This World Part 1

This world? Well, we’re currently in The Arquette Republic. This place used to be called Astropotamia before the war.

“A war, very interesting, what happened?” I questioned.

The war started before I was born. Some say it was caused by “The Great Retribution” some say it was out of pure dislike. Nevertheless, the lord abused his power and decided to cast a mind control spell on the rest of the population for his own gain.

“The Great Retribution? The Lord? Mind control spell?” as I went in for another bite.

About three decades ago, in M.Y.120, a man by the name of Adrien Arquette takes the crown of The Andhori Republic, becoming the first monarch not to hold the Andhori name in their long history, thus changing the name of the nation. He takes the title of Lord, and becomes Lord Arquette, and soon after invades another nation west, Herrdanstandt Kingdom. They fell in devastation a short year later to Lord Arquette, consequently beginning “The Great Retribution.” A protest by the other 8 nations to punish Lord Arquette and his republic.

“I take that the protest was a failure.”

It was a total failure, as they did not realize the true power of Lord Arquette. He was known as an “Anti-Minori” and possessed the magic and power of a god, which is why he was able to successfully invade all nations with his mind control spell within 20 years. 

“How do we stop him exactly?”

To stop him, you must match him in God-like power, and that is merely impossible. But this is why I believe that Goddess Minori sent you to this world.

“Isn't the Goddess dead, and why would she pick me?"

Apparently. She died 150 years ago and left us with the book to give a path in our lives. But I believe she's still out there, and since you told me her name without any backstory to this world, I can have a strong belief she didn't die. And the reasoning why she picked you? Maybe by chance.

“I see, and what is this book?"

The Book of Minori, a sacred text which began writing itself after her very birth. It is a guide to our very life, and the reason why we have life at all. The Goddess herself is credited with forming the 10 great nations, which has spawned people of the “Anti-Minori.” Consisting of Lord Arquette, his people, and the Demon Queen. 

“I remember you saying something about the Demon Queen yesterday and the undead creatures." as I finished my last bite. 

Indeed. Those creatures are dead soldiers from the war after The Great Retribution. The lands were filled with the dead, and the Demon Queen used her spell to give them a second life. They were first spotted after Lord Arquette took power, which is why I also believe they are working together. These undead creatures dislike roaming large cities only because Lord Arquette has those places protected, and little towns like this one are were people with magic are located.

"Tell me a little more about the Demon Queen, and magic?

The Queen herself was the sister of the Goddess. For years, she felt jealous and left out of the spotlight, and began developing a new form of magic called Necromancy. It started small with plants, until she started experimenting on humans. She kept her experiments as a secret until Minori's death, but refused to bring her back to life. Her jealousy got to her, and she only began experimenting on more of the dead. It wasn't until Lord Arquette and his Republic took power, when the undead began increasing in numbers. 

This world has magic, that is the only way you can fight. In order to learn the skill-line, you must be an adventurer. New spells are being invented everyday by strong adventurers, and some spells and classes can only be possessed by one person, such as the Queen and necromancy.

"So how do I become an adventurer and learn magic?"

We would have to go to the adventurer's guild and get you signed up. We can go there after we eat.

Aiko finally began eating her small portion of food, slowly.

"Could you tell me more about this book?" 

It is probably easier if we get a hold of the book, so you can read through it. I'm not able to recall important details.

"Understood, but how are we going to stop Lord Arquette and the Demon Queen?"

Well, like I said, you must match in God-like power. And the only way we can stop the lord, is if we stop the Anti-Minori and the Demon Queen first, which is not an easy task.

"Have people tried to match the powers?"

That I know of, no. I wouldn't be surprised if someone right now is attempting to stop them. 

"Very interesting." I said with much amazement. Aiko finished her bowl, "Let's go to the adventurer's guild." Aiko got up and headed towards the exit of the eating room.

An adventurer’s guild, I have only heard about them in video games, maybe this whole world is a game? Can’t be. I followed Aiko to the exit where we gave a young woman our empty bowls. She look at the two of us, "Have a great day!" 

We were now passing by the front desk, where Miss Annora halted us “I hope you lovebirds had a great night!” followed by an annoyed Aiko “Miss, must I recall this is not my boyfriend!” As I stood there in embarrassment. "He will never be my boyfriend, and will NEVER get to that base with me." Miss Annora responded, "I was only joking, why do you have to be so mean?"

Aiko sighed and quickly grabbed my arm as I stood there aimlessly, and we walked out of The Annoria Inn. The sun was shining, and the population was bustling in the street. For some reason, I became timid being seen around Aiko in public. “Onward to the Adventurer’s Guild.”
