Chapter 25:
Lucky Draw [100 word stories]
Since I retired, I’ve been keeping corpses (animal and otherwise) in my shed to harvest for my daily fishing trips. Growing my own bait is cheaper than buying Petco’s.
Some days I use tweezers to pluck them out of the puckering flesh, other days, I delight in pressing my fingers into the oozing holes, digging around until I find a big, lively one. They squirm beneath my fingers as I pinch and pull them out. If I squish them too hard, they pop like a pimple, squeezing out their gooey insides…
What else can I say: Maggots are great bait.
