Chapter 12:

Start of Something New

Strawberries, Cherries, and an Angel's Kiss in Spring

We both looked at each other still in shock at the event that just took place. I, at first wasn’t even aware of the kiss just the fact that I’m lucky my teeth are still attached to my gums and my nose wasn’t bleeding! Once I composed myself over the fact the following event of us kissing did take place I looked over at Ichigo.

“What the hell just happened? I was on that… and then I was… did my… did I…?” she paced in a small circle mumbling to herself, one hand resting on her hip and the other touching her lips.

Her back to towards me but I could tell she was spiralling, pushing myself off her bed, I stood behind her.

“Ichigo,” I called out.

She froze and dropped her hands to her sides; she clenched and unclenched her fists before dropping her shoulders and slumping forward a little.

“Hey,” I held her shoulders and turned her towards me.

What I saw next broke my heart as tears formed in her eyes, her nose was a light pink colour.

“Ichigo wha…?”

Before I could form a complete sentence, she interrupted me.

“I’m so sorry,” she looked down.

“Huh…?” I looked at her, my eyes wide and mouth gaped.

“I’m sorry,” she sobbed.

She sniffed and wiped her nose with the back of her hand before continuing, “I-I know y-you probably didn’t want to do that e-especially with me, and I d-didn’t think that I might fall on you and I especially didn’t think… that… would happen.”

“Ichigo,” I tried to stop her but she continued.

“I did a stupid thing and I don’t want you to feel awkward about it, I know my sister didn’t make things easier, it was all my fault,” she looked down, stepping back.

“Hang on,” I took a step forward.

“If it makes you feel better, we can forget that ever happened,” she told me which made me stop in my tracks.

“I know you probably don’t want to talk to me anymore, but I at least had to say sorry, see if there’s still a chance, we can be friends,”

I took slow steps towards her while trying to figure out where I came across in such a way as to make her think I wouldn’t want to be friends with her.

“Ichigo,” I took a step closer to her.

“I don’t want to lose you because I did something stupid,” she sniffed.

“Ichigo,” I cupped her face and made her look at me.

The realisation hit me that I’m in love with a really cute but pretty stupid girl. If she thinks that I’m going to leave or stop being friends with her because of that then she has another thing coming.

Her face was still in my hands as I leaned in closing my eyes, I met her lips with mine. I kissed her softly before I felt her kiss me back a few seconds later. My left hand dropped to her waist while I felt her hands on my chest.

We pulled apart and joined foreheads, panting a little. I heard Ichigo chuckle a little after she realised what just happened and hearing that I couldn’t help but smile.

“You were saying?” I asked with a laugh.

“That… um… so we’re good?” she asked.

Seriously?

I pulled away and moved the few strands of hair away from her face before looking deep into her eyes.

“Wasn’t that kiss enough? Or do I need to answer your question in another way?” I smirked, making a joke to lighten the mood.

Ichigo blushed before shaking her head, “No.”

She bit her bottom lip lightly before continuing, “Would you believe me if I said that was my first kiss?”

Not going to lie that did surprise me a little.

“You’re joking right?” I asked.

She shook her head, “I’ve been in relationships before but never have I been comfortable enough to kiss someone.”

We were sitting on her bed now and I looked to the side at her, her hands were in her lap and I held the one that was more to my side.

“Either they were assholes or you were waiting for me,” I winked.

She laughed, “Both.”

“Well then they didn’t deserve you,” I gently squeezed the hand I was holding.

She looked up at me and smiled, “What about you? Ever been in a relationship?”

“Oh loads,” I chuckled and pinched the bridge of my nose before turning my gaze back at her.

Ichigo gave me a look before I realised what I said.

“Oh no! I don’t mean loads like ‘I’m a player’ loads I just meant a few,” I shrugged.

Ichigo gave me a stern look for a few seconds before bursting out laughing, “You’re so cute! I knew what you meant I was just messing with you.”

I narrowed my eyes at her, “You’re a little shit you know that?”

“Yeah, but you still love me,” she laughed.

“Damn right, I do,” I reply lightning-quick.

“You mean that?” she asked, earnestly.

I nodded, “I mean that.”

