Chapter 5:

Unleashing Brain Data

Void in the Realm

“I’m glad you are awake,” Myra said when V opened his eyes. “What happened?” V asked. “At the café you fainted, Dylan and I rushed you to the hospital.” Myra said.

“Do you know Dylan?” V asked. “Yes, Dylan works for GROWL. He’s from another department,” Myra said.

Dylan is tall, has a dusky complexion with short black curly hair. He has a fit structure who works out regularly. He always wears a chain that’s made of black thread with a simple gold single eye pendant. He wears a cowboy detective hat and a long coat during winters.

“How are you feeling now?” Dylan asked. “I am doing good. Thanks for asking. How long have you been working for GROWL?” V asked quickly. “I've been working for 7 years. May I know why you are asking?” Dylan responded.

V has known Dylan for five years now. He was perplexed. Katie pulled up information about Dylan from universe 425. Dylan has been living on this earth from the beginning. “Then how come Dylan was present there too? Why did I hear Dylan from universe 12 asking for help?” V thought to himself.

V asked Katie to pull up information about Dylan from universe 12 before five years. No records found. “What?” “Katie, get the current location of Dylan in universe 12,” V ordered. “Unable to reach,” Katie responded.

“I need to go,” said V. “You might have to take some rest until you get better,” the doctor suggested. “This is important,” V said. “You were in a coma for two days straight, it’s not safe for you to go outside now,” Myra said.

“Yes, you may take some rest tonight and once you feel better, we can get to wherever you want to,” Dylan said calmly. “Dr. Luther had returned back from his vacation and he wishes to talk to you now if you are okay with it,” he added. “I would love to,” V said.

“Hello V, how are you feeling now?” Dr. Luther asked. “I am doing absolutely fine. I am ready to get discharged even right now,” V responded. “You may take your time and get to the lab when you feel ready. No rush,” Dr. Luther mentioned in a very genuine voice. “I have got you covered with stay, food and all the medical expenses while you are here. Feel free to reach out to me anytime,” he added. “Thank you. I will definitely come to the lab tomorrow. I feel better already and they are just keeping me for observation tonight,” V answered.

The next day Myra and V both went to the lab. “Are you feeling better? You should have taken more rest,” Myra said in a concerned way. “I need to get back to universe 12 as early as possible. Something doesn’t feel right. And as far as I know for now, the only way is through Dr. Luther’s help,” V answered.

“Welcome V!” Dr. Luther exclaimed. Dr. Luther looks kind and his voice is a little husky but bold. He wears glasses and most of the time in the lab, he wears his white lab coat. “ I have been waiting for your arrival for a long time. Your friend Raven was supposed to be here as he has more work experience. But that’s okay, I am glad you are here.” Dr. Luther walked towards V with a big smile on his face while saying this.

‘Was that why Raven got captured by Dr. Luther? What is he up to?” V’s mind was filled with thoughts. Raven works for GROWL in Universe 12. He works as a time travel specialist and V has assisted him on a few tasks.

“Well, let’s get started. Shall we?” Dr. Luther insisted. “Ray, get the things ready. V and Myra, please get seated,” he added. They both were placed with brain equipment and it was connected to the system. “Your brain data will be preserved in the system and will be kept safe so that if anything happens to any of you, you could be saved and your life could be restored,” Dr. Luther explained why he was saving their brain data.

Within five minutes, both of their brain datum were stored in separate systems. This did not affect any of their memories. It made a copy of their brain data and did not alter or delete any of it.

Myra was assigned to work on the turquoise tornado with V’s copied brain data.

Dr. Luther knew there was a similar tornado in universe 12 and he assumed V might know something about it.

Myra initially worked with the copied data that was available in the system for two days. She did not get any useful information regarding the turquoise tornado.

After this work was assigned to Myra, she had neither seen V nor Dr. Luther. After two days, V rushed into the lab and came to meet Myra.

