Chapter 11:

3.0 - Magic Test: Day two

Daydream

The air was scorching hot, with sweat streaming down my face. I gripped my wand tightly, infusing it with mana. Heat, redness, and destruction swirled in my mind. With a twist of my wrist, I traced a vibrant vermilion color red circled in the air. Up, down, side to side, the wand moved within a dance of the wrist.

"Fireball," I whispered. Seven seconds had elapsed since I began.

A flame, about a tenth the size of the one that Miss Silica’s shattered Master Grignard's wooden door. The fire materialized and shot forward, soaring fifteen feet before crashing into the ground. The target aimed at was twenty feet away and five feet above the ground.

"Damn," I muttered, wiping the sweat off my forehead, and leaning on my knees, breathing heavily. "It needs more power."

Wack! Blackness shifted in my mind. A small shock coursed through my body and mind, jolting me awake. I found myself gazing out the window at the open soccer field. Returning to my senses, I realized I was back in class. A chalk stick was on the desk. I must have drifted off and someone threw some chalk at me when I was practicing in the new world, but something abruptly pulled me back.

"Hey, Mackenzie, want to join us today?" my English teacher said to me with a disappointed tone. I had been lost in my thoughts, staring out the window for the past half-hour. My English teacher was an older man in his mid-50s. He didn't pay much attention to me since I had excelled in my English tests the previous year. "Read where we left off."

I looked down at my untouched book from the desk and stood up. Luckily Kendra was paying attention and slid her textbook to me and pointed to the top of page 12. Clearing my throat, I began to speak.

"The ravaged man approached the…" I spook, with fluid perfection of every word of the human tongue in English.

"Well done, as perfect as always pay attention next time, Kendra, continue where he left off."

Unlike me, Kendra struggled with English. She reluctantly stood up and started to read, taking what felt like an eternity to finish a small paragraph. It would have taken me just 20 seconds to read it. My grandfather came to Japan and married so I was quarter English you could say with the other being Japanese. I’ve been learning and speaking English ever since I began speaking Japanese. It was child play for this English class, unlike others.

It was the first time I realized that I could transfer my mind into the new world while still being awake in this one. I needed to be cautious not to do anything reckless during class, when in the new world. It was time to start paying attention to my lessons, or I would quickly fall behind.

The bell rang, signaling the end of the day. "Well, I guess it's time," I sighed. "Let's head to the student council."

"At least we don't have to pick a club anymore," Kendra chuckled.

We made our way toward the student council club room, I decided to knock before going in. Stepping inside, I was taken aback by the room's size. It was much larger than I had imagined. There were two couches with a coffee table in the middle, along with four desks two on each side of the entrance, one in the back, and another on the back left. It was undoubtedly the most impressive room in the entire school. The president was already sitting at the desk in the back.

"Welcome to the student council,". We settled down on the couches, and Akari walked over and sat across from us on the other couch. "Well, what do you guys think of the club room? I used a charm spell on the principal last year to increase our budget.”

The student council budget must be 10x greater than any other club or the entire school’s budget for that matter. It was an impressive room and nicest furniture, but I wasn’t interested in that. I had other things on my mind. Rynn

"Hey, Prez, can you enter the new world just by thinking about it?"

"Yes, it takes me about two to five minutes to enter Rynn."

"What happens to my body in the real world and my body in Rynn if I get interrupted in the real world? Today, I felt a very unpleasant shock when Mr. Drew threw his chalk when I was training."

"Haha, Mr. Drew is a funny teacher, but it's best not to get interrupted in class," she smirked. "I call it 'fuzzled,' a form of static and shock. I've never seen anyone wake up in Rynn due to an interruption, so I can't say for sure. But I imagine it's similar to abruptly waking up to your alarm in the morning. “Just then, a knock came on the door, and a younger female student entered.

"Hello, Tina," the president greeted her.

"Hi, big sister," running in and sitting next to the president.

"This is my younger sister, Tina. You met her as the shrine maiden in Rynn last night. She will be the newest member of the student council, serving as the freshman representative."

The girl with the fox ears and kimono appeared before us. "This is Mackenzie and Kendra," the president introduced us. "This is the guy who sent his entire class to Rynn.

"She smirked and greeted us, "Hello, senpai. Call me Tina. We'll be spending a lot of time together."

"Okay, Tina. Call me Mackenzie," I responded.

"Hello, you can call me Kendra,"

"Mackenzie and Kendra have also just joined the student council. Meet the new vice president, Mackenzie, and Kendra, who will be the treasurer,"

Tina seemed to have a similar personality to the president. She was lively, cheerful, full of energy, and polite to everyone. It was no wonder she was also loved by all the teachers.