I chuckled at the timing; I had planned everything out but I guess destiny had other plans.

“What?” Ichigo asked, smiling.

“Nothing, it’s just I had planned to confess my feelings next week,” I facepalmed with a laugh.

“Why next week?” Ichigo asked, confused.

“Some princess’s birthday,” I winked.

Ichigo blushed but looked surprised, “How did you know it was my birthday?”

“When I followed you on Social Media you posted a birthday picture and it had the date so that’s how I figured it out,” I smiled.

“Oh,” she smiled.

“But did you just call me a Princess? she raised an eyebrow.

“Yes,” I grinned.

“I like it but you’ve never called me that,” she blushed a deep red colour.

“I was keeping it until it had maximum effect,” I smirked.

“So, is that what you’re calling me from now on?” she asked, still blushing but she looked down, diverting her gaze away from mine.

“No,” I shook my head.

“Oh,” she looked disappointed.

“I won’t always call you that because it’ll lose its value but I will call you that occasionally,” I winked.

She smiled at that. We were silent for a few seconds before she spoke again.

“So…” she played with my hand.

“So…?” I asked.

“Does this mean I’m your… girlfriend?” she asked looking into my eyes searching for answers.

I let out a loud laugh but before I could reply the door swung open.

“For someone who reads romance books you’re pretty stupid aren’t ya? Of course, you’re his girlfriend!” Sara announced.

“Were you listening to our conversation the whole time?” Ichigo asked, both irritated and embarrassed.

“No just some of it” she shrugged.

“Sara! How many times have I told you it’s rude to eavesdrop!” Ichigo told her, sternly.

“I swear she does justice to her name; she is a princess!” Ichigo whispered to me.

I chuckled but stayed silent during the conversation between the sisters.

“I am!” Sara replied, sassily.

“Anyways I just came here to tell you that Mum called saying that they’ll be coming early, so quickly finish your… whatever you were doing with your boy here and tell him to go!”

Ichigo abruptly stood up, “What?!”

She quickly looked at me before looking at Sara.

“Time?” she asked.

“20 minutes give or take,” she shrugged before going again.

“You have to go!” she told me.

I quickly nodded; I didn’t want to face her parents given their history with my parents. I sprang up and made sure I had all my things making sure I didn’t accidentally leave anything behind.

I was ready to leave within 5 minutes which meant that Ichigo’s parents would arrive in 5 minutes. I dropped a text to my driver so said he’ll be there within 10 minutes, but just to be sure I told him I’ll meet him up the road.

Ichigo walked me to the front door and looked nervous, to be honest, I was scared myself. I could feel my heartbeat increase by the minute.

“Text me when you’re home,” she smiled.

“I will,” I nodded.

“I’m sorry about, Sara. She can be quite bratty but she means well, I promise,” Ichigo rubbed the back of her neck.

“It’s okay, besides she seems cool, I like her,” I chuckled.

Ichigo laughed, “Yeah, well you don’t have to live with her, she practically gets away with murder and…” She took a deep breath.

“I’m sorry I’m not going to bore you with a sob story, anyways I’m happy you were able to come today,” she grinned.

I smiled back, “Me too, besides I arrived single leaving taken.”

Ichigo blushed and we both stood there in a comfortable silence before my phone pinged, it was time for me to go.

“I’ll see you soon,” I told her as I walked out of her house and down the three steps in front of the main door.

Ichigo opened her mouth to speak and looked left and right before running down the steps, I looked at her confused before she pressed her lips against my cheek, she pulled away a light pink tint to her face before she ran inside and shut the door.

I laughed before making my way to the car, we drove off and I looked out my window to see a couple, who I assume were Ichigo’s parents walk into the house. I sighed in relief. Just then my phone pinged.

“My parents just arrived and didn’t see you thank God!

I know you’re probably wondering why I told you to leave so abruptly

I’ll explain everything

Do you want to meet me at the ice cream shop tomorrow?”

“It’s okay, Ichigo

And sure, I’ve been craving something Strawberry after that kiss” *winky*

“Great!

And I’ve been craving something Cherry” *smirky*

I laughed and put my phone away, I wonder what Ichigo has to tell me. Maybe it’s something I already know or perhaps there’s more to the story…
