Sword and Love

Chapter 10- Why!!

“Okay, then let’s go!!” Aya added in a loud tone, Aya's exuberant voice filled the room, and her determination seemed unwavering. Aya's grip on my arm tightened as she propelled us forward, breaking free from the confines of the room and into the hallway. Closing the Shouji, blocking us from our parents.

"What happened to you?" I yelled at Aya, frustration and confusion tainting my voice. However, she seemed uninterested in answering my question, her focus elsewhere.

"Kougi, I will be with Yuuki," Aya uttered addressing the old man standing before us, the same old man who let me and my mother in the Masuri estate. The old man, Kougi, regarded Aya with a noble and dignified expression. "As you say, young lady Aya," he responded in his calm and respectful tone, acknowledging her request.

With a determined look on her face, Aya swiftly continued moving outside the estate, retracing the same route we had taken to arrive in the first place. As we made our way through the familiar streets, I couldn't help but notice a change in Aya's demeanour.

"Leave me," I said in frustration, forcefully pulling my hand away from Aya's grip. My emotions surged within me, a mixture of anger, confusion, and disappointment. "What happened to you?" she asked in a shy and uncertain tone, her eyes searching for answers. Her words pierced through my frustration, momentarily halting my anger. I turned to face her, my expression a mix of exasperation and disbelief. "I had a perfect plan to reject this marriage proposal," I retorted, my voice laced with frustration. "But because of your idiocy, I'm now trapped into marrying you!!” Aya looked at me, her eyes widening in surprise at my sudden outburst. “Marrying You!!!” I said with my face filled with embarrassment.

Aya's sudden outburst of laughter caught me off guard, and her devilish look only fuelled my growing frustration. The anger within me welled up, and I couldn't help but respond with a stern voice.

"Don't laugh at me," I said, my words laced with the intensity of my emotions. "Who gave you the right to stop me from laughing?"

Aya's mocking tone continued, unaffected by my words. Her laughter echoed through the air, adding fuel to the fire of my anger. It felt as if she was intentionally trying to provoke me, and my patience wore thin.

"This isn't a joke, Aya," I said firmly, my voice tinged with a mix of frustration and hurt. "We're talking about our lives, our future. It's not something to be taken lightly."

Her laughter subsided, but a mischievous smile lingered on her lips. She looked at me, her eyes filled with a glimmer of amusement. "You take everything so seriously, Yuuki," she said, her tone teasing. "Can't you see the humour in this situation?"

I felt a surge of confusion as her words registered in my mind. Was she playing with my emotions? Was this all some sort of twisted game to her?

Anger and hurt consumed me, and I couldn't hold back my response. "This is not a joke to me," I said, my voice filled with a mixture of anger and vulnerability. "I don't appreciate being toyed with or laughed at."

Aya's expression softened, and the teasing glint in her eyes faded away. Aya's hand touched my arm, her face took on an anger-filled expression, and a sense of dread filled the air around us. Her words came out with a mix of frustration and accusation, leaving me momentarily speechless.

"First, you link with my father and talk as if you're old friends," she began, her voice laced with a hint of bitterness. "Then, you reject me because of my taste in coffee. And then, you try to justify yourself in the most insincere way possible. And to top it all off, you attempt to manipulate my father to reject the proposal in a young fold manner."

Her words hit me like a wave, each accusation piercing through my heart. I had unknowingly hurt her with my actions and words, and it was clear that she had been keeping track of every misstep. Guilt washed over me as I realized the weight of my mistakes. "I... I didn't mean to manipulate your father," I stuttered, my voice filled with regret. "I was just trying to find a way to get out of this marriage proposal.”

Aya's expression softened slightly, but the anger still lingered in her eyes. "That doesn't excuse your actions," she said firmly. “Then why you agreed to marry me, needless say that you love me,” I said in the same anger-filled tone. “Well, then you could reject the proposal, and leave the marriage proposal would be null and void.” She said in the same tone, shouting at me. “You saw my mother there, she would exile me from the family if I did that.” I said shouting at her, “But that, doesn’t answer, why you said you loved me.” I continue still shouting at her.

Aya's hurtful words cut through me, and I could see the pain in her eyes, almost tearing me apart. She spoke with a mixture of anger and sorrow, sharing a deep vulnerability that I had not fully understood until now.

"To bring you to a ground level," Aya said, her voice trembling with emotion. "Ever since middle school, my parents have been trying to arrange my marriage. Every time I reject a person, it hurts, but no one has ever rejected me. You have no idea how that feels."

As Aya's grip tightened around me, I felt a mix of conflicting emotions. Despite the tense atmosphere, my words slipped out without much thought, fuelled by my own frustration and confusion. "Are you even close to me, just leave me alone" I blurted out, disregarding the gravity of the situation. At that moment, I didn't consider the impact of my words or the pain they could inflict.

Aya's reaction was immediate. Her grip loosened, and she stepped back, her face downcast. The air between us grew heavy with silence as her response echoed softly. "Fine."
