Chapter 20:

Chapter 20. Necromancer Soul

The Hero Who Can't Level

“Emma! Why is peasant 1 and peasant 2 here?” I asked angrily as we arrived at the family restaurant the next day for lunch.

“If the party is Ken and the Peasants and we are peasants 1 and 2, is Emma peasant 3?” China girl asked.

“Obviously, she is the head of the peasants so show your superior some respect. Why are you two here anyways? Did the fucking butler bribe you two to ruin our date?” I asked, not happy to see the peasants so soon after the exam.

“You expect to get away with my ultra rare one of a kind loot without any explanation? I did even more research and even called my dad and no one except you seems to have any idea what this soul item is.” Peasant 1 aka China girl replied.

“I just want to know how you are level 0 and if all of your skills are from items or how you get skills without being able to level?” Peasant 2, blondie jr asked.

After trying my best to persuade them to leave and failing. I decided I might as well tell them the epic origin story of the eventual hero while we waited for all the food Emma ordered to be served.

“You fought only slimes for 12 whole years because of this loser? Are you crazy? No wonder you are only level 36 when you have the best leveling exponent in the world. What a waste!” China girl screamed. Did she just fucking call me a loser or am I hearing things?

“Isn’t this soul skill cheating? Everyone else could only get 100 total skills. But with so many thousands of different monsters and bosses, how is it fair that you could technically have an infinite number of skills?” Blonde Jr asked.

“I want to know how it’s fair that I had to fucking kill slimes for 12 years without gaining a single fucking stat. Besides, sometimes I will get a shitty skill or even no skills at all!” I replied, trying to downplay my ability.

Obviously it didn’t take blondie Jr for me to realize just how fucking broken this gift I have is. The reason why Emma was so special was not because she is the daughter of an elite 50 but because of her leveling exponent. All those with a .25 exponent have quite a bit of attention placed on them.

Afterall, to go from level 50 to 51, it would take Emma just about 7 million exp while someone with a .5 exponent would take almost 64 fucking billion and an average person with a 100% exponent would need 112.5 quadrillion exp.

It’s easy to see why no one except those with a 25% has ever reached level 90 or high. One thing I did just learn from talking to the peasants is that the exponent actually goes up by 5% so there are quite a lot of people who are still really lucky like those two with a .3 and needed almost 50 million exp to go from level 50 to 51. A shit ton for sure, but still very doable.

“All of the elite 50 have a .35 or lower for obvious reasons. Once your exponent gets any higher, you just can’t get to a high enough level to compete no matter how much you grind because the leveling system is just not fair.” Peasant 1 complained.

“So for most people, the higher level you get, the harder it’s to obtain a new skill and the limited number of powerful skills is the biggest difference between a top hero and an average licensed hunter. The more I think about it, the more unfair your soul skill sounds.” Peasant 2 commented, trying her best to expose my overpowered ability to seemingly gain an infinite number of skills.

“Okay peasant 2, I know my ability might seem special. But what do you expect? I am the fucking leader, the hero, the protagonist of this world. If I wasn’t the special one, than I would have fucking suffered for 12 years for no reason.” I replied, no need to be jealous blondie Jr. You aren’t him so you won’t get the special treatment that I am getting.

“It’s Annika! I can’t believe someone could be this confident and cocky yet so stupid that you can’t even remember someone’s name!” she replied.

“Peasant 2.. It’s not that I can't remember your name. I just refuse to call you by your name.” I replied. It’s not like you will be a recurring character so why should I bother with the name of a npc.

Looking at me with disgust, peasant 2 turned to the girls to chat while I decided it was finally time to see what new skill I will get from this soul of a dungeon boss.

As I opened my inventory and pointed to the soul stone and clicked on use, the stone disappeared from my inventory and I heard that orgasmic Ding as I got a new popup window.

“New skill acquired!” I said happily as the girls turned their attention back to me. As they obviously should since I am the protagonist. I should be the center of all the attention.

"Active skill acquired. Necromancer Soul. Active Skill(Cost 200,000 mana per cast), Summon Golem! Interest. First purely active skill I have got.” I commented as I clicked on the detailed screen to see exactly what the skill did.

“Summon Golem (Maximum. 1 active)- Permanently destroy an item to summon a golem with baseline health 9999, baseline mana 9999, baseline vit 255, baseline def 255, baseline mdef 255, baseline att 255. Also take the attributes and stats from the item destroyed and incorporate into the stats of the golem. (Can gain active skill based on items used for summoning). Summoning a new golem will destroy the already existing one. The summoned golem can be turned into an item to be kept in the inventory after 15 seconds of not receiving damage and re-summoned at any time. Golem is permanently destroyed if hp reaches 0.” What a shit ton of text I just read as I tried to process the information.

“The golem seems to be very strong, especially if you could summon it using a good item. With 255 vit, it will regen HP like crazy and with that much health, def and mdef? I think you just got a pretty good tank if we could figure out how you would ever get 200,000 mana to cast it.” Emma said as I pondered on the situation.

Max hp and mp is 9999, I can’t level so I am stuck at 1 for both. I think there is a potion you can get that will add max mp and some that will add different amounts but potions can’t stack so the highest I can get is 9999 from potion.

“How in the hell can I get to 200,000 man to cast this shit? Emma, please look at all the best in slot items ever and see how much MP total someone can get from equipment.” I asked my sidekick politely while wondering if I just got excited for no reason again and got another worthless shit of a skill.

“Good news is that you can get mana from every item slot. Bad news is that if you want anything over 5000 from a single slot, only items from level S and above dungeon will drop those and with my allowance, we won’t be able to afford even a single item, much less all 10 slots.” My beautiful blondie relayed the bad news.

“Isn’t there a support skill that temporarily boosts total mana like the hp one Emma already uses?” Mia commented.

For the first time since meeting her in real life, I think I want to hug my online bff who I have not liked a single bit since meeting her irl.

“She is right! There is a mana skill exactly the same as my hp boost. At level 1 it grants 50% boost to total mana and when maxed out at level 10, it will add 700% to your mana pool! With high int, it could get much higher!” Emma said excitedly as she searched up the skill right away.

“Peasant 1. Thank you for being useful unlike peasant 2. If a common support skill can boost my mana by 10x then I can definitely find a way to summon a golem. By the way Emma, is that sword your dad got still on display here in Japan?” I asked coyly.

“Ken. Don’t be stupid. No way in hell you are getting your hands on that sword ever again. Much less turning it into some golem that could permanently make the sword disappear.” Emma replied. Knew instantly what I was thinking.

But can you really blame me? Turn a fucking billion dollar sword into a golem. I bet that shit would get like crazyass strong active skills and with that much extra stat gain, the golem would probably exist even after I die from old age and go down in the annals of history as the single strongest mother fucking summon ever.

Oh well, even without some overpowered shit to summon it from, the base stats are already insane and with such high def and mdef and vita. It will make a much better tank than the disrespectful peasant 2. Once I start my academy arc, I bet someone with a decent level of mana boost could help me get my golem online and my party of Emma and I would get that much stronger.

“The results are posted!” Mia shouted just as I was about to dig into my juicy looking pork cutlet.
