Objection!!!

"Objection!" 

Satoshi Matsuda interrupted the defendant's speech. Although his forehead was glistening with sweat and he himself was seemingly nervous, his voice was firm. Everyone's attention turned to him as he spoke. The situation was rather tense. The president of the student council, Katsuo Nishimoto, Vice President Jun Akiyama, and secretary Mariko Miyagawa were all looking at him with great interest in what he had in store for them regarding the case. However, it wasn't their synchronized stares that were bothering him. It was the intimidating calmness of the defendant girl standing next to him. Her sea-blue eyes were so fixated on him that if he had moved, her gaze would have followed him with the same speed. Her blonde wavy hair was as soft as silk and had braided locks. She was around 165 centimeters tall, a lot smaller than Satoshi. The girl was his classmate, Kaede Yoshihara. They were both freshmen at Hosuzu High. They'd never talked to each other before, so this was their first impression of one another. 

But something was off about Kaede. Although it was spring, she still wore her winter uniform for some reason. Satoshi couldn't remember it clearly, but as if she was wearing different clothing about fifty minutes before when the certain case that they are here now because of, happened. In fact, this oddity was the reason for his objection.

And after a long and awkward moment of silence, Satoshi spoke up: 

"Her uniform!" he said hitting on the table with his left hand, pointing right at Kaede Yoshihara with his right. "It's different! I'm pretty sure she was wearing her summer uniform when the accident happened. But when she knocked down the flower pot, it got dirty so she changed it!"

"Huh?" Kaede said confusedly with her eyes widened. "Excuse me? I already came to school in my winter uniform. I just hate summer uniforms! They look so stupid with stockings! Just look!" she shouted annoyedly, throwing away her coat and kicking with her leg toward Satoshi. 

As she kicked, her skirt fluttered up, flashing her panties for a brief moment. The room went silent once again. Satoshi just stood there with his mouth wide open from shock. Everyone's face in the student council turned red from embarrassment. Soon, the vice president's voice broke the silence. He adjusted his glasses and said:

"Well... She's got a point."

Everyone's jaws dropped as the situation reached another height of awkwardity.

"Ahh..." the president sighed as he stood up. He couldn't stand it any longer."Looks like we're not gonna get any further with this..."

He stepped closer to Satoshi and said:

"But I appreciate your concern, Satoshi-kun." Then he turned to Kaede and said, "Could you two buy a new flower pot?"

"Huuuh? Me and she?! But she was the one who broke it!"  Satoshi thought. "Why do I..." he was about to start complaining loudly in his confusion, but Kaede quickly interrupted him.

"Yes, president-senpai~!"

"Thank you for your cooperation, really," the president answered. "Now, if you'd excuse us..."

Kaede nodded. Then she grabbed the listless Satoshi's hand and walked out of the room.

As the door closed, Kaede let go of Satoshi's hand. The boy was still in shock. Not because she grabbed his hand, but because he didn't resist the president's request.

"Why?" he asked. "Why did you just do this?"

Kaede slowly stepped closer to him with a serious look and whispered into his ears.

"Because I love you."

"Huuuuh?!" his face froze.

"Fu... Fufufu..." Kaede started laughing loud.

"Just kidding!" she said, slightly covering her insolent smile with her hand.

Satoshi let out a deep sigh as he facepalmed. "Shit! I let my guard down... Of course, she was lying!"

"You should've seen your face when you heard it! It was hilarious!" she was still laughing tearfully.

"Ugh..." Satoshi growled at his own stupidity.

"But you want to join the student council, don't you?" Kaede calmly said.

"Y-yeah... Wait, how did you know?!"

"You're way too honest... I didn't want to cause any more trouble for you. That's why I did it."

"But why did you lie in the first place, if it came to this anyway?"

"It's not like I knew it," Kaede smilingly shrugged and walked away.

"Hey, don't forget your promise to the president!"

"Yeah, sure!" she said casually and shook her hair with her hand.

"This girl..." Satoshi thought turning the other way. "Such a mystery."
