Lucky Draw [100 word stories]
Sometimes, I can still hear her tippy taps on the floor. But when I turn around, I remember she isn’t there anymore. I must be delusional to hear the faint jingle of her bell. Oh, what I would give to scratch her ears one last time, to feel her content purring against my skin… But Milly is gone and I need to move on.
And yet, when I settle down by the fireplace at night I feel a warm weight in my lap. I’ve decided that whether Milly is with us or not… Her memory will always stay with me.
