A New Man.

After that talk with Ryoichi, Hideo changed the way he did his job, on his first day he basically did everything that anybody told him, he served any table despite the table layout that the waiters follow, that and obviously the lack of experience ruined his first day, but on the second one he came as a different man. He still committed some mistakes along the day, but not as many as the previous one.

As the days went by he met some of the staff that were good people, they treated him really well and some told him to rely on them if anything happened, they were the host of the restaurant and the chef and cooking staff. In the course of his second week he found out through them that what Ryoichi told him was true, his arrival as a waiter made him a public enemy, and some of the other waiters really set him up to make him feel uncomfortable. Finding out about this made him feel insecure once again, why would these people do that to him if they didn’t even know each other.

Lost on this train of thoughts he went to eat his lunch in the fire staircase once again, there Ryoichi found him again. After he saw Hideo sitting alone with his lunch there he figured out that something was wrong with him again, so he approached him.

“I’m going to overlook that you are here again despite the fact that I told you that you are not supposed to be here just once. Tell me what is worrying you so much.”

He took a time, but he finally answered.

“Why would people want to make me feel awful, what have I done to them, I don’t even know them.”

“Because that is how people are.”

“But why?”

“Why are there people who rescue their own lives to try to save others, like firefighters?”

“I don’t know…” Said Hideo with a confused look.

“Because that is how people are.”

Then, Ryoichi hustled Hideo’s head a little.

“I’m going to give you a little spoiler about why having this job is going to be an amazing experience for you, kid. Because you are going to meet both kinds of people.”
