Chapter 29:

Your Choice (2)

The Worst Hero

Mahina was still resting on my back, so I made as little noise as possible and put her down for a while. With some leaves and some sticks I made a small comfortable place for her to lie down.

The biggest problem was her injuries, she needs a doctor. I can't wait two weeks to get into town, in the meantime she might... Tsc what the hell !!!!

Um, I think I'll look at the map and go look for a nearby village or town. But, as I was looking for somewhere to take Mahina, I noticed that there was something written right in the corner of the map. It was a warning from Sheele about some medicinal plants that might be useful, I'm pretty sure she put this warning so that if there was any trouble with me, but it will help Mahina for sure. There was even a drawing for each plant, and although she only put 3 medicinal plants, I can't complain at all.

The plant that I was interested in is the lédarolas that it says here is good for wounds. So I went in search of this plant and although it took me a long time to find it, I did. I took advantage of the trip and picked some edible mushrooms and some herbs to make a soup for Mahina.

Then, just as in Sheele's instructions, I mashed the Lédarolas plant until it was in a mushy form. I used this to make Mahina's soup, and although I had no salt, I used some herbs that I found as seasoning. While I was making the soup, Mahina woke up, perhaps because of the smell of food.

It was already night, and, despite the usual chill and wind of the evening, the fire where I warmed the soup was warming our bones.

- "Good evening, Mahina-san."

-"...H-Hi..."

As soon as she woke up, I took some leaves, put the medicine on them, excused myself and put them on Mahina's wounds.

- "N-Ngh..."

- "It must be hurting, sorry, but just hold on a little longer, this is necessary for you to be okay."

- "It's okay."

With my yarn, I attach the sheets with the medicine to her wounds carefully so that she feels as little pain as possible. She has wounds on various parts of her body, on her legs, on her thighs, and even on her face. I had a piece of Mahina's torn clothing and with it, I went towards the river that was very close to where we were standing and soaked the piece of cloth until it was very wet. Then I wrung the cloth, so that most of the water ran out, and with the cloth, I wiped the blood from Mahina's face.

I asked permission to do this, of course. Gently, so as not to hurt her, I began to wipe her face with the cloth. Her face is very soft, and each time I wiped her face, I noticed that her snow-white face became more and more "red". Maybe I am putting too much force on her face, maybe this explains why she is trying to look away all the time.

I had realized this a long time ago, but she is very beautiful, very so. If she were from my world, she would surely be an Idol or a famous model, her black hair is beautiful despite the mistreatment, her lips look so soft and her black eyes are...

Well, um... the soup should be ready by now.

After I took care of her, I served the soup on a wooden "plate" that I made myself. It's not the most beautiful dish in the world, but at least it's useful.
I served her the soup, and as usual, she was a little wary of eating it, but I can't blame her, since this comes from the slavery she suffered.

So to give her courage, I started to eat the soup.

-"Hum, it's not that bad hehe."

-"..."

She looked at me with a different stare than usual, looked at the soup and started to eat.

- "So good..."

She didn't cry like she did last time, but her eyes were full of tears, I could tell. She then started to devour the soup.

- "Eh... I..."

- "Yes...?

- "Can I have some more?

I'm not a smiling person, that's part of my personality, or maybe it's a result of my childhood. But now I can't hold back my laughter.

- "Hahaha... of course you can."

She also gave me a smile, a very nice smile by the way.

After we ate, we went to sleep a little. Tomorrow I will make some more medicine and take care of her a little more.

She lay down on the leaf mat that I made for her and I lay on the ground with my head in the tree.

What a day! I really need some rest....

- "I-..."

- "Huh?"

-...Iori !"

-"Yes?"

- "Thank you so much, thank you so much for protecting me !"

-"..."

I'm the one who has to thank you.

-"You should save some of your energy for tomorrow."

- "Y-Yes..."

See you tomorrow Mahina.
