Chapter 12:

New Courage Regained

Hearth Heart

Hiro sat alone in the small hotel room, staring out the window at the bustling city below. It had been months since the war had ended, and life had returned to some semblance of normalcy. But for Hiro, it was a difficult time. The loss of the witch who had become his mentor and guide was a blow that he was struggling to come to terms with.

As he sat there, lost in thought, there was a knock at the door. Hiro hesitated for a moment before getting up to answer it. He opened the door to find a young woman standing there, dressed in a simple blue robe.

"Hello, Hiro," she said, her voice calm and measured. "My name is Aya. I was sent by the witch council to find you."

Hiro was taken aback. He hadn't heard from the council since the end of the war. "Why?" he asked.

"Your abilities are needed once again," Aya explained. "There is a new threat to the magical world, and we need your help to stop it."

Hiro felt a sense of purpose that he hadn't felt since the war had ended. He knew he couldn't turn his back on the magical world, even though the loss of his mentor had left a deep wound.

"I'll help," he said simply.

Aya nodded. "Good. We leave next week."

As she left, Hiro felt a sense of anticipation building inside him. He knew that whatever lay ahead, he was ready to face it. He had come a long way since that fateful day when he stumbled upon the cursed cottage. And now, with a new challenge ahead of him, he was ready to begin a new chapter in his life.

He spent the rest of his week mourning the death of the witch. She had been a mentor, a friend, and a guide through his journey to break the curse of the cottage. He felt lost without her, but he knew he had to move on.

He checked into a hotel and spent his days exploring the city. He tried to immerse himself in the new surroundings, but he couldn't help but feel a sense of emptiness. He missed the witch and the adventure they had shared.

One day, while wandering through the city, he stumbled upon a bookstore. He went inside and perused the shelves, feeling a sense of comfort in the familiar smell of books. As he was browsing, he noticed a book on witchcraft that caught his eye. He picked it up and began to read.

The more he read, the more he realized how much he had learned from the witch. He had gained a deep understanding of magic and how it could be used for good. He felt a surge of determination to continue his journey, to keep learning and growing.

As he left the bookstore, he noticed a group of children playing in a nearby park. He watched them for a while, marvelling at their carefree nature. Suddenly, he had an idea. He could use his knowledge of magic to help others, just like the witch had helped him.

He spent the next few weeks honing his skills and experimenting with different spells. He used his magic to help people in need, whether it was healing the sick or providing food for the hungry. He felt a sense of purpose that he had never felt before.

One day, as he was walking through the park, he noticed a woman sitting on a bench, crying. He approached her and asked what was wrong. She told him that she had lost her expensive ring and couldn't find it anywhere. Hiro knew he could help. He closed his eyes and focused, feeling the magic flow through him. He chanted a few words and opened his eyes. There, on the ground in front of them, was the woman's ring.

The woman was overjoyed and thanked Hiro profusely. He smiled, feeling a sense of fulfilment that he had never experienced before. He knew that he had found his true calling.

As he walked away, he felt the presence of the witch beside him. He knew that she was still with him, guiding him on his journey. He looked up at the sky, feeling a sense of peace wash over him. He knew that no matter where life took him, he would always have the memories of his adventure with the witch and the lessons she had taught him.
