Chapter 2:

REMAID- Walk With Me

My Grandma's Loving Maid Is My Classroom Neighbor?!

That asshole, telling me she won’t even be nice to me. Who the hell does she think she is? All I did was tell her yo and…thirst over her as soon as I met her…but, I mean, come on, It’s not like I’m mean or anything.

Yeah! Yeah…well, not verbally mean. Do I smell bad? Oh shit, did I shower?! Shit, I forgot to shower last night and got too absorbed in Tanya to shower! God damnnnnnn, I must smell like a dog's rear!

That must be it then, I must just smell bad! Wait, that’s stupid. Nobody is that mean over smell alone. I must have offended her somehow…but HOW??? I just exist, that’s it!

I exist and I sexually objectified her…ohhhhh…yeah, no, maybe it’s that. Maybe she doesn’t like perverts. That’s gotta be discrimination. Oh, come on man, what the hell is this? I thought she was nice too. I guess I just suck.

Also, what the hell is taking this guy so long?! I’ve been waiting half an hour and he’s STILL talking to that girl?! What could she be saying that’s so important…mm, now I’m curious. No! None of your business. Bad Yuta!

Yeah, bad Yuta! Throw yourself off the roof, you pervert stalker.

Well, one of those is right.

The door to the principal's office finally opens and the girl inside walks out, crying her eyes out. I watch her leave in absolute terror. No way…did the principal dude do that? I gulp. Hey, what the hell have I gotten myself into? I look back to the door and see him. His stare is intense, like a dicer looking at an uncut freezer queso cube.

“Yuta Mamoya, my office.” He speaks so powerfully. His words set the whole world a-freeze. I gulp, getting up without a word and making my way over. Well, no, that doesn’t really tell the whole story. I hold in my pee as I awkwardly waddle over to the man. He watches with a look of cold neutrality, as If I’m just a worm under his boot.

I enter his office, blank of any decoration. There’s just his desk, three chairs, and a couple file cabinets. I sit myself in one of the chairs in front of his desk as he sits at his, well, as close to a throne as you can get in a school.

“Now then, let’s get to business. You’ll be joining our school today. I’ve looked over your transcript. Your grades are…fine. Your behavior is fine. You…certainly exist.”

Dick.

“So, we do have to discuss one thing. I understand it may be painful, but do you mind if I refer to the incident involving your mother’s passing?”

“Uhm…I mean, if we have to, alright.” I look down at the floor. What is he doing? Is this seriously any of his business?

“I just wanted to tell you that I’ve been informed of your circumstances, and my heart goes out to you. I understand many people respond to grief differently. The counselor’s office is always available to you, and If I happen to be around, you should feel free to come to me.” He gives me a firm, manly smile.

“Oh…uhm. Thank you sir. That’s very kind of you.” I respond. I gotta be honest, I’m flabbergasted. Did I have this guy pinned down wrong?

“Alright, that’s all. There’s a student waiting outside to give you a tour. Don’t keep her waiting. Oh, right, your schedule.” He grabs a paper off his desk and hands it to me. On it are a list of classes I now have to remember. Lovely.

“Uhm, sir..there was a crying girl coming out of here. What was that about?”

“Oh, that FUCKING BITCH CAROL?! LET ME TELL YOU ALL ABOUT HER!”

Nevermind, I’m gonna piss myself.

###

I walk out of the principal’s office, determined to avoid going in there again for a long time. Standing in the office, a girl wearing a black sweater that goes down to just above her belly button and a black skirt and tights stands there.

Her short black hair is straight and smooth looking, and her eyes are shiny and yellow, almost like a cat’s. Simply put, there’s no way she’s here for me.

“Yuta?”

Oh, she’s here for me.

“That’s me. You are?”

“I’m Rimi Ichigaya.” She gives a toothy smile, holding up a peace sign. Oh fuck, she’s so cute.

“Uh-uhm-uh-er-Rimi, w-w-w-w-ww-w–ww-would you show me around?” I stutter over myself like I’m high on adrenaline and she nods with vigor.