“Myra, I think you might have to work with my real time brain data. Our universe might be in danger and I must go back,” suggested and his voice was very tense. “I cannot do that. I might alter your brain and I have never done that before. It is unethical,” Myra said in a whispering voice as if she was being watched by her every move. “Fill me in. What happened these two days? Where were you? I was in the lab all day long and I neither saw you nor Dr. Luther,” Myra said these in a very fast pace as if she was so anxious. “I did learn a lot about you from the data you have in your brain but somehow it seems like an unsolvable puzzle,” said Myra. “Yes, I have masked it, and that is the main reason I want you to connect to my brain directly. I regained pieces of memories that were somehow removed from my brain after I got back from coma. Trust me, you will find everything you need from my memories but I cannot share it with you as I can’t let out any of those information through any modes of communication,” said V with a very serious face.

“Where is Dr. Luther?” Myra asked. “He’s where he is supposed to be right now. And you cannot use the system to get my information as it can be stolen. You might have to connect with my brain directly when you do that,” V said. “I am still working on that project and it’s not yet completed,” Myra said. “Okay you may take two days time and that’s about it. After which, with whatever we have, we might have to use the equipment. And more importantly, do not tell anyone about this information,” V warned and left quickly.

Myra was a little bit skeptical about this but all she knew is V has to get back to his universe. Even though she did not know what exactly was going on, she needed the information from V to work on the task at hand. She was also curious about the turquoise tornado.

Myra worked secretly on this project. She went to her lab and when no one was there she worked on testing it with a couple of Rays. She viewed the results of the sender Ray and the receiver Ray. It wasn’t perfect. The information taken from sender Ray was erased after it was read and the receiver Ray got distorted information that is a series of images that has to be pieced together in order to figure out the solution. But this was tested on robots and it might work differently when two humans are involved. Two days passed by without having completely working brain helmets.

“You have to get the information from me immediately before it’s too late,” V said, rushing into Myra’s lab. “It doesn’t work properly yet. I might need more time,” Myra insisted. “Sorry, I have to do this,” he kept the sender's brain helmet on his head and closed his eyes. “Wait!” Myra tried to grab it from him but it was too late. If only one device is connected, there won’t be any receiver so all the brain data goes into thin air and the sender will lose all of his memories. Myra had to keep the other device on hers before he loses his memory.

Once Myra wore the receiver brain helmet and closed her eyes, she could see white blinking lights as if the stars were twinkling but only nearer. It was so beautiful. Each one of these stars had his memories locked so that no one could view them. She has to choose it wisely as once she picks one and views it, he might lose that memory forever. She then thought about the turquoise tornado and visualized in her head, how it looks. One of the stars started blinking faster and it was brighter than all the other stars. She went near it and reached it.

A screen popped up. There were 12 cross 12 dots on that screen. When she touched it, it turned into a maze. It was fully black with 11 pathways. Myra was standing outside of the maze. She imagined it would be like a phone unlock pass code but only in three dimensions. She could see the solution in front of her eyes as if she was suddenly wearing a virtual reality lens. As she enters each dead end with multiple pathway options, the virtual reality lens visual will navigate her to get out of the maze. Once she was out of the maze, she was astonished by what she saw in front of her.

The whole black background were filled with flashes of images and there was a big screen in front of her. On that screen she saw three dimensional clips of a series of incidents.

First, she saw Dr. Luther trying to kill V. But it was not GROWL’s current lab. It looked like it was his universe. V was tied up. Next, she saw images of V with a bunch of pirates. She saw a gold-colored tornado, when V and the other pirates were on a ship. It was the same pirate costume that he first wore when she met him. Myra saw a shadow image of a female in that gold-colored tornado. Finally, she saw an image of the turquoise tornado where Dr. Luther cut V’s hand and poured his blood onto it.

This all happened in a flash. Both opened their eyes. This was the information V wanted Myra to know. “Can you please show your right hand?,” Myra asked V. His right hand had a cut and he had a bandage on it.
