Revival of the Wrong Soul

Both Xadulo and Carnelia disappeared.

A week ago, Xadulo’s body was left, but Carnelia’s just dissolve in the air right after Xadulo lost breath. That morning, they just found Carnelia watching over a dying Xadulo under her tent. She was also preparing to take Xadulo’s eyes. After she pulled both off, they started dying, not leaving a single word.

“It’s a marble…” Jack muttered, staring at the stone made from Xadulo’s eyes as he held it high. The remaining people almost got disbanded countless times. They tried to preserve Xadulo’s body in believing she will be back. They got into lots of fight because of it. “It’s as big as a marble, too… yeah. It’s probably a marble,” Jack was still down from what happened, but he had tried his best not to cry.

“Still, this is really beautiful. Half is made of diamond, and the other half is made of emerald,” it made Jack smile. “It’s the same as those heterochromatic eyes of yours…” ‘With this special potion, we can make not only gravel, but also different types of rocks, depending on the petrified object. Well, I’m guessing most objects will only end as gravel, anyways, but I only have one thing in mind I want to petrify’. “…you’re right. Most objects turned gravel, so I was worried the potion failed, but… you’re always right, aren’t you?”

Pablo was stressed. He kept watching over Xadulo’s body for days but there wasn’t any change. Thanks to the potion Jack gave, Xadulo’s body going stiff can be delayed for days, but they can’t overuse the drug onto the corpse or it will rot faster. “Will you really be back…? If it’s up to us, then how…”

Night, Jack came inside the room in a cave where Xadulo’s corpse was, guided by Pablo. He handed a bottle of potion of anti-sleepiness. He hasn’t slept a week ever since the two disappeared. “Hey, you should rest. There’s no good in staying awake forever,” Jack said to him. “Nah. I’ll keep on guard”, “Maybe she’s not waking up because you’ve been there, like a creep watching over sleeping beauty.” Jack joked.

He was able to convince Pablo to get some air. He looked up at the sky and saw lots of stars. He remembered the day he randomly looked up, then suddenly, he was closer to Carnelia. “When are ya coming back?” Jack came out of the room, running. He shouted for Pablo, and he immediately came. There, he saw Xadulo awakened. But it wasn’t Xadulo. The eyes regenerated, and showed carnelian eyes. Like a lifeless person, Carnelia looked around and got hold of the situation.

She suddenly stood up. Her body was different. Her hair was longer, her clothes were changed into long white dress, and for the first time, she felt what it’s like to have a beating heart. “Carnelia!?” Pablo shouted after she fell on the ground, holding onto her chest. For her, it hurts to have a beating heart, working veins, warm skin, everything that the living body has were hurtful for her. She felt her lungs were being squished just by breathing. She felt she was on fire just by sweating. She felt heavy just by having that body came back to life.

“This is…? Is this Xadulo’s…” Carnelia couldn’t gather the right words. Pablo supported her. “Am I… resurrected?” she looked at her hands, as if trying to realize something. “In Xadulo’s body…? …then, how is she gonna come back?!” she started panicking. “Jackie, go get the others!” Pablo instructed Jack, and he moved quickly after the call. Pablo tried to comfort Carnelia to calm her down. ‘Her emotions will unlock’. After Jack brought Seril, Deneb, and Kyshanne with him, everyone was stunned.

“You’re Carnelia…?” Deneb wanted to confirm again. “Yes…” she responded, grasping for air. “…what now…? Why am I the… one who’s back… when—”, Carnelia was very weakened and Pablo supported her every time she loses balance. Carnelia couldn’t understand. She felt cold. Her vision blurred. Her head hurt. Feeling warmth inside her body made her want to puke. Her ears rang, her throat dried, her eyes bled. It’s as if she was breathing thin, sharp ice. She passed out silently on Pablo’s shoulder. “What the hell even is happening?”

They let her rest for a while and talk again when she’s ready. Pablo lit the remaining candles as light before he went outside. “…sweet dreams.”

After she recovered, they decided to start a plan on reviving Xadulo.
