Chapter 0:
Collision Theory
Usually people work hard in their lives in order to gain something. Whether it’s for self-improvement, money or for other reasons, it's a common trend that people want to live a life of prosperity.
I’ve never felt that way. It’s too much effort.
I’m perfectly fine with living a normal life. It has the basic necessities for me to function as a human being. My day usually consisted of going to school, going home, studying and sleeping. When adult life comes around, I’ll just work a typical office job and be able to provide for myself. Or a wife, if I ever find someone. Finally, I'll die peacefully and that'll be it.
Though even someone as boring as me had an interest. I wasn’t completely robotic, after all. On a random day I had fallen into a web novel site and found myself spending some time reading and writing an isekai novel.
It wasn’t about all the reincarnation, harems and overly-powered main character. Rather I was more interested in how all the characters seemed unremarkably funny. They all seemed completely different from me.
I fell in love with the uniqueness of these characters and I wanted to try to write a story that could move even the most boring person.
I tried to write a few short novels, but they all flopped. I had no experience in this area. Most of the comments written all had the sort of theme that I was writing “an AI generated story that lacks real emotions.”
I had just about given up and would have continued on with my life when I stumbled upon a private message in my inbox.
Hello Rens Bouche, want to be a part of something special?
I looked at the message in confusion. Was this a new creative method that disgusting scammers used?
I can see that you’ve read my message. I’ll get to the point. I want you to write a script for me.
Who even are you?
Haven’t you seen my account? I’m Aris Kno.
Who?
You seriously don’t know me? I didn’t know people like you existed… Then again, I figured you would be a strange individual based on your works.
He then proceeded to explain that he was an award-winning director and wanted me to write a script for a romantic short film. Something like this would require way too much work. I was definitely the opposite of the ideal person for this job.
I can’t be bothered. Ask someone else.
Don’t you want to try something new? I can tell that you seem like someone who hasn’t felt that excited feeling before.
…
He can somehow read me like a book... Interesting.
Fine. I’ll do it.
Over the next few months, I immersed myself into writing a romantic story. This was an entirely new genre and I could not even grasp how other authors write this type of stuff. How does someone write about a love confession without making them cringe?
My family obviously found out about my new project and were quite happy that I had found something to spend time in. They, notably my older sister, offered their experiences with love, and soon I had finally finished the script. It was filled of all sorts of things I would never imagine would happen in real life but nevertheless I sent it over to Aris. He had given it a lot of praise.
This will definitely be a hit! You’re a genius.
Thank you. But please don’t mention me in the credits.
Why?
I don’t want all that unnecessary fame. People might start asking me about this and future projects. I can’t be bothered.
You never change do you? It still feels wrong if I don’t mention you at all. How about a different alias?
Fine. You can write me as…Nf3.
Writing the script had been really fun, but I could never write something like that again.
The film was a huge success. I had found out about it, since all of the local news agencies and television shows were raving about it. More notably the lead female actor, Rei Sakasa, had made a name for herself with the film and won best up-and-coming actress. She would later find herself in many films and magazines. Having watched the film myself, I could tell she was a special talent. Being the same age as me, I admired how she had so much already that others only could dream to obtain. She had shown the world her attraction.
That was a few years ago. I'm now 16 and had finished my final year of junior high. I had retired from script-writing and had returned to writing my novel.
“Hey Renny, quit being a nerd and leave already. You don’t want to be late for your first day of high school don’t you~?”
“Shut up sis. And quit calling me that.”
I turned off my laptop and picked up my bag and left.
“Have fun! First impressions are important remember!”
