A showdown with Robert san

After deciding my current plan, I decided to get up and take a look around this barracks.

Fortunately it seems I was not locked from outside this time.

So I was able to get out pretty easily.

There may be places where I should not go, but I was not told so by anyone, so unless someone stops me, I will explore thoroughly.

Maybe I should also try conceal skill. See how effective it is.

No, I will definitely get into trouble if I used it and then was caught.

To enjoy life, it is important to not to forget about enjoying our present while also working hard to achieve our future goals.

So in this life I will enjoy my life while also making enough efforts to realize my goals.

I then casually started exploring the facility.

This facility is two story large building with huge courtyard and backyard, for training.

There were many corridors and rooms.

But I was afraid of opening any door, so I did not go into them.

There were public toilets built at end of each corridor.

I also came across the cafeteria from the morning.

There was also a large kitchen attached to it that opened towards the back side of the facility.

Then I also found a games room. '

There about ten soldiers were playing indoor games like cards, chess, Othello etc.

They seem to be on a break it seems.

Maybe they are ones that had gate guarding duty in morning and now are on break before going on patrol rounds.

Well this is all my own conjecture.

Seems like the otherworlders have done their work in entertainment field too huh.

First the toilet and now this.

But didn't the goddess say that she sends them once every hundred year.

If so, then I don't think some of these games were even there, hundred years ago on earth.

Is the time flow different in this world?. Or maybe these people just developed these games on their own.

But the similarities and they were even saying the similar lingo used in these games.

So I think it is the work of fellow earthlings.

I will come to this game room after completing my tour.

I then moved to the second floor. But unfortunately a soldier on that floor that gestured me politely to go back.

Here also seems like, my information has already been spread.

Or are there many outsiders roaming in this facility like me but they are all allowed only on ground floor. Maybe.

I went down and continued exploring.

But after seeing a bunch of closed doors, I went back to the game room.

There to my surprise, even Robert san was playing chess there.

You don't have work do you.

If only I knew the Ellisium language, I could have gone to Barnabus san to snitch on him and make him suffer.

But maybe I can take my revenge by beating him in chess and humiliating him. Hahaha.

Get ready uncle, for this is a showdown.

I went and stood as an onlooker of the ongoing chess game between Robert san and another soldier named 'Jangar'.

He is a human with black hair and decent looks and is 23 years old.

From what I observed today, most soldiers here were either human, mixed human or mixed beastmen.

And although all of the boys and girls looked great but mostly they were commoners.

Since yesterday, I have only seen 3 nobles that is Philia san and the Greenwich sisters.

There is absence of elf or dwarfs here. Not even mixed ones are present.

I even saw a mixed Oni tribe soldier with a horn yesterday.

But no elf or dwarf. Maybe those races live in separate countries.

But there was Helium sensei, so maybe its just a preference of profession.

But I do hope dwarfs exist. Otherwise this world will feel incomplete.

The chess match ended with Robert san's victory. He won quite easily.

From what the onlookers were commenting, Seems like Robert san has a title of game master here in chess.

Well, beating him here in front of everyone will be perfect revenge for me. Hahaha.

As the match ended the opponent, Jangar san got up and left.

After that another person was going to sit for a match but I took the initiative and immediately sat in front of Robert san.

Seeing me he was surprised but with a gesture he told me that he only has time for one match.

The onlookers were also curious about a newcomer challenging the Game master.

The match began.

Robert san might have thought that since I was an ignorant kid who did not even know the language, he had enough room to be playing in a relaxed manner.

But as the match progressed, he was starting to have a frown on his face and his shoulders were getting tensed up to.

On the other hand I was relaxed from the beginning.

The thing is during my job, in my previous life, I played chess during free time on my computer. So I was quite an expert in that.

But Robert san had only played chess with armature soldiers here, so the difference was quite large. Hahaha. Take this you uncle.

Although the game was going in my favour but once Robert san started taking it seriously, the game became intense.

With just 5 pieces remaining he was able to cut down my 4 main pieces. If he would have been serious from start, maybe he could have won but in the end my initial moves made a great impact and I was able to win the game.

Just barely though, with only 3 pieces reaming apart from the king.

This uncle is scary. He has a brain, better than a computer at difficulty level advance.

After finishing the match, I extended a hand shake. Robert san looked at my hand and shook it. Seems like he is in shock from his defeat.

The onlookers are also making a lot of noise and banging my back, praising me in their language.

Stop it, you are hurting my back you know.

After the match, Robert san gestured to follow him.

He then took me to the cafeteria again where the lunch had started.

So its already time for that huh.

I did not even realize it. Also it seems people here also eat three times a day.

And here I thought that due to this world being a labour intensive one, 2 times a day would have been followed.

Anyways, it is good for me that I will not have to change my routine.

The lunch was same as breakfast.

The only thing added was juice or mead that could be taken along with it.

Figures, it is difficult to prepare such a quantity of food three times of day every day.

So they make breakfast and lunch together in morning and maybe dinner will be different.

The cooks may be soldiers as well so they may have duties to do, that's why such approach may have been taken.

Thinking that I remembered my hostel days while I was doing my graduation.

There, the cooks used to prepare three different meals every day for about 500 students.

That time, I did not give much thought to it.

I did not even ask about the names of the workers there.

Forget about thanking them. I realized their hard work later when I used to prepare my own food after becoming a salaryman.

I decided to improve myself this time.

So while taking the meals I thanked them while bowing.

Although they did not understand English, they were able to guess my gesture and were very happy.

Actually, I did the same in the morning too, but that time it was out of fear.

I took my food and found many empty seats, since it was early.

I decided to sit at an empty table and finished my lunch.

By the way I drank juice and not mead. The scan told me the juice was from Orange fruit.

Yes! This world has oranges also. Good.

Done with the lunch, I went for a light walk in the courtyard.

There was only one soldier there who seemed to be cleaning the area.

I bowed and greeted him and continued my walk.

Then back to the room and decided to meditate.

This time I did not meditate in hopes of learning magic. Just sat there doing nothing.

That was a lesson I learnt in my previous life.

That you should meditate for the sake of it not expecting any benefit out of it.

Since it is a form of self-love which is said to be unconditional, it should be done without expecting anything in return.

So I followed that lesson.

I did so for about an hour and the door opened.

The scene was the same as happened in the morning. Robert san came and I was sitting there cross legged on floor.

He may get wrong impression of me as someone who is pious and does religious rituals or something.

But the truth is, this is just something that cures my anxiety. That's all. I was not a devotee or anything.

Anyways, Robert san called me and I followed him.

I was then taken to a room on the ground floor.

This is a new room that I have not seen before. It was like a small meeting room. As I entered, there were 3 people already there.

One was a regular soldier named Maxis. He was a mixed human about 5 feet 8 inches tall and was 20 years old.

He had grey hair, black eyes and a chiselled face. Another handsome man.

Other 2 were unexpectedly some people, I already knew.

Mary san and Sherry san.

Yes they were Greenwich blonde sisters.

One human and other one is a mixed. Why are they here?

Are they here to complain about my behavior.

I am a little scared. These sisters are intimidating.

Although they are quite beautiful but I think they have unique quirks in their character, which makes it difficult to predict their mood sometimes.

Robert san sat on a seat and gestured me to do the same.

I, after giving a bow to three people decided to sit on a seat in front of the three at side of Robert san.

Robert san then talked to them about telepathy magic.

Then although a little reluctantly, Sherry san chanted telepathy magic but this time not only her but me, Mary san and Robert san all started shining in blue light.

Seems like it is a multi-connection spell this time.

This girl seems quite good. Even the incantation was quite short.
