Chapter 9:

Mission “Buy him a drink.”

Hang in There Mister Guard!

Later that day, while making his rounds again, Ryoichi went by a vending machine being resupplied, the guy doing this was actually Ryoichi’s friend, so when he noticed him he greeted him.

“Yo Ryoichi! How’s it going.”

“Same as always Take, how ‘bout you?”

“Same as always too. Want something to drink? It's on me.”

“You too?”

“Eh, what happened?”

“I don’t know, one of the other guards just kept on asking to buy me something to drink earlier, I don’t know why.”

“That certainly is weird, but hey, never say no to a free drink.”

“I did, three times.”

He laughed and then continued:

“Yeah, that’s just like you, oh I know.”

He grabbed one of the drinks he was refilling the machine with and gave it to him.

“Why don’t you taste this soda? It is new and our boss wants to promote it, and what better advertisement than a free sample?”

“I’ll try it but let me pay for it.”

“Nah, it’s ok, let’s just play Elite Busters this weekend, I’m sure you’ll like it.”

“Ok, see you then.”

And he continued his way, however, one of the other guards saw the drink in his hand and told the other ones about it.

When his lunch time arrived he took out his bento box and drank the soda his friend gave him.

“This isn’t bad, but it’s not so good either.” He thought.

Finishing his lunch he returned to work and the day went like all the other days, however, once he gave the keys to the night guards he went to the security room to check out and go home, just to find on the table 15 of the sodas he got for lunch and a note from everybody thanking him for not allowing the position changes to go on.

“I should have done those changes myself.” Thought after covering his face with his palm.
