Chapter 12:

Chapter 12 Relief

Kobito no Otoko - Dwarf Man

The night had fallen and Koji had survived another adventurous day. He waited eagerly for Ayumi to arrive, watching the minutes tick by with impatience. Finally, close to midnight, she appeared. There was a hint of relief in her expression, a small improvement from her usual demeanor.

Ayumi approached the vending machine and gave a gentle knock on the glass. "Good evening, little fairy. Are you home?"

Koji emerged from his hiding spot with practiced poise. "Good evening, my lady," he greeted with a confidence that belied the nervousness he had felt on the day he first met Ayumi. Through dedicated effort, Koji had made a grave effort to perfect his speech, and he was determined not to falter in his words again.

Ayumi expressed her gratitude to Koji for the letter he had given her, explaining that it had helped her in ways she couldn't even begin to describe. She went on to recount the events of the previous night, explaining how she had arrived home late and found her boyfriend in a rage, ready to hurt her again. She had been terrified, but she remembered the letter that Koji had given her and decided to try something different this time.

She took a deep breath and handed the letter to her boyfriend, who hesitantly took it from her. He opened it slowly, and as he read it, Ayumi could see tears starting to well up in his eyes. He read the letter several times over, and with each reading, his demeanor began to change. After a few moments, he turned to her and apologized for everything he had done to her, saying that he finally understood.

Ayumi couldn't believe what was happening - her boyfriend had never shown any remorse for his actions before, and now he was not only apologizing but also leaving without any further conflict. She was relieved and grateful, and she knew that none of it would have been possible without Koji's help. She thanked him again, tears of joy in her eyes, and promised to always be his friend. (Ga dam! Ma friend got friend-zoned!)

Ayumi looked at Koji with a curious expression on her face. "Koji, what was written in that letter?" she asked. "He dropped it on the ground before leaving, and I picked it up, but it was empty. There was nothing written in there."

Koji's only response was, "As I said, it was for his eyes to see only."
