Chapter 8:

Do You Want Me to Come to Your House?

From the Depths of an Emotionless Heart

Today, Mika had a lot of work to do. Due to the time he had spent with Saya yesterday, most of the tasks he had to do remained unfinished, and on top of that, there was no food left at home because he couldn't go shopping. He pondered what to do first, making a logical analysis in his mind.

I think it would make more sense to start working on the computer. I have eggs for breakfast,

After breakfast, he sat down at the computer and started coding. The program and website he was working on began to take shape. It was a bit challenging at first, but he was getting used to it.

Why did I have to stay up so late yesterday? Now I have to do everything today

Even though he couldn't do what he wanted while doing a task, his logic and perfectionism made him want to finish what he started in an organized way.

He designed the homepage.

It doesn't look bad...

By the time he finished coding, it was already past noon. At least he had two days of work done, which meant he could buy a large amount of products to buy and sell and store them.

He stretched back and looked out. It was a sunny day.

Considering the rainy weather during the week, now seems like the most logical time to go shopping

Before closing the computer, he noticed that Dascord was still open in the background. That was where he had last talked to Saya. He had also gotten her phone number yesterday.

"Whatever," he thought and shut down the computer. He felt quite hungry. He really needed to get something to eat.

This time he had a lot to buy, so he had to go by bike. After getting his bike out of the garage and getting ready, he rode to the market.

The first place he went to was Uncle Thole's market. He called him "Uncle" because they had become close friends with his family. He parked his bike, and the mixed scent of the fruits on the counter reached his nose.

"Good morning, Uncle Thole."

"Oh, Mika, welcome!"

" I came to do some shopping."

"Ah, I see. So you ran out of your weekly supply, huh? Hehehe."

"Y-yes, like always."

"Mika, we have this discussion every week, but is this really enough? Well, I don't want to push it, but a person can get bored."

"Don't worry, I get my daily vitamin and protein supplements."

"Yeah, yeah, you and your healthy lifestyle. Anyway, if you ever want a change of pace or home-cooked meals, you can come to us anytime."

"Thank you for thinking of me."

"Don't mention it. You and my little boy had water fights when you were only four. It seems like a long time ago. I miss those days."

"Y-yeah... I don't remember much, but that could be true."

"Anyway, let's concentrate on our business. A carton of eggs, milk, some cheese and salad ingredients, right?"

"You forgot the potatoes."

"Oh, right, sorry, I forgot again, hehe."

Mika watched Thole while also looking at a part of the city across the street and the mountains in the background.

"Hmm, we have a small problem." Uncle Thole checked the empty sacks again while looking at Mika thoughtfully.

"We're out of potatoes. It was quite busy today, I'm sorry."

Mika thought about what to do:

If I go now, I'll waste time, but without potatoes I won't get the necessary amount of nutrients. Anyway, I have to go.

"Okay, Uncle Thole, no problem. I'll stop by somewhere else, but it will be difficult to go back and forth with all these things. Can they stay with you for now, and I'll pick them up on my way back?"

"Of course, I'll keep your things separate."

"Alright, thank you. Goodbye for now."

"You're welcome. Take care!" Uncle Thole waved as Mika got on his bike.

Mika started to think about the next possible market. There was one near the park he always passed.

If I can ride a little faster, I can make up for the time.

Mika arrived at the market after pedaling for a while. The only thing he needed was potatoes.

My stomach is burning with hunger. I could get a little snack

After bagging the potatoes, he headed to the snack aisle.

If I can just get some nutritious chocolate and nuts.

He chose the same brand he had bought before. At that moment, he heard a familiar voice right next to him.

"Mika?" It was Saya calling him by name.

She had come with her school uniform and bag and looked surprised as she stared at Mika.

"Uh... hi," Mika said, but he was experiencing the worst case scenario. Because just like yesterday, there was no guarantee that he would be able to keep up with what he had to do.

"Hello! What are you doing here? Isn't it a bit far for you?"

"I came to the market. The nearby one didn't have any potatoes, so I came to the next one."

"I see. Do you need any help?"

"What kind of help?"

"When I say 'help,' you know... anything?"

"No." Mika had also put the snack he was holding into the basket. Saya seemed a bit annoyed by Mika's reaction, but she already knew that this was his normal state.

"Hey, Mika."

"Yes?" Mika had planned to go to the cashier, but he turned around when Saya called him.

"What are you doing today?"

"When you say 'today,' do you mean later in the day?"

Saya nodded, indicating yes.

"Um, I made some progress today with the coding method you showed me. I'm going to keep working on it and finish the website."

"Oh, really? That's great news."

"Uh, yeah..."

"What was the last thing you did on the website?"

"The homepage design."

"WHAT? How can you finish coding the whole website and finish the homepage so fast?" Saya was shocked by Mika's words.

"Uh, I don't know. I did it in the morning."

"How many hours did it take?"

"Um, about four hours or so."

Saya exclaimed in amazement.

"IN SUCH A SHORT TIME?"

"Short? It actually felt long to me."

"Mika, you're a bee."

"Um... I don't know if that's a compliment, but..."

"Well, anyway. What about the photo design?"

"That's the only thing left."

"But you can't finish the website without it."

"Is that so?" Hearing this, Mika fell into deep thought. He needed to make time for the photo design, and if he didn't act immediately, he realized that he would never finish it today.

"I'm sorry, Saya. Since I'm in a hurry, I have to go now. If there's anything, you can send me a message," he said, turning his back and starting to walk quickly. Just when he thought,

"Alright, I managed that," Saya                 unexpectedly grabbed Mika's right arm.

"Do you want me to come over and help you?"
