Lucifer: “That’s the Detective?”

Aradia: “Dad”

Detective: “Dad? Aradia-san you found him!”

Lucifer: “I would have to say my daughter told me about the conversation you two had. And I’d have to say it made me quite angry”

Lucifer: “So now, you have 5… no I’ll be generous. 10 seconds to leave or else it wouldn’t take me 2 seconds to drag you from here to Hell with the way you made my girl feel”

Aradia: “Dad”

Aradia: “I know you’re just trying to protect me, but please let me handle this”

Lucifer: “But..”

Aradia: “Please, daddy. Let me do this”

Aradia: “You have…”

Aradia: “5 minutes before we have to get to the airport”

Detective: “I wanted to say, I’m sorry. I guess I just needed to process a few things, I just needed… I just needed some time. I came back later that day but I saw your car gone and the house was locked. I panicked. I tried to look for you everywhere but I couldn’t find you. Aradia-san I came by every day in hope that you would come back. I felt so lost, I felt so alone. Aradia-san I lo…”

Aradia: “DON’T!”

Aradia: “Don’t say you love me! Please!”

Detective: “But why? It’s the truth”

Aradia: “Because you hurt me!”

*She continues to yell at him before walking to her car*

Lucifer: “Princess, I get that you’re upset, but I think you should at least forgive him”

Aradia: “Forgive him? For what? For breaking my heart? Or for not letting me hold his daughter who he KNOWS I Love and would do anything and everything to protect? Or for making me feel like a monster?”

Detective: “For all those things”

Detective: “Aradia-san”

*He then proceeds to tell her how much he loves her and it ends with them kissing*

Aradia: “Where’s my little Raindrop, Detective? I want to see her”

Detective: “She’s with my neighbour. But you can only see her on one condition?”

Detective: “You have to call me by my name not, Detective”

Aradia: “Kai”

Dad decided to go back to LA and told me to stay here and sort things out and I should come tomorrow. So before driving to the Detective’s place we drove to the airport and dropped Dad off. But I do have to say, my Father was giving Kai the evils even when he was going through customs.

We drove off and I was sitting in the passenger seat humming along to the radio quietly as Kai was driving. Occasionally he was put his hand on my thigh and squeeze it a little making me gasp.

“Kai” I whispered, squeezing my legs.

“Hmm, something the matter, Love?” he asked, innocently.

Innocent, my ass!

He gave me a confused look, his eyebrows furrowed slightly but there was a twinkle in his eye that meant trouble.

“Nothing” I turned my head so I was looking out of the window.

I heard him chuckle softly as he held my hand bringing it up to his lips, he kissed it a couple of times and rubbed the back with his thumb.

I swear he makes me feel things no Man ever has.

We got to his house and told me to wait in the living room while he went to get Anya. I nodded and sat there waiting anxiously. I saw two eyes looking at me from under the table and that was when I remembered Bond.

“Come here, boy” I say as he runs to me licking my hands and face making me laugh.

“I missed you too, Bond” I say scratching behind his ears.

Bond curled up near my feet and placed his head on my lap as I continued petting his head, but my knee couldn’t help but bounce as I wondered what my baby’s reaction will be when she sees me.

Will she be mad when she sees me?

Will she want me around?

What will she say?

Wha…

My monologue came to a halt when the door opened and I heard small footsteps hit the floorboards.

“Papa I…” Ana stops when she looks at me.

Her eyes are wide and her mouth is in a small O shape as she continues to stare at me.

“H-hey, Raindrop” I say, gulping.

God, I’ve never been so scared in my life.

“Aradia-san” she shouts running up and throwing her arms over my neck.

She buried her face in the crook of my neck and inhaled.

“I missed you” she whispered.

I wrapped my arms around her small frame and squeezed, not took tight that she popped but just enough to say, ‘I’m here now’

“I’m so sorry I left without telling you, Raindrop” I told her.

I kissed her forehead, her cheeks, and her cute little button nose. She erupted into giggles as I stood up throwing her in the air and catching her.

“You’re not gonna leave me again, are you?” she asked me looking up.

I looked back at her; I couldn’t lie so I smiled at her instead.

“Even if I do go, I promise I’ll always come back to visit”

She continued to stare at me cutely before nodding.

“Promise?” she asked holding her little hand out.

“Cross my heart. Hope to fly. Stick a cupcake in my eye” I promised placing my hand on top of hers, turning it around and giving her hand a kiss.

“Oh I made you something” she then told me and wiggled out of my grip.

I gently placed her down so her feet touched the ground and watched as she left the room.

“What did you mean?” Kai asked sitting next to me.

“I can’t stay here forever” I chuckled.

“Why not? We’re finally together. Are you seriously leaving me again?” he asked.

