Chapter 64:

Chapter 64 Stalker

Content of the Magic Box

Suzuka strolled into the bustling main hall of the guild building, where the quest coordinators were stationed. David trailed behind her, eager to speak with her. As they approached Lisanna, one of the coordinators, Suzuka greeted her cheerfully, "Hello Lisanna! I'm back, the guild leader said that I've passed the examination."

Lisanna beamed with a knowing smile, "That's wonderful news, Helen! To be honest, I knew you would pass. Power users like yourself rarely fail to join the guilds. Hahaha!" she chuckled.

She then added, "However, I do need to ask you to be patient for just a little longer. I still need to complete some paperwork and make your hunter card, as well as your magic box power user badge." Lisanna continued, "But don't worry, it won't take too long. last question, should I be your quest coordinator?"

Suzuka nodded, "Yes, I would like you to be my quest coordinator," grateful for Lisanna's kindness and professionalism.

"Okay then, it's settled. In the meantime, feel free to take a seat and relax while I take care of everything." Lisanna said while pointing her hand at the closest table with refreshments on it.

Suzuka couldn't wait to finally sell her items and find herself an inn to stay the night, have a warm bath, a hot meal, and rest in a soft bed.

David stood quietly behind Suzuka, taking in the sights and sounds of the bustling main hall. The atmosphere was lively and energetic, with adventurers coming and going, preparing for their next missions.

As Suzuka took her seat at the table, David approached Lisanna with a sense of urgency. However, before he could say anything, Lisanna spoke in a condescending tone, "Ugh! I can't believe it. He allowed 'David the nice guy' to pass. Why don't you just find a corner and wait for me to finish your papers? Maybe I will consider finishing today, and I'll choose your coordinator at random. Now, shoo! Shoo!" David was used to taking Lisanna's harsh words, which were spoken with a clear air of annoyance. The insult in her tone was noticeable, and it was clear that she did not hold David in high regard.

David nervously stuttered, "Excuse me, but I was hoping that you could be my quest coordinator." He appeared timid, shifting his weight from foot to foot as he spoke.

Despite his nervous demeanor, there was a persistent glint in his eye, indicating that he was serious about his request. He continued, "I understand that you're one of the most experienced and knowledgeable coordinators in the guild, most kind, gentle, and helpful and I believe that you would be the best choice to help me on my quest." David's words were sincere and filled with respect, and it was clear that he held the quest coordinator in high regard.

Lisanna's gaze settled on David with a look of utter disgust as she spoke through gritted teeth. "Fine," she muttered with hesitation, "But, don't you dare make me regret this decision."

Her words were emphasized by the stern tone of her voice, and the hard set of her jaw, leaving no doubt about the level of her frustration. Despite her reservations, Lisanna agreed to David's request, although it was clear that she was far from pleased about it.

David strode away from the grand reception desk, his footsteps echoing on the gleaming marble floor. He made his way to a table situated in a quiet corner of the room, where Suzuka was seated, her attention focused on a fancy decorated map spread out on the guild wall right next to the quest board.

As he approached, she looked up, a small smile playing at the corners of her lips. David pulled out a chair and asked, "Hi, may I sit here, with you?"

Suzuka just said, "Yeah, sure. I don't own the place. You can sit where you want."

But before David could say another word Lisanna cock blocked him and invited Suzuka for a talk, on purpose just to interrupt David, "Hey, Helen. Can you come here? Let's chat for a minute."

Without hesitation, Suzuka approached the Quest Coordinator, Lisanna, and started the conversation, "What's up Lisanna? Did you finish my papers?"

Lisanna said with a warm smile, "Great news!" she exclaimed. "Your adventurer's card is all set and your hunter's license papers have been successfully registered in our guild. However, your badge will take a bit more time to arrive, but that's okay you can drop by tomorrow for it."

Lisanna leaned in closer, lowering her voice to a whisper. "I have some even better news for you. As a member of the guild, you now have the opportunity to sell your items to me at a higher price than before and I am willing to pay a premium for them."

"That is great news, I will gladly sell them now. I am really glad I was able to get it done by today, I really didn't want to spend the night in the street. Thank you again, Lisanna. You're a lifesaver."

Lisanna waved at Suzuka and said, "Oh please, it is nothing special, I am always happy to help." She took Suzuka's items and handed over the gold, "Since you are our new member and a power user I will round up the reward to 5 gold coins even. I am expecting great things from you, hahaha."

"Wow, five gold coins! That's quite a sum. It should easily cover my expenses for the next several months. Speaking of expenses, Lisanna, do you happen to know of any budget-friendly inns in the area where I can find lodging? I'm looking for a place to crash for the night, but I don't want to break the bank."

