they were all the same age and restarts o a decade is not much of a deal to them.

The former room of Melissa is being put together “again”, it hasn’t been decided what is going to happen with the room or if it is going to be closed indefinitely.

Maria has to help on a forest exploration, this day she’s going to help Esteban and two other huma, each one of them rides a horse, they’re going to the south of the outskirts of the village, 5 miles ahead they spotted 3 bears devouring 2 deers, they aim with their bows and shoot, the bears were hurt and tried to run away but Esteban and Maria followed them , and guided them to a trap. The bears fell into a hole of 4 meters of profundity.

Surrounded, the bears died after consecutive arrow attacks, Maria and another huma descended into the hole to get the bears out by tangle their bodies to a three and with the help of Esteban and the other two to pull them out.

After the went back to the village, the furs were given to Anastasia, and half of the meat was stored to eat later, the remaining thrown to the river, huma have no need to eat, the do it because appears in their database and they’re capable of doing it so, the lack sense of taste nor eat big amounts of food.

When night falls everyone sit around the fire, every huma take some meat, Maria looks around she sees everyone eating except Esteban, she was about to stand up and ask about his whereabouts but she’s stopped by Nate.

Hey, you’re not going to eat that?.

She glared at him, gave him her leftovers and spent the night with everyone.

Next mourning someone is knocking at her door, she opened it, Anne is one of the newborn,she asked her if she had seen Esteban, Anne told her that Jayden had ordered him to go and pick up some tool from the storage nobody has seen him since, he’s not in the storage,his room or with the horses.

Maria felt something wrong, so she told Anne that she hadn’t seen him, goes back to her room and stayed there the rest of the day, every huma has a free day at the week, when the month is about to end she gets an extra day.

She woke up in the middle of the sunset, goes out for a walk, she stretched herself and the wind started blowing at her face, a few raindrops fell from the sky in her head, a blue neon spark shines outside of the village, a storm is about to start she listened Carla’s voice at the distance telling her to go back to her cabin.

The blue neon spark is emitted by huma when they’re mad in the dark. The storm continued the entire night so she’s going to wait until tomorrow to tell Carla about what she saw.

As soon as she woke up she went to Carla, she told her that she shouldn’t worry, maybe she couldn’t really see well so she thought it was the blue spark, Maria doesn’t like the answer. She started her routine by feeding cows and look after the chickens, then she climbed up the towers to see if something was happening.

She look at every direction and nothing seemed out of the ordinary. It seemed like a normal cloudy day with some wind, she look Esteban and three other huma riding horses from afar, so he finally appeared. Everything seemed normal.

Maria listened to some noises, looked around and she could listened anything she decided to go down….

WHO'S THERE?!!!.

Someone has been trying to tear down the tower where she was, the suspicious figure hide into the bushes and runaway despide of how fast she descended. That hooded huma had already left with no sign to tail after.
