Chapter 29:

Chapter 10. The Monster (IV)

The Spirit In Me

"She doesn't deserve it..." Shira mumbled softly.

"I warned her, and she didn't listen to me." Dot answered as he shook his head.

"You brought this on yourself. You knew what would happen." Dot said to Loy who was still stuck in shock. "You're a monster and you always will be. And today, I'm not afraid of you anymore." he said with determination.

Suddenly, a powerful thump was heard.

The punch hit Loy's face like in slow motion, throwing his entire body up into the air and knocking him face first to the floor. Loy raised himself slightly, looking at the floor.

"You caused it." Dot claimed standing over him.

"You knew that was what was going to happen from the first moment." he added.

"He's right." said a high-pitched voice from Loy mind in a joyful smirk, raising his eyebrows with satisfaction.

"Poor girl..." Dot said pitifully as he looked towards the school gate. He looked back at Loy lying on the floor.

"Whenever the world dares to forget who you are, I'll be right here to remind it." he swore as he walked away from him, towards the school exit. Dot's gang quickly hurried to join him.

"That was crazy!" yelled Toa with great excitement and enthusiasm. "Yeah... only that I didn't expect her to react like that." Dot said worriedly. "I expected she'd be scared, but not to this level. The look in her eyes... I've seen that look twice in my life..." Dot said aloud.

"Ye-yeah... she couldn't stand on her feet... she was completely terrified." Toa said in wonder.

"Even though I didn't expect it, I'm glad it happened. Apparently, she understood better than I thought what she was up against." Dot said in completeness. "Even though it hurts, it's like a parent teaching their child. I had to do it... for her. She'll soon figure it out and come back to me like she should have in the first place." he closed his eyes in delight.

The crowd of teenagers around Loy began to die down. On exiting school, everyone gossiped around about what happened.

"It's probably the first time she's encountered a creature like him..." said Sunny to her group of friends.

"She seems like a good and well taken-care girl... probably from a rich family. I'm sure she's not used to be the center of such horrifying events... such an event could be even more traumatic for someone like her rather than someone who grew up in here and has known him for all his life..." Shira added dejectedly.

Soon, all the students were gone, and Loy was left alone on the floor of the school yard.

He felt his heart getting crushed with each passing moment. Looking at the floor with a hollow look in his eyes, a teardrop hit the floor.

After a few moments, another one.

He stood up in the empty yard with his face looking at the ground and started walking slowly towards his home.

Lin continued to run as far as she could, occasionally almost losing her running rhythm and crashing to the floor due to her numb legs.

Her tears fell to the floor as she saw in every corner around her the dark silhouette with the diamond stone in front of her. After a long sprint that felt like a marathon, she stopped when she had to catch her breath.

With her face scrunched up, she gasped back and forth, afraid she would pass out from her burning lungs.

After recovering her breathing, she found herself in the middle of the city, in a deserted alley she doesn't familiar with.

She tried to reset her mind when every moment the memories jumped in front of her eyes, bringing her back to the same moment. She crouched to her feet.

"Concentrate... concentrate...!" she repeated to herself in her mind. "You're not there anymore... calm down... calm down... please!" She insisted forcefully, when suddenly a very strong feeling hit her like a powerful shock wave.
