Chapter 18:

5.0 - Housekeeping

Daydream

The lunch bell rang, signaling a much-needed break from classes. I was exhausted from trying to write a speech and didn’t pay attention to anything all morning. We gathered our homemade lunches and made our way to the student council office. As we sat down and began to eat, discussing our plans for the upcoming assembly, my nervousness started to build. Kendra was scratching her arm again.

“Is your arm itchy?”

She lifted her sleeve and there was a red scar on her upper arm where the goblin scratched her last night. Tina was nearby and treated her healing magic and it soon disappeared. The other world is scary if it can transform wounds from that world to this world.

“Thanks, Tina.” Tina was a healing shrine maiden; she is Silica or president’s younger sister and the freshmen representative on the student council. Silica said She was the first person she summoned to the other world. I haven’t gotten much time to talk to her, but she seemed like a good hearted girl.

President Midoriya read over my speech, and she ripped it up after reading it. My hard work all morning was all for naught. I was doomed!

With our lunch finished, we moved on to setting up the gymnasium for the school assembly. We had an hour until the scheduled start time of 2 pm, and luckily, we were allowed to skip our afternoon classes to help with the preparations. We worked diligently, arranging chairs, setting up a stage, and making sure everything was in order.

As the time drew near, the gymnasium started to fill up with students. The buzz of anticipation filled the air, and we couldn't help but feel a mix of nerves and anxiety.

Finally, the principal of the school, Mr. Clover, took the stage and began the ceremony. He delivered a short speech, welcoming everyone and setting the tone for the assembly. Then, he called upon the school president Midori to give her speech.

President Midoria gracefully stepped forward, her presence immediately captivating the entire audience. With every step she took, it felt as if a spell had been cast upon the crowd. Her beauty was undeniable, radiating a mesmerizing aura that made it impossible for anyone to look away. Well, she was using magic so that helps, she was using a small charm area specifically that surrounded herself and well put the whole school under her spell.

As she began to speak, her words flowed effortlessly, carrying a sense of purpose and inspiration. Her voice resonated with confidence and authority, capturing the hearts and minds of everyone in the room. The students and staff alike were enthralled by her eloquence and poise, hanging onto her every word. Even though they were under her spell. It was as if time stood still, with all eyes locked on Akari. The atmosphere in the gymnasium was electric as if an invisible thread connected her to every person in the audience. They listened intently, completely engrossed in her speech, feeling the impact of her words deep within their souls. If she put any more magic into her charm spell, she might have summoned the entire school to the realm of Rynn. Man, that would be so much work if it happened.

Her ability to command the stage was unparalleled, and the crowd couldn't help but be captivated by her presence. Every gesture, every expression, seemed to hold a magnetic charm that drew everyone closer. It was a testament to her natural charisma and the magnetic pull of her beauty. “Thank you, President Midori, next up is Vice President. Mackenzie (change to the last name).

Kendra

Kenzie was sure nervous when I picked him up this morning to walk to school. This happens every time he has to a presentation in front of the class, not much less than the full student body and faculty. Well to give him so much effort Silica didn’t tell him about it till last night and he didn’t write anything down for his speech. He didn’t pay attention to any of his classes this morning, he was way too busy to write a small speech.

During our lunch break, Silica threw his speech away and made him write a brand-new one. He approached the microphone, but it was evident that he was feeling nervous. His voice mumbled trembled slightly, and he struggled to find the right words. The speech seemed to stumble and falter, creating an unintentionally comedic effect. Some students exchanged sympathetic glances, recognizing his struggle. He did read every line, which last time he did a speech he skipped a paragraph. The look on his face, when he finished his face was full of relief even though he bombed it. It could have gone much worse.

Mackenzie

“Thank you, Vise President Mackenzie (last name), next up is freshmen representative Tina Midori” As I stepped down from the stage, I couldn't help but reflect on the contrasting performances of President Midori, While President delivered a stellar speech. I did a terrible job, if only I had a charm spell and could enchant the whole school, that would boost my confidence. I could see people staring at me and whispering. Why did pres pick him or his is speech pathic, ran across my mind. To me, it was a reminder that not everyone is naturally adept at addressing large audiences. It’s a skill and a talent that not everyone has.

After an hour of speeches and performances, the school assembly finally came to an end. I felt a wave of exhaustion wash over me, realizing how draining the whole experience had been. The members of the student council still had business to attend to, as students approached us with questions and concerns. Many of them praised President Midori for her inspiring speech, while a few offered words of encouragement to me but I acknowledged the defeat. I’m not as popular or gifted as Akari.

I stood there, shaking hands and bowing to people, holding a small sense of pride I had for being part of the student council. It was evident that despite the ups and downs, we had successfully organized a memorable assembly for the school community.

Once the gymnasium was cleared, we made our way back to the student council office. We sat down, taking a moment to catch our breath and reflect on the day's events. It had been a whirlwind, filled with nervousness, laughter, and a sense of accomplishment. We knew that our work as the student council was just beginning, and there were many more challenges and experiences ahead.