“Just follow behind me friend!” She turns her back to me and I get to see the shape of her…oh yeah, I’m gonna like this school. I follow close behind as she leads me outside the front office. Standing in the hall, she seems to be having a hard time. There's a four way intersection, one way leading to the front doors and the other three leading very different paths.

“Uhm…well this is problematic!” Rimi rubs her head, laughing awkwardly.

“You can take me wherever, I’m sure I’ll figure it all out on my own eventually.” Honestly, the whole tour thing is unnecessary unless you’re someone bad with directions or maps, and if you’re bad at both you must be a fun driver.

“Really? Good, then walk with me. I need to vent.” With that, she hooks her hands behind her back like a cutie pie and starts walking. As we walk, I wait for her to start talking, but she doesn’t.

“Uh, you said you needed to vent?”

“Oh, I did? Uhm, sorry, I don’t know why I said that. I’m getting mixed up.” She sighs, leaning down. “Ahhhh, I’m so tired!” She complains.

“Sleep badly?”

“Didn’t sleep for shit! My sister wouldn’t stop waking me up. She’s a kicker. I wish she’d stop sleeping with me when she gets nightmares.” Rimi goes on, grabbing onto fistfuls of her hair.

“Yep, definitely annoying. Kids are cute but they’re absolute nightmares.” I feel a sense of unnerve when I think of the kids back home…such assholes.

“God forbid if I ever have any of my own.” She says, crossing her arms.

“Ah, I’m sure you’d raise some good ones.” I try to think of a reasonable response to her statement, and only that comes to mind.

“Bold of you to say when we’re just meeting.” She gives me a curious eye. “But interesting…you could be fun to talk to.”

“Yeah, I’m certainly something, alright.”

###

As we continue our walk and talk, we hear what sounds like a scuffle. A boy runs past us, his nose covered in blood. Turning the corner, we see a kid beating on another kid.

“Think you’re hot shit?! I’ll beat your ass till you can’t walk!” The boy looks violently angry, his teeth clenched and his eyes ferocious. Rimi proceeds to whip out her phone and yell, “Hey!” Seeing the phone, the aggressor panics and runs off. We both run down the hall to check on the boy on the ground.

“I-I’m fine.” He lies, holding his stomach while forcing himself up.

“Dude, you got blood pouring out your mouth. You need the nurse.” I try to reason with him, but he shakes his head.

“Nah. Nurse see this? I’m done for. Nurse is more observant than my mom, so she’ll know, and suddenly my mom will have a freak out and then we’re on the next train out of here.” He speaks about his circumstances to us before asking us to escort him to the bathroom.

Knowing we aren’t gonna get anywhere else with him, we decide to go with it. So, standing outside the boy’s bathroom, we wait for him to finish cleaning himself up. After about ten minutes he’s out, looking perfectly fine.

“Wonders of makeup.” He explains before putting a hand on both of our shoulders. “So then, where are we headed?” He asks. Rimi sighs.

“Probably best to head to class now. Yuta, what’s your third period?” I take out my schedule from my pocket.

“Uhh, PE.”

“Oh shit, that’s me too. Are we in the same classes?” Rimi takes my schedule, looking over it. “Holy hell, we are! That’s awesome!” She gets a giant smile that sets my heart ablaze.

“I-it is.” I say, looking away with red cheeks.

“Well then, I guess I’ll show you there.” With that, me and Rimi split off from the boy, who proceeds to his own class. We arrive at the locker rooms in just a few minutes, perfect timing as the bell begins to ring

“So, uh, Rimi…thanks for the walk?”

“Thank you! It’s nice to have someone to talk to for once.” Huh? For once? What’s that supposed to mean?

“For once-”

“What the hell are you doing here?!” I'm interrupted from my question by the arrival of a familiar face. I turn to look, and find a girl with long red hair and emerald green eyes staring at me with a look of confusion and surprise. It's Mina.

She's very much not happy.

There’s a violent silence between the two of us, which Rimi observes with a raised eyebrow. At times like this, there's only one valid response.

“Fuck.”
