Chapter 5: Reborn

“The hell do you mean our lesson begins now?” Tenshi asked.

“Isn’t it obvious? Get your butts out there.”

She pointed to the outside as she said those words.

Sighing, we both steadily marched outside the hideout.

We glanced from left to right, analyzing the area around us. Surely enough, our fears were brought to reality. The two of us were standing in the middle of the arctic.

Still standing in the hideout behind us, Rin gave us a task that would shape our very destiny.

“Using your Hoshi, you two will keep a constant body temperature and survive out here until midnight!”

We stood in a moment of silence. There was just absolutely no way we heard her right. Until midnight? There was just no possible way.

“My guy we don't even know how to use the damn thing”, I told her.

She thought to herself for a second.

“... Well, figure it out!”

Then she slammed the door shut.

Before we had a chance to bang the door open, a thick layer of hoshi trapped the hideout and emitted a small shockwave. The shockwave blew Tenshi and I away from the door and off our feet.

The hideout continued discharging bursts of waves, as if it were telling us we couldn’t get any closer.

We picked ourselves up from the snow and dusted off the snow that latched onto our bodysuits.

“So what do we do now?” I asked.

“The only thing we can do. We miraculously survive until she opens the door back.”

“And how are we supposed to do that?”

“No idea. If this was some anime, we would sit on those hills and meditate or something. Clearing our minds from all thoughts or something cliche like that.”

We both looked at each other. Without even sharing words, we knew exactly what the other was trying to communicate.
