Chapter 15:

False gate II

Hacker Class

"I am not coming along," A voice said. It was the girl from before. She stayed close to 3 other boys who had similar appearances to her. They seemed to be her brothers. Alden had met 2 of them before but the 3rd one, a short and lean boy, he had not met.

Light McKing regarded her slowly, his cold, calculated gaze carefully observing her like she was some sort of rare specimen. He slowly floated over to her, before stopping less than an inch away. He looked down on her, and he gave off an air of extreme superiority. He was like a proud lion strutting through the Savana; He was the king, and he knew it.

"So, You're Lily. Lily Park. The C-ranked dual class. A healer and a Tamer? You are pretty special," McKing paused, his piercing gaze staring deeper and deeper into the soul of the girl. He seemed to be searching for something...was it fear? no, the fear was there, and it was very evident.

He was searching for submission. He was waiting for her to give in to the fear and submit to him, he was waiting for her to submit to his power. But her fearful gaze did not drop, and she stared back into his eyes defiantly, she was afraid, but she was also defiant. It was clear, she was not ready to back down.

McKing continued speaking, his sharp gaze never leaving Lily's tremulous one. "You are quite special, but only amongst other ants. But before me, you are nothing, you are not average or weak, No. You are nothing. I know you treasure your inferior brothers very much so I will spare you, so you can all die happily together," Light McKing spoke.

It seemed like everyone had held their breath and stopped their heartbeat just for him, for Alden was sure if he could drop a pin, no, he was sure if he dropped a piece of cotton, he would hear it.

McKing turned his gaze to the people who were following him to slay the boss.

"Hey, Lily, heal that guy," One of Lily's brothers called out to her, he was the shortest, and he seemed to be the quietest and most mature brother.

"Oh!" Lily exclaimed before rushing over to Alden. She had Alden remove the cloak and the light armor that Alden's father had gotten him before Alden had his upper body bare. Alden had a body that seemed like it belong to someone starved and weak. His skinny body displayed his ribs and his arms were as thin as a twig. Although Alden had begun training and eating better, results would not show in just a week.

Lily gasped when her eyes landed on the terrible state of his body, slowly and carefully, she raised her hands and kept them close to Alden's stomach before she began to heal him. A bright blue glow appeared on her hands and it spread to Alden. Alden could feel a cold, icy feeling at the places which were being healed. Alden was carefully observing the scene before him, he noticed the girl's hands were shaking. He wondered if she was still afraid after her confrontation with Light McKing.

After a few seconds, Lily's eyes widened and she retracted her hand, she was shocked. Alden knew why, so he spoke in a tone that nobody else but he and Lily could hear, "Be quiet about what just happened, If you mention a word of this to anyone then I promise you, I will kill the both of you"

Lily quietly nodded.

Alden then forced out a smile and said, "And thank you for healing me."

Again the reply was a quiet nod.

Alden had acquired 15 points from completing the system mission. He had acquired 15 points and he distributed them to all his stats besides strength and energy. His Agility had become 20, his durability was 18 and his stamina was at 17. This meant that Alden had received less damage from Light's punch than he would have received if he had no system. Without the enhancements from the system, Alden would have had internal bleeding and would have cracked all his ribs and he would have been severely injured. But because he was stronger, he just broke a few ribs and didn't get hurt that much other then that. Of course, if Light had punched him more seriously, he wouldn't have gotten away with such light injuries.

Alden realized that Lily now regarded him with a gaze that was full of curiosity, suspicion, and surprise.

"Come on! follow me deeper into the cave!" Light McKing shouted to those with him. There were 13 people, including Light, Lily and the leader who was above C-grade. 11 had gone to kill the Boss as the leader had decided not to join the team going to fight the Boss. He decided to stay back and assist the weak rangers.

"Go on well." the leader said to Light McKing who ignored him and strutted deeper into the pathway leading to the Dungeon Boss.

A few minutes later, the sounds of digging were heard within the cave.

"Come on now," The leader said, turning to his group. "Let us get going."

Everyone present nodded and followed their leader deep into the dungeon.

The real war was about to begin, and Alden was ready.
