Chapter 3:

I Explain To My Sister

Horror House!

The events of the previous morning still lingered in my mind, and I still jostled from thinking about it.

I decided to talk to Chihiro about what had occurred. I knew it wouldn't be effortless, but I had to push; it could be perilous or treacherous if Chihiro had disarrayed with the ghouls.

When Chihiro joined the room, chewing on a cereal bar and carrying her tattered homework book, I took a deep puff and began to speak. "Chihiro, I ought to speak to you about yesterday. I don't know how to explain it, but I think something mystical transpired."

Chihiro lifted an eyebrow and glanced at me disdainfully. "What are you speaking about?" she asked, with increasing doubt; her eyes gleamed; I peeked at the window and inhaled again.

"I mean, I think there were spirits or ghosts in our room last night," I responded, shifting my fingers.

Chihiro blasted out, giggling. "You can't be serious! You really believe in that stuff?"

I felt a spasm of frustration and fury waking in me. "I'm not making a story," I said firmly. "I know what I felt and witnessed. And I know that you were involved in it somehow."

Chihiro's expression shifted from delight to vexation. "You're being stupid," she stated, her voice stern. "I didn't do anything last night. And there's no such thing as ghosts."

I took a deep breath and tried to remain serene, but my wrath was like a boiling kettle about to erupt with heat and steam. "Chihiro, please hear to me. I'm not attempting to intimidate you or anything. I just want you to comprehend that what we encountered last night was true. And if it happens again, we need to be equipped."

Chihiro rolled her eyes and shook her head. "Whatever. I don't have time for this nonsense."

She slumped onto the computer chair, typing continually; I seated in bed, feeling queasy, irate and dreary; I was desponded to do anything.

Time ticked and ticked, and Chihiro smashed her computer shut.

"Get up, lazy. Stop pondering about them ghosts. You're just living in your story world!" Chihiro roared at me, but it was as if sound couldn't surpass my brain, everything was muffled, and I was just gazing into space, hushed and moderately subdued, but my body felt like a puppet in an uncomfortable suit.

Was a wraith restraining me?

"Listen to the melody from my voice. You are, but my creature, nothing here is true, just a dream, a concept. You cannot disregard it, nor transcend it, or even feel it. Grave consequences for those who try to defy me."

No, everything is real.

Maybe I was going insane...

"No, you are not...stay strong, Megumi...always stay strong in your beliefs."
