A Man to Man Talk.

“If you hated this job so much, why did you come back?” Asked Ryoichi.

“Because…”

“Because it’s your family’s business, because you are worried about your parents, because this place means something else to you than just a restaurant.”

Hideo looked at him wondering how he knew about it, it was like he could read right through him.

“You are a kind kid, that’s why I told you that a waiter quitting after just a day was a bad image for a restaurant. Because after telling you how your parents told me to look after him you looked angry that your parents would have to give me something in exchange for doing it, but there is something that I conveniently didn’t tell you. Your parents don’t owe me any favor, I owned them for a long time ago.

“Back when I was 16 I needed a part-time job, but I couldn’t get into anyone that I applied for. It wasn’t until I met your dad, he hired me despite the fact that I didn’t have any experience of any kind and the fact that his restaurant is well known and has a great reputation. But he ignored all that just to give me a job, that is the favor your father did to him, and thanks to that I learned a lot there. I learned that people are good, people are bad, people are so different between each other that it is simply wrong to assume how any person that you meet is going to be.

“It’s not easy, kid, but you will learn at some point that you have no reason to trust anybody you meet, you will meet them, and then only time will tell. So, if you are sad because there are people who want the worst for you, then be sad, but don’t let that forget the fact that there are people who want the best for you too, and if you haven’t met them then feel happy that one day you will.

“Just one more thing, don’t search for revenge, you are against evil people, and there is no way a good kid like you can win in their game.”

And having said that he left, leaving Hideo once again with lots of things to think about.
