Is the past gone?

"Huh! Huh!'' A girl panting, looking agitated to an extent of a death wish. The ceiling boards start falling and block her way out of the fire. The fire continue to increase letting off smoke that in turn chock her. 

 ''Kushi!'' A boy running towards the fire calls out in a loud voice. Dark red as his hair is, swinging left and right from all the running. ''Kushi!'' He passes her the first time due to the smoke covering her. He comes back when he hears her also shouting,'' Touka!''

 He follows the voice to where she is. ''Kushi!'' He says while trying to lift the boards off her body. 

The girl he's referring to as Kushi pushes him back and tells him, ''Touka! Please run, forget about me, Touka. Run before they get here,'' She pants a little then continues,'' or this mission would be classified as failure.''

''But, Kushi! I can't just leave you out here to die.'' Touka says while crying. '' Touka, please run, save yourself, live for the both of us.'' Kushi says panting heavily. ''Touka! Listen-, even if you get me out of here in time, I would be of no use, I've got fractured bones, my spine broke from the boards, so I have been paralyzed from the waist down-, my legs wouldn't do you any good, I can't even run away. '',She finishes. ''But, Kushi, I still have to tr...'' Before he could conclude the statement, a blast was heard emitting from the area just across where they were.

''They are already here,'' Kushi spouts out, her silver blue hair just laying still on the ground with her,'' you have to go Touka or they will kill you!''

''I can't Kushi! I can't leave you to die out here.'' Touka says his tears growing more and more by every passing word. '' Book four: Rule of Tyber: Rule twenty four. If a soldier is found in a dire  condition and another member of the same force is around, he or she should carry the injured to the higher ops in the same rank on the same mission, then the higher ops would decide the fate of that wounded soldier and take a course of action. In that case, I was set as your second in command, ranked as platinum by the minister, which makes me a higher ops in terms of rank status.'' Touka says out boldly

''Kushi! Please allow me to assist you.'' 

''Book four: Rule of Tyber: Rule number fifty two. If a soldier who's injured sacrifices him or herself during battle then . then his or herself dying wishes are to be fulfilled.''

''Touka!'' She calls out while trying to lift her head up straight.'' This is my last order to you as your higher ops, please, please run, run and live.''

'' Kushi! There is something I need to tell you.....,'' Touka, still sobbing tries to mutter words. ''No need, I already knew how you felt about me. I knew it all from the first day, you almost got suspended just because you wanted to prove I was right. I wanted to tell you  the same, that I also felt for you, there drowning in the sorrows I bore all this time. I feel truly sorry for what has become of us, soldiers shouldn't be playing around with emotions, but they were too much, too much to conceal. You entered the military just to protect me. Did all those vigorous training, stood on volatile ground, went to dangerous missions, just for the likes of me.''

''It looks like all of my hard priceless training wasn't just that good enough.'' Tears still running making gutters like streams. '' You don't have to protect me anymore Touka, cause now you'll be set free from that burden.'' She tries to reach her pocket, and, removes a chain-like necklace shaped like a frozen leaf. ''Take this Touka, and go live your life. Now go!'' She complete with a loud voice.

The same time she reached the climax in her sentence, Touka wakes up on a prison bed- sweating and panting profusely, while trying to sit upright on the bed, and try to fathom what happened, why and why now of all days. He's left brainstorming.
