Chapter 19:

Thinking It's "Not Wanting" ?

From the Depths of an Emotionless Heart

Mika started to ponder,

"To bring back? Is it possible?"

"Well, yes, it could be. Do what I've told you until your next appointment, and then we will see."

"Hmmm alright, thank you."

As Kota left, Saya approached the door, looking visibly stressed and worried.

"Is everything alright?" she asked, her voice trembling.

"Don't worry, Saya," Kota said with a smile, trying to reassure her.

After saying the necessary things to comfort her, he turned to Mika and whispered in his ear,

"I will inform your family about the general situation. I won't reveal our conversation yet, but don't forget what I told you." Kota smiled and added,

"Keep those who are with you close, they might hold the solution to everything."

"Okay, thank you, Kota."

After the farewell, Saya and Mika walked towards their bicycles.

"What did he tell you?" Saya asked, curious.

"It's not something important."

"Mika!" Saya resisted, appearing both curious and angry.

"Sorry, it's something between Kota and me."

Saya looked at Mika, and he seemed determined not to reveal anything. At that moment, Saya's phone rang.

"Hello? Yes... what?... Alright, I'll come right away."

Not wanting, huh? Why did Kota say that? What could be the reason?

"I'm sorry, Mika, I have to go now. Would it be too much if I leave you alone?"

"No, is everything alright?"

"Y-yes... I won't be able to come by bike, I'll take a taxi."

"Okay, no problem." When Mika looked at Saya, he could see her sad expression again. But he realized that it was not right for him to interfere with her matters.

"I'm heading back from here then. See you, Mika. I'm so sorry again."

"Okay. Take care!" He called after her as she hurriedly walked away.

What could be happening to make her act like this?

Mika had arrived home. He opened the door.

"Welcome back, Mika!" Mika's grandmother approached the door to welcome him.

"Grandma, shouldn't you be at your place?"

"Oh, no. By the way, where's Saya? I prepared dinner for all of us."

"She had to go somewhere urgently. And what do you mean, 'oh no'? What was that you said this morning?"

"Ah, that thing... I told you a little white lie to get you to go to the doctor with Saya."

"Are you serious?" Mika said nonchalantly as he started climbing the stairs to his room to put his bag away.

"Yes, I am. What did the doctor say?"

"Nothing important, just the same as before," Mika's voice echoed from upstairs as he called back.

"I wish sweet little Saya was here too..." Mika's grandmother let out a deep sigh.

After having dinner prepared by his grandmother and seeing her off, Mika spent the evening checking his website and managing orders.

"Orders have piled up; it's going to take a while to deliver all these,"

Days had passed, Mika was busy delivering the orders. Finally, he started earning some money from his business. He hadn't spoken to Saya in these two days. Saya's drawing tablet was still at his place.

Should I ask about it? I decided to inquire, thinking it wouldn't bad idea so may be I can text Saya on his phone.

"Hey Saya, just a reminder that your drawing tablet is still with us. Do you want me to bring it, or would you like to come and pick it up?" he wrote.

After a few hours, he received a response from Saya. While waiting for the reply, Mika's mind was filled with questions.

Why did Kota say that? What could be the underlying reason?

"Yes, I forgot it there, sorry. I can't come to pick it up right now. Also, I'm not at home, so could it stay with you a bit longer?" she replied.

Not at home and can't come for a while, huh?

"Sure, no problem," he responded to her message.

"Thanks, I won't be able to come to your place for a while," she added.

Mika started to contemplate, questioning whether a particular reason hindered her from coming.

"No worries, you can come and get it whenever you want," he replied, thinking that response was better and less intrusive.

Several days went by, but Mika didn't hear from Saya or receive any surprise visits from her. He had set up a system for the orders on his website, so he no longer needed to personally deliver the products. He had agreed with a courier company, and they were handling the deliveries in the mornings.

Despite his busy schedule, he occasionally found himself pondering the concept of "not wanting" as Kota had suggested.

Mika attempted to test his feelings of not wanting by conducting small experiments, but he couldn't feel anything different in any of these attempts.

One morning during his regular walk, he noticed the signs of the approaching summer through the chirping of birds and the gentle breeze. He was jogging at a moderate pace in the park as usual. Since it was the weekend, the park was more crowded than usual.

While running, he observed his surroundings. Couples holding hands, elderly people feeding birds, and others walking their dogs... the park was full of life.

"9800 steps. Not bad, I'll reach 10.000 before getting home," he thought.

He turned and started making his way back home. As he was leaving the park, he noticed Saya walking on the opposite street. She was accompanied by a boy, both of them dressed casually.

They were heading in the opposite direction from where Mika stood. He stood still and watched them for a while. Saya occasionally laughed, looking happy and smiling at the boy. At first, Mika wasn't completely sure if it was Saya. He observed them until Saya and the boy walked away. Indeed, it was Saya.

So, she had a boyfriend... She could have told me from the beginning,

At that moment, the words of the doctor echoed in his mind:

"Conduct small tests about things you don't want, try to notice or think about what bothers you." These words were resonating in his head.

I think, well, I'm not sure, I don't know what's happening, but I think I really don't want this...
