Chapter 30:

10.0 - The Final Exams and School trip

Daydream

Student council duty is easier than expected. Except the time dealing with student and factory people problems, planning events, and showing up to all events and speeches. The only good thing is the summer week is paid vacation by the school. Which isn’t for another 4 months or so. Joining the student council was not by choice I tell you that. It was forced onto me by Silica or President Midoria, as I had to take responsibility for taking my full class into the realm of the gods. President Midoria was born naturally speaking to people and handling problems unlike me, why did I have to join the student council?

Kendra happened to join at the same time and is the new treasure. To be brunt Kendra is extremely bad with math, being the treasure of the school was a terrible idea. Back in middle school, we would have basic multiplication competitions in reviewing math, which we did back in elementary, and in the end, she got all of them wrong. We had a few options, and we went with option 1: We swapped roles, I took over the treasurer and gave budget reports, and where Kendra took over my organizing events; however, I took and presented all her reports.

In addition, as the first term of school ended, the looming presence of final exams weighed heavily upon us. Our days were spent studying in the student council room and the great hall, with the assistance of our science and chemistry teacher, Dr. Yuuki. Her guidance proved invaluable as we delved into our private tutoring before waking up back on earth. Time seemed to fly by as we immersed ourselves in academic pursuits during the day and planned for our adventures in the god realm during the afternoon and evening. We took or got dragged into extra study lessons as Mrs. Yuki, made study questions for all the science tests. We had nothing better to do when sitting around 6 am waiting for our alarm clocks to wake us up.

Soon enough, we found ourselves seated in classrooms, writing our final exams. During the English exam, I noticed Kendra struggling, her worst subject and my best. her face was sweating and very nervous. In a moment of inspiration, I gently touched her knee, initiating a telepathic connection between us. Chance, this was the first time I ever connected to Kendra as I only communicated to Silica through eye contact. I wasn't able to connect to Kendra, as a theory I thought she didn't have enough mana to channel. However, I was able to connect with the contact. Through this silent communication, I shared my knowledge and helped her navigate through some of the challenging questions. While I remained affected by the guilt of assisting her, I could sense a hint of unease in her eyes as well. Knowing the guilt of assisting. I did the same for the math exam as well.

Yuki-sensei burst into the classroom, her lab coat billowing behind her, clutching a stack of scrolls. She swiftly unrolled them and affixed them to the wall. The scrolls displayed the following: listing grades and subjects.

Mackenzie: Math - 95%, Science - 98%, English - 100%, Japanese - 65%, Social Studies - 80%. Kendra: Math - 88%, Science - 98%, English - 92%, Japanese - 90%, Social Studies - 85%.

I should have asked Kendra to cheat on my Japanese as well.

"Good morning, class!" she exclaimed with a wide grin, scanning the room. "Congratulations on achieving a new class record with these outstanding scores! My bonus has now increased. Now, let's get back to the topic at hand. We have a field trip coming up next week. The Grade 11 classes will be embarking on a camping excursion. Here's a list of items you should bring: two days of cloths, running shoes, rain gear if needed. We will provide tent, food, and information booklets.”
