Chapter 22:

Searching for Mama.

Hang in There Mister Guard!

While they were looking for her mom, Ryoichi asked a lot of different questions to the little girl.

“You and your mother come here often my lady?”

“Yes.”

“Do you like to be here?”

“Yes.”

“What do you like to do when you come here?”

“Look at the candy stores.”

“I see, when I was around your age I also loved to look at the candy stores to see if they had anything new, by the way, how old are you, my lady?”

“Seven.”

“Seven already, wow, you sure are a big girl now, do you have any brothers or sisters?”

“Yes, a little sister.”

“Wonderful, you like her?”

“I love her! She is so cute and tiny.”

“I’m sure she loves you as much as you love her.”

And the little girl looked at him and smiled. Little by little she stopped being sad and even to enjoy the company of the guard, he was walking her towards the front desk so they could announce her location to her mother when suddenly he saw someone who matched the description the little girl gave him. The woman seemed worried, looking for something, or someone.

“Hey, is that woman over there your mother?” He asked her.

“She is! Mama!” She shouted, and then let go of the guards hand to go hug her mother.

“Mama!” Said the girl happily.

“Ah, thank goodness you are ok, I was so worried.”

“The guard told me you got lost and he asked me to help him find you. We found her mister guard!”

“Yes we did, my lady, now be sure to keep an eye on your mother, she surely is difficult to find.”

The girl smiled to indicate she agreed with what Ryoichi said.

“Thank you so much for helping my daughter.” Said the mother.

“Don’t need to thank me madam, I’m just doing my job.” And then he took off his hat once again and bowed. “My lady, thank you so much for helping me find your mother, I hope you too have a great day.”

“Thank you, mister guard.”

And then mother and daughter returned to do their shopping and Ryoichi to make his rounds.

“Kids are nice, I wonder if one day I can have one of my own.” He thought later that day.
