Chapter 5:

Repunzel, her ordinary life

Not The Cinderella's Story

—Rapunzel's pov—

I wake up to another bright day, and I yawn while I stretch out my arms. I slowly open my eyes and I can smell a delicious smell, "it must be granny's must famous blueberry pie!" I quickly rush downstairs to the foyer, waiting for me is my granny holding one of her delicious classics. She makes the best homemade desserts ever! I give granny a smile and say, "Are you leaving again today?" I take out one narrow, wooden chair and softly plop down on it. I see my granny smiling, placing the blueberry pie down on the table, "Yes sweetie, I'm going back into town. I'll be back before midnight." Granny always has this raspy, soft voice, but she always seems so young for someone that is a granny. "Okay be careful!" She smiles at me, and with the snap of her fingers she changes into a young woman as she always does. Granny is old, really old, but she always puts this disguise whenever we're home. She always says it's too keep me safe—but from what? I sigh, realizing she didn't eat. "She's so pale it looks like she will faint if she goes outside, and her firery, red hair will get damaged, or take ablaze!" I pout, snapping my fingers for my fork to come to me. Granny worries me too much, first of all she goes out and never tells me what she does, and second of all she hides her appearance whenever she goes out, third of all we live in A TOWER. Now those are some red flags, but I love her so I will forgive her.. I dig into my pie, and stuff myself like there is no tomorrow. Well–you can never be so sure, right? After my stomach almost explodes from the amount of sweet and tart that pie was–I make sure to get ready to workout. The tower really isn't that small. It's quite big for looking so small. But I guess that's due to the magic, huh. The magic tower changes rooms, and sizes once you enter the foyer. For example- one might think "I really want to dance!" And poof! There's a room, that you can dance in, and when you exit the door you go back to the foyer! Therefore, my tower is quite big! It's very comfy! As I flee my way towards the door of the workout room I smile and pull my two

It's been 3 days. 3 days since I saw granny. I shouted out to the top of my lungs, "Where is she!" I'm soooo worried right now! All I've been doing these few days is just the usual get up, eat, clean, study, read, and go back to bed! Now I've almost ran out of food! I start hyperventilating, so I do what my granny usually does, and breathe in slowly and–scream. Yes, screaming is what she does— She told me that it helps get it all out….Well what am I supposed to do! "AHhhhHHHH!" She's strong of course! She taught me everything I know! So she should be fine right?! AHHHH but she would have told me sooner! I turn around and use my magic to grab me granny's cookbook. Why? Because when in doubt— eat sweets! I turn the smooth pages until my finger stops on her Madeleine recipe. She has always made the greatest of dishes, such a shame she's not here… I take a look at the instructions and get the tools ready. I wave my finger and poof! There's the Madeleines, all cooked and prepared! They look so soft and squishy. My mouth salivates. As I open my mouth to take a bite, I hear a big thud. My head turns to the opening of the tower, I creep towards it and quickly open the wooden doors that lead to the drop of the tower. I peep my head outside, and I look down. Confused, I use my magic again but to bring the basket up to me. As I look closer inside of the ruggeded, brown basket I see a teapot that surprisingly hasn't spilled over, some delicious looking cookies, and a thick book with a lock placed upon it. I don't see a key to this lock. I guess it's magic time again! I take the book by hand, while the basket still floating near me, moving along with my steps. I take another look at the book and it's intriguing lock. I place my finger on the lock and get to work... It took me 2 hours…2 whole hours to unlock that thing! This better be worth my time! Once I unlocked it the lock emitted a red smoke, "Must be a magic induced one–this person that has this book either is powerful, or incredibly rich," I whistled. I opened the book and find out–that there's nothing! This must have to do with that lock or something! I sigh heavily. "Why are people so rich.." As I sigh I place the basket on the table, and sluggishly rush to my room and plop down, and I immediately fall asleep, too tired to change. A couple of hours later I awaken with the sense that someones down the tower. I'm not usually able to sense things. But these people seem to be incredibly rude, and decided to be loud! I pout. I really didn't want to get up. But what if they knew what happened to my granny! No, I can't then! I can't go down if they know something about granny, what if they do something to her or to my beautiful face?! I suck it up, as the strong young lady I am! And pridefully get up and march over to the wooden doors, that rest right where a window would be. And then I hear something strange… a name they were shouting…my name. That made me even more wary. But I knew that this tower was quite popular among the locals…But how could they possibly know my name? This is so strange…and confusing. I quickly duck for them not to see me. I wait silently for a while, thinking of all possibilities if I were to reveal myself. After thinking for one last time I finally get the courage to get up and confront this person. I need answers, and this person… Must know something.. I place my hand on the floor, before getting up and stabilizing my stance. "Wait!" I called, worriedly. "There's a staircase in the back!"
