Chapter 6:

Peace Is… A Lie!

Bodyguard Girlfriend

Kyoka Yamasaki walks through the halls as the other students wince at her. It never bothered her, on the contrary, she likes it. She feels that she is respected like that, and for a good part of her school life, she dedicated herself to the Student Council because she always liked things in order and in the right places, which she thought was right, and that left her alone. She is very organized and methodical, perhaps because of this, she got this position.

But something different this year was coming, she knew that one day the storm would come, but she didn't imagine it would be born so close. And all this predicted chaos has a name: Yara.

Yara and Kyoka have known each other since they were kids because of their parents. Even though they lived far apart throughout their childhood, she never liked being around Yara with all her frenetic and unbridled energy. She always got them both in trouble.

Yara always wanted to play with Kyoka.

Kyoka always wanted distance from Yara.

When Yara moved to Japan, Kyoka saw that she couldn't change the facts and understood the circumstances, even though she didn't like it. What comforted her was that Yara went to study at another school, so at least part of her life would have peace.

Years later, Yara changed schools. Deep down, Kyoka felt that this would happen sooner or later.

The way of speaking, the way of dressing, the way of acting. Absolutely everything was a nuisance to her eyes... But why?

“Yamasaki-sama, that student is wearing the female uniform today. How did you manage to convince her?”

“That I can't tell you. Just know that I did it.”

Kyoka is making a serene expression while sitting on the sofa in the Student Council room with another member of the team who was looking at the window.

“Look that, she even looked good in that uniform. It's better this way. You could teach her to behave better t...”

“Ichigo…”

Kyoka interrupts her, preventing her from finishing what she was going to say.

“How are the clubs doing? The first week is coming to an end, and I still haven't received a report from all of them.”

“Ah... It's just... Some are still waiting to accept more members.”

“It's the beginning of the school term, there's still time to get members. I just need to know how many clubs are left.”

“Yes. I'll see about it right now.”

“Thanks.”

Kyoka goes towards the window and watches Yugo and Yara. She wonders what Yara is up to with him and decides to watch them from afar to protect the school. Yamasaki likes to walk around the school to see how things are going.

She walks down the hall, watches Yugo, and decides to talk to him.

“Yugo Sosuke. I want to speak with you.”

“Ah… Ya-Yamasaki-sama… Alright”

“Let's go outside.”

The two are in the outside area of the school to talk. But Kyoka is silent for a while, looking at Yugo as he becomes apprehensive and his hands are sweaty. He has no idea what she's going to say, and the anticipation is agonizing.

“I want to know what Yara is doing to you.”

“Yara?! N-Nothing. We only study in the same class.”

“Then you won't tell… I know Yara can be a nuisance at times. I suspect what she might be doing.”

“She's not… Bothering me. Don't worry. B-But how do you know her?”

“We have known each other for a long time.”

Kyoka approaches Yugo, who lowers his head, avoiding direct contact.

“Sosuke, if something happens, I want you to tell me. Just like last year.”

Yugo sees the Student Council President leaving, he wants to deny Yara's plan anyway. Even he doesn't know very well how it will be, even after that conversation they had.

As Yamasaki walked back to the Student Council room, she couldn't stop wondering what was going on and was determined to find out.

At the end of the day, Kyoka decides to stay late at school to review some reports and hears a knock on the door, receiving an unexpected visitor.

“Kyokaaa! Can I come in?”

Already knowing who was, she lets her in.

“Hi Kyoka. Shall we go together?”

“Yara, I'm busy right now. I can not go out.”

“Okay, I wait. It won't take long, will it?”

“No, but I'm going to do this job very slowly to make you bored.”

“Hahaha! You're awful.”

“I see you are wearing the female uniform. Are you used to it yet?”

“No, that's still weird, but I'm not going to fight about it. What is your mother going to prepare for dinner? I'm starving.”

Kyoka stops taking notes and looks directly at Yara.

“You will not have dinner at my house again.”

“Aaah! I haven't eaten there in a long time.”

“That was last week!”

“It's a long time!“

An idea then popped into Yamasaki's head, and so she decided to make Yara an offer. She gets up from where she was working and sits down on the couch across from Yara to get that doubt out of her head.

“Since you want to go over there so badly, I'll ask you a question: what do you have with Yugo Sosuke?”

Yara didn't expect this question from Kyoka and got a little nervous before answering, she can't figure out her plan because she knows it will be messed up. Yara looked to the side and began to speak.

“It's nothing. We are becoming friends.”

“Friends? With Sosuke? I bet you suck all the energy out of him.”

“He doesn't last long.”

“I'm sure so. Yara, I don't want you to get in trouble here at my school.”

“Did you really own this place?”

“I'm serious. What you did at the other school cannot be repeated here.”

Yara makes a serious face and looks at the coffee table in front of her.

“That wasn't my fault.”

“Even if you’re not, you attract that kind of situation.”

“You know I can't change that.”

Kyoka gets up and gathers the report papers she was preparing.

“Okay, let's go home. I'm hungry too.”

“It won’t be a problem for you if they see you leaving with me?”

“They already saw me running after you. Sooner or later, they would know we met.”

A very affectionate, tight, and sudden hug warms Kyoka in such a way that it makes her scared and gives her the feeling that, like Yugo, her energy is also being sucked by Yara, but she maintains a serious posture and does not hug her back.

“Awnt, Kyokyo! I adore you, even forcing myself to wear a skirt.”

“Don't call me that. And you can stop hugging me now.”

“Awnt! You're like my big sister, even though we're the same age.”

The two walk together on the way back home. Despite being a closed person and even sounding a little cold, Kyoka has feelings for Yara. Kyoka may not want to admit it, but Yara is her childhood friend.

She is silent, just listening to Yara tell her stories.

“Can I at least call you Kyokyo outside of school?”

“No.”

Kyoka already saw how her future will be at the school, that doesn't seem to be very good. Her past years will never come back, and she keeps thinking:

“Peace is… A lie!”
