Chapter 1:

How I met you.

32 Reasons To Live

My name is, well it's not important. What is important is Ishimoto Rie. We will refer to her as Rie. Rie was a person in my life. To be clear we were not friends. Never once have I or Rie ever referred to ourselves as friends. Also, I was not romantically interested in Rie. Our relationship with each other, well there's no word for it. It was a relationship created for one purpose, we will get to that later.

So first I'll tell a little about me. My name is not important. But, what is important is certain trait I have. I am interested in people. I have always been interested in other people's lives. My life on the other hand wasn't that interesting so I did not care for it. Back to my intrest though. I always take the chance to talk to other people. I noticed people love to talk about themselves more than anything else. I am fine with someone talking exclusively about them selves in a conversation.

A while back though I noticed something. Some people were becoming less interesting. Why was that? Some people were just more interesting. Some of the more interesting people I've talked to are those with complicated situations. When I say complicated I refer to things that not everyone goes through. For example cancer patients, war veterans, survivors of horrible situations. These people have been through alot of horrible things but they are so interesting to me.

Now we'll talk about my job. I have a part time job as a interviewer. I work for the local news paper and news station. I have met alot of interesting people. But none of them interested me as much as her.

Who was she? Well her name was Rie. The first time I met her was July 28th. I was walking home from work since school was out. I had just finished interviewing some big-time youtuber. I walked across a bridge. It was a large bridge, probably 150 feet above the river. I had been walking until I saw a girl.

She seemed to be similar to my age. She was standing on the railing with her shoes off. Her shoes were blue with yellow stripes on the side.

"What are you doing up there?", I asked. I asked in a monotone voice as I wasn't working so I didn't have to use my interviewing voice.

"Don't try to stop me! I'll jump", the girl said. She had tears running down her cheeks.

"I won't try to stop you. After all it's your life, therefore you can choose to live or die", I said. I do care about peoples lives, but I didn't know this girl.

"If you're not gonna stop me why are you talking to me", she asked.

"I have an intrest in other people and what their going through. I just wanted to talk", I said staring into her eyes. Her eyes were brown.

"We can talk from here so stay back", the girl said. She was still crying but she seemed calm.

"We could, or we could go to a restaurant and talk about it while I eat dinner", I said. I was hungry and interested in this girl, so why not kill two birds with one stone.

"So you can stop me, no way, I want to... I'm choosing to do this", the girl said.

"The bridge isn't going anywhere and I won't call the authorities. Like I said I just want to talk." This wasn't a lie or an elaborate way to stop her from making her choice. I was just interested.

"You swear you won't stop me after", she said.

"If you still want to after, your free to do so", I said.

"Swear on your honor as a man", the girl said.

"I (name that doesn't matter) swear on my honor and my life that I will not try to stop you after we speak", I said raising my right hand. I knew I shouldn't let this girl die, but once again it's her choice.

"Alright I'm coming down", she said.

The girl was wearing black socks. As she went to get down she slipped probably because her socks. She fell onto the sidewalk. She didn't fall hard enough to get hurt badly maybe just a scratch and buried.

She started crying. I helped her up.

  "Are you hurt?" I asked.

"I thought I was going to die", she said in between tears. This girl was confusing. She wanted to die but cried when she thought she was going to die. I was very interested.

"Come on", let's go find a place to eat and talk.

The girl followed me. Right before we walked of the bridge I saw across it. Through the passing cats and on the otherside I saw a person recording me with a cell phone. I didn't think much of it.

The girl and I walked for a couple minutes before I found a small family-owned restaurant. The girl hadn't spoke to me since we had got off the bridge.

When I looked at her one thought crossed my mind after another. I concluded that this girl probably didn't want to kill herself. Based on our encounter she probably intended on it, but didn't want to. I'm not sure yet but I'd like to find out as she is quite interesting.
