Chapter 6

Oh water, show me the way

After climbing down, I checked the condition of the girl.

Her fever has decreased, but she has yet to gain consciousness.

I worry for her dehydration and mine too.

There are some fruits in my spoils that I collected.

Even if they were poisonous, I have poison antidote also.

But the thing is the poison antidote here is not the general all poison cure potion that I expected it to be.

I will not take any risk until the last moment.

I get ready again, carry the girl in princess carry and sneakily start moving in north west, with reference to the sun as east.

Slowly walking I noticed some monkeys and dears in the forest at some distance, but they did not notice us.

I kept walking, hoping to not to run into any more monsters.

After about 20 minutes' walk we came upon a stream of water. I almost cried on seeing the clear flowing water.

Carefully checking the coast of the stream, I found that although there were some deer drinking water from the stream, there were no monsters around.

The stream was four to five meters wide and very shallow one, just enough to get submerged till my knees.

But the important thing was the water was very clean.

I learnt in the survival show I used to watch, that the flowing water is mostly safe to drink if not for the human intervention.

Since there does not seem to be anything like sewage disposal here, I can safely use this water.

I also made the girl drink water by opening her mouth and pouring the water after filling the empty HP recovery potion bottle with it.

Ofcourse I also filled my leather sacks and all empty bottles with clean water.

The potion bottle are very small and only hold 200ml of water but every drop counts.

The thing about item box is that, it seems empty bottles occupy same space as the filled ones so there was no worry of carrying extra load.

After that I found a safe spot near the river to rest.

The river has fishes in it but I donot have means to catch them. I laid the girl there and decided to check out the fruits I collected so far.

There are these three fruits here, and from the names and visual appearance they seem similar to ones I know from earth, except for the berry.

So I decided to take a little risk and eat the mango and grapes.

After washing those in river I decided to just eat them after cutting them with my knife.

There was no poison in them as my stomach did not feel weird after eating.

The fruit not only tasted just like those of my previous life but rather, since they were naturally grown without any fertilizers or pesticides they tasted much better.

Though some of them had worms in them.

Sadly, I cannot feed the girl though since she is still unconscious.

Replenishing my energy after eating, I got ready to move again.

I decided to move in direction of flowing water.

The stream here seems to flow quite fast, so I suppose we are towards the upstream here.

So I believe there may be some villages or cities downstream.

Hopefully the same one, which this girl belongs to. She has not woken up yet but her fever is down.

I started walking downstream while hiding in bushes that were growing along the stream.

After about half an hour of walking, the trees started decreasing and area was getting clear.

But right now, I am facing a huge problem.

In front of me about ten meters or so, there is giant panther with its two fangs protruding from its mouth.

Its black in color and is about two times the size of a lion.

The result of scan showed me that its not a named monster.

But still, its sharp claws and fangs can finish me in one strike.

Although it is only 3 year old, its still very large.

For now it doesn't seem like it has detected us.

I will wait to see, in which direction it goes after drinking water and then, move accordingly.

The panther stopped drinking water, looked around to check the surroundings and then started slowly walking in our direction.

Why? No!, don't come here please.

Go away you damn kitty.

Fine, I will go around you.

So I decided to walk towards the forest, away from the stream and circumvent around the panther.

The bushes are high enough to hide us while I crouch and move slowly.

Slowly I was going in the direction of forest , when suddenly howling of wolves started coming from the direction of forest.

The panther perked its ears and stopped moving.

It looked in direction of howling and pounced and ran in that direction.

The speed was so quick that I could barely follow it with my eyes.

If such a monster detected us, there was no chance of getting away from it.

Fighting it was also not possible. That monster was certain death for us.

Thinking that, a chill ran down my spine.

Even the red goblin was not that dangerous, in comparison to this.

It not only has speed but also power. Truly a scary monster.

After the panther was gone, I started moving again, downstream and this time even more cautiously.

Between walking I took breaks a few times.

Drank some water. Made the girl drink some by supporting her back and pushing the water bottle to her mouth.

Water seems to be going inside but I hope its not going in the wrong pipe.

She doesn't choke from it and her breathing is ok.

So I guess its going in stomach. I want to give her some food, if only she wakes up.

We continued our journey for about two hours including some break time.

During that we never encountered the panther again.

Although I saw some monkeys on trees, deers, a huge boar and some big Pteranodon like birds.

But they were all far away and did not posed any danger.

The only dangerous thing I saw was a huge python like snake that was coiled around a tree, under which we were moving.

But it was sleeping so we avoided the danger again. It was a Boa.

It had brown skin and diamond like black pattern on its back, hence the name I think.

It is so thick and long that it almost covers half of the branch of tree on which it is coiled.

Apart from that, there was no other encounter. We walked some more.

The sun was almost setting.

According to the survival show I saw, sun sets early in forest and very fast once evening comes.

Spending a night in forest is like serving ourselves as a lavish dinner prepared on plate for the night predators of the jungle.

I need to move fast.
