Arcane Academy

"Well Master, it's your first day. You have to look presentable."

The cold feel of the steel which Loreley was made of could be felt as he held her in his right hand. She spoke to him with telepathy.

"It's not like I have any other things to wear!"

He was stuck using the usual adventurers garb, though in the letter it was notified there wasn't any uniforms in the academy. Which meant it was fine to wear whatever you deemed fit. He grabbed everything else that was needed and began heading out. The academy was on the left most area of the town and it was huge, being able to see it from outside his home. Or from anywhere in the city in fact.

Even if he could see it on the way there he still had to ask for directions, since there was a large amount of streets that it would be easy to get lost. He was nearly there, taking notice of the entrance to the Academy. It's huge black gates open as he could see students already going in.

"Goodness gracious me, you should really watch who you're messing with. It would be of your best interest to leave at once."

He could hear commotion as he took notice of a young looking girl being surrounded by thugs. It was near the entrance, it sounded like they were ganging up on her.

"All you had to do was apologize. You bumped into us and didn't even take the care to say sorry, not even look back and continued!"

The thug which looked like the leader of the group was yelling at her.

'I have to help her!' Kouki thought as he rushed to the scene.

"This is why you humans are the filth of this world, you're standing in the presence of-"

Before she could finish Kouki dashed in front putting both hands in the air in a 'calm down' pose.

"Hey hey, why don't you guys go on your way and leave the poor girl alone."

Kouki stood in front of her as he faced the thugs.

"Just who are you calling a poor defenseless girl?"

The girl said in disbelief not wanting to acknowledge what she just heard.

"Why don't you mind your own damn business, boy. Scram before you get a beating."

(Loreley try not to kill them, I don't want to end up causing a scene.)

(Sigh, oh well. Fine.) They were talking to each other telepathically so no one else could hear.

Holding Loreley with a firmer grip he took stance and swung at them. It was too quick for them to react which ended up hitting all of them at once. The force was strong enough to knock them out but not strong enough to actually injure them badly.

"Are you okay?" He asked as he turned to face the young lady.

She had a disproving look and looked annoyed to the bone. Arms crossed. She had a light blue cloak, bright golden hair and beautiful blue eyes. She had a long large pope hat that resembled the summoning mages that summoned Kouki.

"For your information I am not a child, and I certainly did not need help."

"You're...not a kid?"

Her eyes grew wide in shock.

"NO! I am most certainly not. Hmph, it's not like I need to give introductions to a human such as you. Especially not a Forgotten."

He was caught off guard as to how she knew he was a forgotten. Without any further quarrel she walked away from the area and to Kouki's surprise she was heading towards the Academy. The big gates were open so the students could easily walk in. It was a new year for the school so everyone was heading for the same place, Kouki didn't know where exactly he had to go inside he followed the majority.

As he walked he somehow still felt stares and gossip about him which made him wary.

(Does everyone know about me now?)

(Master, in assumption I believe that you're the first Forgotten that has actually taken the Academy head on like this. With that alone it would be shocking for the rest of the students.)

Kouki actually took her word for it as it was the most plausible cause to this. The area inside the Academy was vast and in front you could see the large concrete buildings which almost looked like skyscrapers by how big they were. Everyone was heading inside and soon after reaching the large ceremony hall. People were in groups as at the far front there was a deck for the people who were going to speak. A tall red haired woman came up to the stand, her outfit looked like a witch's.

There was no microphone which only made it seem like she was going to use a sound based magic to make it loud and clear for what she was going to say.

"Ahem. WELCOME young ladies and gentlemen! I am Evara Sarlen, the headmistress of this beloved Academy of ours known as Arcane Academy."

(Evara, huh.)

(Master, don't ever go near her while you are attending the academy. I'm warning you now.)

Loreley seemed to have a cold tone when she advised Kouki. To him it didn't make any sense and wanted to know why.

(W-what?)

Before he could continue he got interrupted by another broadcast.

"Arcane Academy has been striving for thousands of years now, almost as early as when our three beloved Goddesses fell from grace."

(...)

(Loreley...?)

Somehow he could feel something was wrong with her.

"We have a new year for new students arriving at our Academy and we are all pleased to have you here. From up here I can see a wide variety of wonderful students. We all have high expectations from you!"

For a moment Kouki felt like Evara looked at him directly which caught him off guard.

The students roared at how exciting this was. It was going to be their first year in a magnificent and renowned Academy.

