Deal

A bright light appeared in front of him, and a voice said, "Remember me Nathan?"

"Who is it?"

"It's me Nathan, the Garden of Dreams..."

"What are you doing here? What happened to everybody else?"

"Don't worry, everybody is fine. I'm here to help you Nathan."

"Help me? How?"

"Tell me, do you regret not wishing for power? Do you now realize what you did wrong?"

"Yes, I should have asked for strength, I shouldn't have been so selfish."

"It's alright Nathan, we all learn from our mistakes. I'm sure you've learned your lesson."

"Yes, but what can I do now? I'm powerless, I can't do anything! I'm useless!"

"I know how you must be feeling Nathan, but it's okay. Things can still get better."

"How?"

"I have a deal for you Nathan."

"A deal?"

"Yes, a deal."

"What kind of deal?"

"How far you willing to go to rectify your mistakes?"

"As far as it would take me."

"Are you willing to sacrifice something?"

"Yes, as long as the sacrifice hurts only me and not the ones I love."

"I must tell you though, the damage which already has been done cannot be undone."

"I understand. It would be great even if I could prevent any further damage."

"Very well then, you shall hear what I have to offer."

Nate stood there, hoping that he could somehow make this right.

"I shall grant you extraordinary power and strength in exchange of your soul."

"What does that mean?"

"You see Nathan, I have been doing this for job thousands of years now and I've become bored of it."

"You're a literal god, how can you be bored?"

"I'm not a god Nathan, I'm not a human either, but over the years, I've developed human-like ambitions and feelings."

"What is that supposed to mean?"

"It means that I've grown fond of humans, and I myself wish to become one."

"So you want to live human life?"

"Exactly. I could live a human life in my own void if I wanted to, but I need something real, I need a break from my boring and never-ending life, I want to live and die as a human."

"So what exactly are you offering me?"

"I'm offering you my job Nathan, I'm offering you my power, in exchange for your life."

"I don't understand. What exactly will you gain out of this? You'll lose your power and end up as a mere human? How will that benefit you?"

"I'm not looking for benefit Nathan. In this universe, two contrasting and opposite beings always have contrasting and opposite desires. A mortal from your world desires extraordinary power such as mine, and here I am, a being with extraordinary power who desires the life of a mortal. Bizarre, isn't it?"

"Yes, it definitely is bizarre."

"So...do you accept this deal?"

"I still don't understand one thing, how exactly will you take my life?"

"I'll give you power for now, not my complete power, but enough to face your enemies. And when your work is done, I'll come again, and I'll replace your soul with mine. You will become me and I'll become you."

"So I'll basically have to sacrifice everything in order to fight my enemies."

"Yes, basically."

"It isn't a good deal..."

"Have you got any other choice? The whole world will perish if you don't do anything. At least, this way you'll be able to save it."

"You've got a point."

"So...what will it be?"

"Answer me this first, why didn't you stop the COUNCIL? How could you let them trick you?"

"I knew that they were going to do something like that, but I couldn't have done anything to them even if I wanted to. I don't have much power in your world, I'm just like a mere portal here..."

"But if you knew then you shouldn't have granted his wish..."

"I didn't grant his wish Nathan. I granted him his desired world, in which he had this god-like power, but that world instead of being a fake one, ended up being the real world, your world."

"If you don't have any power in this world, then how are you able to do this? How will you grant me power?"

"Since you've lived in my world too. You now belong to both the worlds Nathan, mine and yours. You see, that's why I'm only able to talk to you and not anyone else."

"I see. But why are you helping me?"

"Oh! I'm not helping you Nathan, if anything, I'm cursing you and helping myself. Immortality, and that too all alone, is nothing less that a curse."

"Then what makes you think I'll accept it?" 

"I just know you Nathan, I've been inside your mind. You'll accept it." 

Nathan didn't have to think this through, of course he would accept it. This was his one and only choice.

"I accept it." he said.

"Very well, you shall have a fraction of my power."

"What exactly would my powers be? Super strength? Telekinesis?"

"No, nothing like that. I can only grant you a defensive power, which will make you resistant towards the leader's attacks."

"Well, this isn't exactly the kind of 'power' I was expecting but I'll have to do everything I can with this."

Nate was granted power and now he was ready to fight the COUNCIL. 

"I'll be back after you've won Nathan."

"Wait, what if I don't win?"

"You'll have to see the outcome of that for yourself."

The Garden of Dreams disappeared after saying this.

Everyone around Nathan started moving again, as if the world had come back to life. 

Nathan looked at his hands, he didn't feel any different.

"Nate! let's get the hell out of here!" Jake shouted. He had been waiting at the end of the bridge for Nathan. 

The attacks stopped temporarily. Nate and Tessa, along with Jake, went back to Nodax. 

This became global news. All the wards of the world were terrified. 

The leaders of the world government held a meeting to discuss their next step. 
The army was deployed and all the wards were on tight security. The police departments from all over the world had begun the hunt for the COUNCIL. Each and every drone that was built by the government was put to use.
Some safe houses and shelters were created in just a couple of hours, to protect the common public. 

Some of the other organizations saw this as a golden opportunity and declared war against the world government. 

The world was in a true state of chaos. 

No one knew what the COUNCIL was going to do next, and this fact feared them the most. 

Nate tested his physical strength, but it was the same as before.

Nate somehow wanted to go and fight the COUNCIL on his own, but he couldn't do that. He had some explaining to do to the NCPD. 
He went to see Captain Matthew along with Jake and Rey. 

The four of them sat on the table and Nate decided to tell them everything. 

Nate tried to explain them about his powers as simply as possible, but they still couldn't believe it. 

"You're out of your mind kid! Nothing like that is possible!" said Captain Matthew.

"And those explosions were, huh? There was no sign of bombs or explosives anywhere and yet three wards were blown up somehow. How do you think that was possible?"

"I just can't believe this." 

"But you'll have to trust me, you have no other choice! You simply can't win against the COUNCIL, you can't win against their leader!"

"Fine, I'll trust you for now."

"So what shall we do now? Jake asked.

"I've got a plan." Nathan replied.