I looked down and placed my hand on top of his.

“I’m the Ruler of Hell and have left my duties for far too long. I can’t leave it unattended for any longer. Dad doesn’t want to go back so I have to. Hell needs a warden” I told him.

He placed his hand on my cheek making me look at him.

“Then take me with you. I can’t live her without you. I lost my wife I can’t lose you too”

“You can’t. No one alive can survive Hell. The force will… it will kill you by the time we enter” I explain.

It broke… no. It crushed my heart seeing those tears in his eyes but I had to go back one of these days.

A small voice pulled us out of our conversation as Anya came back into the room. The tension between Kai and I long gone as the sweet girl’s smile cleared the darkness in the room.

“I made these for you” she said giving me a few sheets of paper with drawings.

“Oh my days” I gasped as I felt tears in my eyes.

“This is you” she pointed to a girl with long brown hair and brown eyes.

“And this is me and Papa” she pointed to a smaller girl with pink hair up to her shoulders and green eyes, and a tall guy with grey eyes and blue hair.

“It’s so cute, Raindrop. You’re so talented” I hugged her, kissing the top of her head.

She gave me another hug as I looked up to the Detective. He had a smile on his face but his eyes were saying something else, there was sadness behind them and it pained me to think that I was the reason he was hurt, again.

The rest of the evening we played games and had loads of snacks before it was time for Anya to go to bed.

“I really like having you here, Aradia-san” Anya told me, she was struggling to keep her eyes open as she was so tired, but that smile didn’t disappear from her face.

“I like being here too, Raindrop” I told her as I tucked her in so she was snug as a bug.

I passed her her teddy and she hugged it.

“Goodnight, Anya” the detective whispered, kissing the top of her head.

“Goodnight, Raindrop” I whispered too kissing the top of her head.

I got up slowly and saw Kai standing but the door, holding it open, the light from the hallway was outlining his frame, as he stood with one hand on the doorknob and the other in his pocket, and as I tiptoed closer I saw he was also looking tired, but there was a smile on his face.

We left the room and he shut the door with a click.

“Well, I… I should be going. I’ll come back to see Anya before I go back to LA tomorrow” I tell him.

I turn to grab my jacket when I feel something warm hold my wrist, I turn to see Kai holding me.

“Please, stay. Just for tonight” he asks.

Please, Kai. Don’t make this anymore harder for me than it already is.

I look back at the main door, the clock, my jacket on my arm, and Kai’s fingers wrapped around my wrist.

“Okay” I finally decide and see a smile break out on his face.

“Yes!” he cheers.

“Shh” I say quickly pressing my palm against his lips to silence him.

“Oops, sorry” he whispers, chuckling.

I laugh as he holds my hand and quickly takes me upstairs.

“Can I borrow spare clothes?” I ask.

He nods passing me his shirt. I take it to the bathroom and undress out of my jeans and t-shirt and put on his shirt, it reached my knees and I had to roll the sleeves up a little. It smelt exactly like Kai.

God, I’m gonna miss this when I go back.

I walk out to see Kai on his phone as he sits on his bed, I walk slowly and once I have his attention he looks at me with his jaw dropped. I look down shyly and tuck a strand of hair behind my ear.

He slowly walks to me and I hold the hem of the shirt in my fists. I close my eyes and slowly open them when he holds my hand guiding me towards the bed. He sits and I climb on the bed, sitting next to him.

He turns the light off and lies down gently pulling me towards him so my head is on his chest. He proceeds to gently comb his fingers through my hair with one hand and with the other he was drawing small shapes on my arm.

This is not at all what I expected.

“Kai” I whispered, getting up.

“Hmm?” he hummed and got up too.

“What’s the matter, Love? Are you not comfortable? If you want I’ll go and sleep downstairs it’s no problem. I can…”

I again placed my hand on his lips.

“Uff. No I’m fine. It’s just when you came towards me I thought we were…”

“Oh.” Was all he said.

He crossed his legs and faced me, taking my hands in his.

“Love, firstly we JUST became a couple and I think we should take things slow, I’m not gonna force you to do things you might not want to. And secondly I would want your consent first and the biggest consent would be a ring on your finger, but even then I would ask you” he told me, tucking a hair behind my ear.

It took me a while to process his words before I hugged him.

“No one has ever thought of me before. At least not like this, thank you, Kai” I told him, burying my face in his chest.

I felt him smooth the back of my hair before placing a kiss on the top of my head and then my shoulder.

“It’s late, we should get some sleep” he told me.

I nodded and lay back down on his chest.

I can’t believe I go back tomorrow. This may be a goodbye but goodbye’s aren’t forever. I have a feeling I’ll be back sooner than I think.