"I cannot begin to contain my excitement for this school year! There is lots of things that are to be learnt here and I am sure all of you will make the best of it."

All around and above the balconies there could be teachers and other senior students that were watching the new comers. It's as if they were sizing up the lot.

(This is too much for me to handle. I cannot believe I get to experience something as wonderful as this Loreley. Somehow I am beginning to enjoy this world.)

(You have much yet to see master.)

"You all will be great future individuals that will make your own nation proud. Strive to be the best, you won't be alone as me along with the rest of the staff will make that possible for you! Before the end of this introductory ceremony I will be presenting to you your Academy's student council. These individual's have great redeeming qualities and are from nobile families from their homeland race."

(So they even have a student council here, that's a surprise.)

From both sides of the deck students walked up and formed a line as they faced the newcomers. It looked like a total of twelve.

(W-what! She was in the student council?!)

Kouki took notice of the girl from earlier that she helped from the thugs.

"Up first we have our twins from the Elven race! Nafen Dorfiel and Falwen Dorfiel."

(Nafen being the brother and Falwen being the sister. It's a first seeing an Elf in real life. It looked pleasing to the eyes as they wore matching white and green outfits. Their green hair really went along with it.)

"Our Dark Elf here is named Nytha Zinleth"

(Her tan skin and white hair really did go well together. She has an eye patch on her right eye though, I wonder what that's about. Also, what's up with the weird names!)

(The names usually try to respect their ancestors, Master.)

"Our beloved Ex-Machina, Aura!"

(Ex-Machina...there is no doubt they're the smartest. From here she looked so still, truly like a machine. Her light blue hair and green eyes were the features you would clearly notice the most.)

(Haha of course Master!)

"The princess herself from the Dragonkin race, Opehlia!"

(Wow! she looks outstanding. Her long silky white hair and gray eyes were unlike none other. Her horns seem pretty sick I like that, and her tail too. This is so awesome.)

(The Dragonkin race is pretty rare to see nowadays Master.)

It finally reached to the one Kouki was most interested in, the young looking girl from earlier.

(Just who is she...) he could only wonder.

"The Goddesses own gift, Adiel, the strongest Angel there is!"

(An Angel?!)

(Adiel...)

(You know her Loreley?)

(Er no master I was only caught up in her appearance is all.)

(Hmm.)

"The toughest Dwarf there is, Balock!"

(Wow he's short.)

"Our reptilian swordmaster from the Lizardman race, Matax!"

(A lizardman huh? He's huge, he even has swords carried on his back.)

(Even as young adults the Lizardman are already pretty developed Master.)

"The beautiful Princess of the Beastmen, Miyuki!"

(Miyuki? That's Japanese...thats strange. She looks really gorgeous though. Her snowy white and blue coloring gives meaning to her name.)

(Ja...panese? What is that Master?)

(Oh it's one of the races from my home world is all.)

He guessed even she didn't know that.

"The Sirens come along with Adrannese!"

(I expected them to look like mermaids but I guess they have an ability to walk on land?)

(Yes master that is indeed so. Though, they can't really go for much time without water.)

(I see.)

"For the Demons we present to you Tannon!"

(I can already tell Adiel and Tannon are not going to get along in the same group.)

(That will be troublesome.)

"For the Giants we have Umir!"

(Uh...Giants? If she's a Giant why...is she small!)

(Master, in the past they really were giants but for a mysterious genetic mutation they grew smaller but still their immense strength remained.)

"Ah forgive me everyone I seem to have made a mistake to not notify our last member to come up! Our final student council member representing the humans is none other than, Kouki Tachi! Kouki if you can hear me please make your way towards us!"

(WHAT?!)

(Oh no. Quite the embarrassment, Master. Just be careful.)

Kouki had no real choice, feeling his burning red face. But as he began walking towards the deck where Evara and the rest of the student council was he got bombarded with stares that it filled him with nausea. Even as he got up the stands there was commotion and even the rest of the student council were baffled.

"Kouki Tachi is special, I am sure all of you are aware that he is a Forgotten, but nonetheless he is and will be a great addition to the council. These thirteen individuals will regulate the school and help with problems that arise, so be sure to respect them and let them know if you need help with anything. Without further a do this ceremony is concluded! I wish you all a magnificent school year!"

With a poof she disappeared with Magic.

Even now the stares didn't stop.

(What did I get myself into...)

This was the beginning of something extraordinary.
