Chapter 17:

Ramona Panini and the revelation of the wind

Wind Sniper 0

I cried as Ramona mockingly rubbed my now hairless head. That evil bitch had sadistically made me just as hairless as Himesaki.

“Why did you WAX off my eyelashes!?” I cried.

“Why not? It’s faster than plucking them,” she sneered.

I got up and put my shirt back on as Ramona gave me a serious look.

“There’s trouble at your school. Apparently, a mummified jackal and a one-eyed guy with a railgun have taken over the school. Luckilly it seems everyone' was evacuated long before their arrival thanks to the whole thing between you and Kasegawa. However, I can't contact Sakura. She's probably trapped within the school according to her GPS signal.”

My heart began beating quickly as I struggled to process what I heard.

“What!? Mummy!? Rail- No… it can’t be. I killed him,” I trembled as I came to the startling revelation.

Ouga was alive.

I immediately grabbed my rifle and ran out of the warehouse.

“That idiot, it’ll take an hour to get there on foot," Ramona growled as she headed for the car.

                                                                             …

Ouga snickered as he stood in the courtyard.

“Seriously, what’s with all the government agents. I thought this was a school not a military camp,” Ouga sneered as he killed his attacker.

“I can sense a lone girl in the school,” the mummified jackal stated.

“*Tch*! Then he’s not here. Well, guess we’ll grab the girl. It might be Zerou’s lover.

                                                                          …

Sakura howled in pain as a wall of sand sent her crashing through the walls of the school.

“Huh? She’s that transfer student that was with Zerou,” Ouga stated as he pulled off Sakura’s gag.

“OUGA!? How!? _! You’re with HIM!? Sakura screamed as the mummy gazed down at her.

“Sakura Motecarlo. She’s part of the Ramona faction within Familiga Panini,” Jackal explained.

“Oh yeah, I was informed that the familiga’s in disarray after the previous boss was killed. Don’t we have a guy in the mix,” Ouga asked.

“OUGA! What have you done!” I screamed as I pointed my rifle at him.

“Huh? Who- *Pft* EHKEKEHKEHKEHKEHKEH! You look like a freak Zerou!” Ouga laughed.

Even the mummy began laughing at me too. I took this as a chance to fire at them, only for my shots to be blocked by a wall of sand.

“HE CONTROLS SAND BLOW-MMPH!” Sakura attempted to shout before her mouth was sealed with sand.

“You’re no match for either of us now Zerou. We’re both power holders and can kill you with ease. Luckily, I want you to watch everyone you know, and love die before your eyes, so I’ll just disable you for now,” Ouga snickered.

“Kazerou-kun! What’s going on!?” Naname’s voice rang out.

To my horror, Naname was standing right behind me.

“Why are you- “

“EHKEHKEHKEH! PERFECT! Say goodbye to your girlfriend Zerou!” Ouga laughed as he fired his railgun through my chest.

Time began to slow as I saw the shot head towards Naname.

“SHIT! It hurt’s like hell. It’s non-fatal, but it hurts! NO! It’s gonna hit Naname and kill her. I have to save her. But how!? My shots can’t do it, my body can’t do it, hell nothing can do it! Is there any- “

I suddenly remembered the one thing that had been by my side longer than my rifle and Naname.

“WIND!”

A tornado of wind burst forth from my body blowing Naname down and saving her from certain death. The wind also dispersed the mummy’s sand and caused Sakura to fly in the air towards me. I held out my hand, hoping the wind would slow her fall, and it did. A small tornado appeared under her and ferried her to the ground.

“Kazerou,” Sakura said in bewilderment.

“*Tch* So you had dormant powers,” Ouga growled as he struggled to maintain his footing.

“Oi, we leave for now. He’s gonna retreat anyway. Don’t worry, I’ll pay him back in full for daring to oppose my sand,” the mummified jackal growled as he began retreating with Ouga.

I decided to do the same and took Sakura and Naname as far away as I could before my power gave out.

I managed to spot Ramona’s black sedan before I blacked out.

                                                                                  …

When I awoke, Naname’s tearful angry face was staring down at me.

“BAKA KAZEROU-KUN! BAKA!” she cried as she slapped me.

“Ah Naname, I- “

“WHAT WAS ALL THAT!? THERE WERE BLOODIED GUYS IN SUITS EVERYWHERE, THERE WAS SAND, WIND, IS THAT YOU’RE JOB!? WHAT HAVE YOU BEEN DOING!?” she tearfully demanded.

I sighed and decided to tell her everything.

She only appeared to get more and more upset as I told her everything.

When I finished, she punched me in the face.

“You lied to Naname. Naname thought you were a brave person. You’re worse than those bullies back then. Goodbye. Never speak to Naname ever again you criminal,” Naname cried as she ran out sobbing.

I too began sobbing as I curled up and closed my eyes.

“Damn it all! If only I never met that bitch Ramona!” I screamed.

A few minutes later, Ramona appeared.

“Looks like your girlfriend completely cut ties with you. Now you can focus on training- “

“SCREW YOU! I’M DONE! I DON’T CARE! NANAME’S GONE BECAUSE OF YOU, YOU BITCH! I HATE YOU!” I screamed as I charged out.

“OI! Don’t you dare run away!” she growled as she pulled out her gun.

I didn’t care if she pulled the trigger. I just kept running. I ran out of the building and looked around. Naname was nowhere in sight. I then decided to run home.

When I got home, an even more horrific sight awaited me. The sandy corpses of my mother and Erika were strewn about the yard.

“Ueheheheheheh! That’s what you get for defying my sand!” the mummified jackal’s voice rang out.

I looked up to see him and Ouga smirking as they stood on the roof of my house.

“What a good reaction! I can’t wait to see your face when I kill Naname,” Ouga laughed as he leapt away with the mummy.

Everyone I cared about was gone. All because that damn bitch kidnapped me.

As I was bawling my eyes out, Ramona appeared. To my shock, tears began rolling down her face as she dropped her gun and slowly walked up to me.

“No, I didn’t want this to happen. It wasn’t supposed to be like this!” she cried.

“BULLSHIT! THIS IS ALL BECAUSE YOU MESSED WITH MY LIFE! NANAME’S GONE, MY MOTHER AND ERIKA ARE DEAD, OUGA’S NOW A CRAZED MURDERER,A SANDY WIELDING JACKAL IS NOW AFTER ME, AND MY LIFE IS MESSED UP! ALL BECAUSE YOU DECIDED TO MESS WITH MY LIFE!” I roared.

“No, Kazerou was the only one N- I could trust.”

My anger subsided a bit. Ramona never called me by my full name before. It was always Zerou this, Zerou that.

“What do you mean!?” I demanded.

Ramona tearfully smiled as she began removing her contact lenses. She then undid her hair and ruffled it with her hands. Maroon hair dye rubbed off on her hands as strands of her now brunette hair began stubbornly sticking up. My face went pale as I recognized the woman before me. It was a woman I knew far too well, or so I thought.

“Naname?”