Lisanna gave her advice on where to stay for Suzuka. "When it comes to finding an affordable place to stay," she began, "there are several options to choose from. However, I would like to highly recommend The Mystic Oasis Inn. It's not only affordable, but they also offer a range of amenities that are hard to come by in other places. You'll have access to a bar where you can also get delicious food and even a bath to relax in after a long day. The rooms are decent, and the overall cost is very appealing. Also, they are on contract with hunter guild and MIS, so you will get the discount from being MBPU and Adventurer. "

Lisanna emphasized, "I've stayed at The Mystic Oasis Inn myself and I can tell you from experience that it's a great choice. The staff is friendly, the atmosphere is warm and the location is convenient. Trust me, you won't regret choosing to stay there."

Suzuka asked Lisanna with a look of confusion on her face. "Lisanna," she said, "I have never been in this town before so I will have trouble finding the inn. Do you think you could help me out? Maybe even draw me a map?"

Lisanna smiled warmly at Suzuka, clearly happy to help. "Of course, Helen! The inn is located just a short distance from here. I'll be happy to give you directions and even draw you a map if you'd like. I would even gladly walk you to the place myself if not the work, hahaha."

She pulled out a piece of paper and a pen from her pocket and began sketching out the map. "Okay, so you'll want to head straight down this main road and then take a left at the fork," she explained as she drew. "You'll see the inn just a few blocks down on the right-hand side. It's hard to miss, it has a large sign that says 'The Mystic Oasis Inn' hanging over the entrance."

Lisanna handed the map to Suzuka and pointed to the various landmarks she had drawn. "Here's the main road, the fork, and the inn. If you get lost, just refer to this map and you should be able to find your way with ease."

Suzuka looked at the map and then back up at Lisanna, a grateful smile spreading across her face. "Thank you so much, Lisanna. You're a lifesaver. I really appreciate your help."

Lisanna chuckled. "No problem, Helen. That's what friends are for. I hope you have a great time at the inn!"

Suzuka wanted to leave as fast as possible, she is tired.

Suzuka said, "I really don't want to take up too much of your time, it seems like you have a lot going on."

Lisanna replied warmly, "Not at all, practically got nothing to do now. I'm happy to chat with you. I got nothing serious to do"

Suzuka asked, "What about that work you needed to do for David? I wouldn't want to keep you from it."

Lisanna smiled, "As I said, I got nothing serious to do. It's not a problem, I can finish it later. Spending time with you is much more important right now."

Suzuka spoke with a warm and grateful tone, "Thank you so much for understanding, but I am just so exhausted right now. It's been a really long day with so much happening. I just got back from the forest, we had a run-in with some bandits. And on top of that, the whole guild trial thing was just draining. I don't want you to think that I am brushing you off, I just really need some rest."

"Oh, Helen, what a day! It's fine, I didn't want to be so sticky, sorry for keeping you up, you should get your well-earned rest. But be sure to come back tomorrow, I will be here keeping your badge close." Lisanna said with a warm smile.

Suzuka nodded, took her adventurer's card, and said goodbye as she walked away, "Bye, see you tomorrow."

David rushed to Lisanna the moment Suzuka said goodbye and stood in front of her, "Excuse me, Mis Lisanna. I would like to know when my papers will be done, please"

Lisanna made an annoyed facial expression, turn her head to the side, and spit, "Phew, when I feel like it, until then, sit in the corner and wait or better come back tomorrow."

David lowered his head and said, "Thank you, I will come back tomorrow then."

He quickly made his way out of the building, walking with a sense of urgency. His steps were quick as if he had somewhere important to be. The speed of his departure suggested that he was in a hurry and that whatever he was about to embark on could not wait.

Suzuka leisurely strolled down the main street, taking in the sights and sounds of her new surroundings. She was on her way to the inn, following the directions given to her by her friend Lisanna. The buildings that surrounded her were unlike those she had seen before, with a rich variety of architectural styles and designs.

As Suzuka walked down the street, she was enveloped by a sense of awe and marvel. Despite her best efforts, she couldn't shake the feeling that she was being followed. Turning her head slightly, she caught a glimpse of David a few buildings behind her. Despite his efforts to blend in with his surroundings, Suzuka's keen senses allowed her to pick up on his presence.

His gaze was intense, almost like a physical force that was drilling into her. His eyes were fixed on her, piercing through the air like a spear. Suzuka could feel the weight of his stare like he was trying to communicate something to her without saying a word. The moment was brief, but it left a lasting impression on Suzuka, who couldn't shake the feeling that she was being watched even after David was out of sight.

Suzuka walked down the busy street, her mind solely focused on finding the inn her friend Lisanna had recommended to her. However, she was acutely aware of a presence following closely behind her. Despite her best efforts to ignore him, the unwanted attention from David was becoming increasingly difficult to tolerate.

David was stalking her, trying to blend in and appear casual, but the intensity of his gaze was palpable. He kept sneaking behind her, checking her out with a mixture of curiosity and desire, he was checking her out with great intensity. Suzuka could sense his gaze upon her and it made her feel uneasy. The more she tried to ignore him, the more persistent he became.

She had reached her breaking point and knew it was time for a confrontation. With a determined step, she turned the corner into the nearest alley and leaned against the wall, waiting for him to walk after her.
