Chapter 11:

Navigating Stares and Whispers

Fangs and Facades

Yuna arrived at school feeling nervous yet excited about showing off her new look. As she walked towards her locker, she could feel the stares of her classmates on her. She could tell that they were all surprised by her sudden transformation.

When she reached her locker, she found Saori waiting for her. Saori's eyes widened as she took in Yuna's new look. "Wow, Yuna! You look amazing!" she exclaimed.

Yuna smiled, feeling a sense of relief wash over her. "Thanks! It was all Mika's doing," she said, gesturing to her sister.

Saori looked at Yuna's sister with a raised eyebrow. "She did a great job," she said, turning back to Yuna.

Yuna blushed, feeling a sense of pride at Saori's compliment. "Thanks, I feel like a whole new person," she said.

Saori grinned, looking at Yuna from head to toe. "You definitely look like a goth queen," she said.

Yuna giggled, feeling a sense of excitement building inside her. She was thrilled that Saori liked her new look.

As they walked to class together, Yuna explained to Saori why she had left so abruptly the night before. "Mika was blowing up my phone, she was worried about me. I didn't want her to come looking for me, so I had to leave," she said, with a slight hint of frustration in her voice.

Mika couldn't resist teasing her younger sister. "Aww, did poor Yuna have to leave her slumber party early because sissy was calling her back home?" she said with a giggle.

Yuna rolled her eyes but couldn't help but smile at her sister's antics. "Shut up, Mika. You know I wanted to stay," she said playfully.

Saori joined in on the teasing, "It's okay, Yuna. We'll just have to plan another sleepover soon, but this time make sure to sneak out when your sister is asleep," she said with a wink.

Yuna blushed at the thought of another sleepover with Saori, but she couldn't help but feel excited at the prospect. "Definitely, I can't wait," she replied, grinning from ear to ear.

Mika chuckled to herself, happy to see her sister so happy. "Well, don't forget to brush your teeth and comb your hair before you leave for class. We don't want you scaring off any potential suitors with your bedhead," she said with a grin.

Yuna playfully stuck her tongue out at her sister before turning to Saori. "I'll catch you later, Saori. Text me later?" she said, feeling a sense of excitement build inside her.

Saori nodded, a smile on her lips. "Of course, I'll text you later," she said, watching Yuna walk away with a newfound admiration for her gothic style.

As Yuna and Mika walked into the classroom, the teacher stopped mid-sentence and stared at Yuna with a disapproving look. "Yuna, I don't recall that outfit being part of the school uniform," the teacher said sternly.

Mika couldn't help but giggle at the teacher's comment. "Oh come on, sensei. Yuna is just expressing her unique style. Isn't that what we're encouraged to do in art class?"

The teacher paused for a moment, seemingly considering Mika's response. "Well, yes, I suppose you have a point. But let's not make a habit of it."

Yuna felt a sense of relief wash over her at Mika's defense. She knew her outfit wasn't strictly in line with the dress code, but she couldn't resist expressing herself through fashion.

As Yuna settled into her seat, she couldn't help but notice the stares and whispers coming from her classmates. She tried to ignore them, reminding herself that she was confident in her new look and didn't need their approval.

Mika leaned over and whispered to Yuna, "Don't mind them. They're just jealous they don't have the guts to express themselves like you do."

Yuna smiled gratefully at her sister's words. She was glad to have Mika by her side, always willing to stand up for her and support her choices.
