Goblins and wolves

I returned to the orphanage.

After taking a bath at the well behind the main building, I decided to rest a little in my room.

The room was empty. Seems the girls were outside, playing or tending to fields.

I slept for an hour or so and then after talking to Dorthy san, I was given task of helping in dinner preparation.

Dorthy san and other sisters asked me about my adventure today. I told them that I killed some goblins and rabbits.

To which the sisters asked if I bought some meat for them. I apologized to them since I forgot to keep some rabbits for the orphanage.

But I did give them some mangoes I collected.

This was very insensitive of me. Although I am helping at orphanage, it’s still not enough to repay the cost of living and food.

The least I could have done was bring in some rabbit for them but it completely blew out of my mind.

I promised them to get some tomorrow. The sisters were happy to hear that. They also advised me to be careful and not to overdo it.

After dinner was prepared, I went to call the kids working in the field. After helping them in washing their hand and face, we all ate the dinner together.

It was simple stir fried vegetables and some rice. There was also a sweet milk drink along with it. Everything was delicious.

After meal, I went to room along with Lily and her two friends Nina and Shuna.

Both sisters were a little shy towards me but Lily was very happy to see me.

After that I told them about my adventure today with a little dramatization which they enjoyed very much.

The sister also became excited and became comfortable around me.

I had the duty to tuck the smaller children in bed so I made sure that the children who I was given duty of were in bed.

I moved to the veranda and started doing some maintenance of my sword, shield and arrows.

I applied some oil to them and sharpen the edges. The basics were taught to me by Yunaris san (the ratman boyfriend) when I visited him yesterday.

Since the light was dim due to only one magic tool, it was not very easy to do my task.

I somehow finished it and moved to my room to sleep. The events of the day started coming to my head.

I started thinking about my oversights and mistakes I made. I should have brought some rabbit meat or bear meat.

Maybe I should not have sold bear fur and it could have been used here to keep the children warm.

Although its summer right now but it could have been useful for winters.

Or maybe the fangs and claws of the bear could have been used for weapons.

I don’t know why but I just sold everything today. It was half impulse and half the fact that I did not think much of the bear.

I thought that its materials were not very good. Also I needed money more than weapons right now.

Thinking about such things I drifted to dreamland.

Next morning after my morning training of magic and writing, I again helped the 6 young children and then helped in the kitchen again.

Then after packing my lunch I was on my way to the guild again.

Today too I took the same goblin and herb quest from Tina san, but today I went directly to Ghalia forest.

After entering the Ghalia forest I killed some horn rabbits again and collected herbs and fruits on the side.

In about 2 hours I killed 10 rabbits and collected 26 cucuma herbs. Although there are various other herbs here that may be valuable but I donot yet know their harvesting method, or what part is useful.

I could just take the whole thing but, I donot want to waste the resources of forest.

After going further deep into the forest, I came across some goblins. It was a group of 3 goblins searching for food.

I killed them in the same manner as yesterday. I think I may be suited to be a silent assassin type.

But I am just using ideas from games I used to play on my laptop and the thing that is saving my ass is just my over powerful conceal skill.

Also, there is no need to dispose off the corpses in forest, as they are eaten before they turn into undead. But that is only in the forest, otherwise Tina san had told me to burn or burry it properly if I had time and was not in trouble.

I went further and again encountered some more goblins. I killed 2 more groups in same manner and in total I have already killed 13 goblins today.

The sun was still not in the middle yet so its about 11 am right now. So I decided to continue.

Since my memory is quite good, I can easily track back my way to outside.

Going further I encountered more goblins, this time a big group of 11 goblins. There might be a den or a settlement nearby.

Slowly working my way I was able to finish the 9 goblins, but the last 2 ran away while growling loudly to call help.

If I stay here, I am sure more goblins will show up. I decided to take a risk and wait on a tree which was easy to climb.

Soon enough 20 goblins showed up. This time they even had archers.

But most of them were still unarmed and only 5 of them had weapons.

As I was thinking about my next plan, something unexpected happened.

Attracted by the smell of dead goblins, a new type of monster showed up.

They were forest wolves and just as is the case in novels, these groups seemed to be at odds with each other.

The group soon began fighting. I scanned the biggest wolf that was doing the most damage to the goblins.

It was level 15 forest wolf. Its stats were not high but the problem is their agility and their cooperation while fighting in pack.

Goblins on the other hand, although had an advantage in number, could not deal with the synchronized attacks of wolves.

Moreover the average level of goblins was only 10 and that of wolves was 12.

Since stats were 3 to 5 times the level for both species, the difference of even 2 made quite the difference in the stats.

Eventually, the goblins were defeated. 8 were killed, 5 were injured and rest ran away.

The wolves did not give a chase and just started eating the goblins. No wolf died, but some were injured and walked while limping.

I felt like I was in one of those wild life programs that I used to watch as a kid. Kill or be killed was the law of the jungle.

After contemplating, I decided to wait, because this was the first time for me to deal with an agility type monster.

Although my agility is double the wolf, but its not like it will help me fight it.

All I can do is run away from it. Dealing with agility type monster requires quick reflexes that comes with training.

After eating the goblin dead bodies, the wolf leader howled and the pack ran away.

Some time after that I got down and collected the right ears of goblins. Although it was quite grotesque site, like seeing the innards of the half eaten goblins and such, but it was free money.

All I had to do was to find a right ear that was not eaten. After collecting 6 ears, I decided to exit the forest to have my lunch.

I could eat on a tree, but it will be difficult to balance while eating.

Luckily I was able to exit forest without encountering any big monster.

After finding a suitable spot near the road to the city of Detroit (my current city), I decided to have my lunch.

After lunch and a short rest, I again decided to enter the forest. This time I will try to find the goblin settlement and aim to loot their storage.

The goblin settlements are the best source of free money, weapons and potions, from what I experienced before.

I went to the same spot and moved in direction where majority of goblins ran. After walking some distance I started seeing signs of goblins.

There were footprints on the ground and bones of eaten animals lying here and there.

But what I saw further ahead was beyond my imagination.

There were ruins of a building there and it was filled with goblins.
