Chapter 0:

Lovely Dreams become Late Wakeups

Watch Over You

Out of my immediate senses, my eyes stood agape as I'd awoken. I stood upright, surrounded in a mysterious place I could not discern. I was not afraid, per se, but i was befuddled beyond comprehension. I was in a large, sparse field. The sun shone like a ray-beam, gleaming against my eyes. Though, I could not feel the sensation of heat nor discomfort against my skin. The greenery stretched beyond my vision. With mini petals scattered around my frame like I was a rosary. With an inability to move, I merely stood in place, waiting for whatever was to happen next.

“Hey, you, what’s your name?” A voice spoke to me.

The voice was soothing, calming for the ears. My nose fluttered as a gentle aroma was caught by my senses. It was like a sweet fragrance you can't take your mind away from, I had to follow her request without resistance.

“Hello? Are you alive?” She asked me.

She turned me by the shoulders, forcing me to face her. She had amazing red-hair, it was blazing with fire. Her eyes reflected the sun in them, strong, and filled with energy. She seemed intimidating by her appearance, but her smile was warm, welcoming, and friendly beyond comprehension.

“I-I’m…” I began.

“First time?” She asked me.

I nodded. It was my first time. I was deathly afraid, afraid to talk to her.

“Don’t worry, it’s mine too!” She said excitedly.

She held her hand out to greet me, I obliged, and we shook hands. Her hands were soft, but had a firmness I could not describe.

“Oh! I nearly forgot,” She began, “Meet my friend, she’s new too!”

She moved herself out of the way to reveal a person stood behind her. A girl that had a beauty I’d never seen before in my life. I was frozen at her appearance.

“Don’t be shy, go greet her too!” The girl with the red hair said, shoving me close to her friend.

We looked one another in the eye, I wanted to say more, but I was a block of ice.

“H-Hello…” The girl greeted.

“H-Hi.” I replied.

I could see her agitate; she was as nervous as me.

I held out my hand.

“N-nice to meet you.” I stumbled.

“Likewise.” She replied, grabbing my hand.

She was warm, very warm. Her hands were small and fragile, but warm. I wanted to keep hold of her hand.

“What’s your name?” I asked her.

“I’m-”

‘BRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR’

I could not hear the girl say her name. An unpleasant buzzing noise rang throughout my ears.

“Sorry, I couldn’t hear you.” I said to her.

“I said, my name’s-”

‘BRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR’

“What? I can’t hear you!” I yelled.

‘BRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR’

I was awoken immediately. The sound of my alarm clock on my phone disturbed my rest. My entire frame was covered in sweat.

“It was a dream…” I muttered as I tried to wake myself up.

I turned over in my bed, grabbing my phone to inspect the time. My eyes shot open like a bottle rocket.

’08:10 A.M’ The time on my phone read.

I rubbed my eyes; I believed I was still dreaming. But the time did not magically change as I’d hoped it would.

“OH NO!” I yelled.

I shot up from my bed, springing to my closest.

“I’m gonna be late…I’m gonna be late…” I repeated over and over while I looked for clothes to wear.

I was about to be late for my first class in Japan.

I scrambled around my room as I hurriedly put on clothes, I knocked my head as I fell over trying to put on my pants. I had no time to think about pain, I needed to get to class as soon as possible. I grabbed my schoolbag and rushed into the bathroom downstairs. There was a housemate brushing his teeth in one of the sinks as I entered. I had to time to greet as I quickly shoved my toothbrush in my mouth. Seconds later, I sprinted for the front door.

“No breakfast, my boy?” Missus Takahashi, the housemother asked me.

“No time! I’m late for class!” I replied.

Rushing out the front door, I bumped into Mister Takahashi.

“Morning, kiddo. I see that you’re in a rush!’ He spoke.

“I’ll speak later, see you when I’m back!” I replied in a hurry.

I rushed off into the street, university campus was not far away, I could make it there within ten minutes if I sprinted my heart out. As I rushed away, I could hear Mister Takahashi yell at me:

“David! You have no shoes on! You’re barefoot!”

I made myself turn one-hundred and eighty degrees in an instant, running back to the house.

“WHY ME?” I yelled to the gods.
